* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Chapter 75 involves [[spoiler: Nako's backstory, Bocchi discovering Nako has to switch schools, Aru getting angry about it and trying to make a deal with her teacher so she can finish school, Nako standing up to his father and having a realization that she wants to enter in the same school as Bocchi]]. The problem? All of these things happen ''off-screen''. To make matters worse, Bocchi fainted after hearing the news so we don't get to see much of her reaction to it, given once she wakes up the crisis it's already resolved.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Kai as of episode 7. Sure, she meant well by breaking up with Bocchi, but the immense suffering she imposes on Bocchi ''and'' the fact that she tends to acts like a total jerk toward her former best bud don't exactly garner her points among the fans. Despite crying over what she did, fans were on Bocchi's side instead of hers. Refusing to speak to Bocchi and acknowledging that she did try to make friends ''really pissed the fans off'' on a protective scale.

* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Is Kai cutting ties with Bocchi truly an act of ToughLove or had she been too rash with the decision? Was she being selfish since she knew on some level it would deeply hurt Bocchi? Chapter 68 reveals that while Kai thought it was tough love, a way to get Bocchi to interact with more than one person and not let her shyness hold herself back(Bocchi, who's rather smart, would have gotten into Kai's middle school had she not been too shy to take the interview), she also thought she'd said something terrible to Bocchi, and punished herself by not talking to anyone at her new school until someone managed to get through to her. On the other hand, in Chapter 85, [[NiceGirl Nako]] [[JerkassHasAPoint agrees with Kai about how important it is for Bocchi to be confident enough to take the exams]], and while Nako doesn't go as far as to explicitly approve of Kai's actions, she does say that [[TheExtremistWasRight Bocchi came as far as she did because she strove to keep her promise to Kai.]]

* TheWoobie: Bocchi. Her insecurity, initial lack of friends, and severe anxiety altogether make you just want to give the poor girl a big hug. That said, she does get better overtime (and does manage to make some friends too), and she's surprisingly optimistic in spite of her anxiety, making her more of an IronWoobie.

*** Don't lewd Bocchi. * CultClassic: It didn't perform too great financially during it's original run in the 2010s as a manga or anime, especially in comparison to [[Manga/BocchitheRock the other Bocchi-named series]] that would follow, but has not been forgotten by those who have gotten the chance to experience it.

* FriendlyFandoms: With ''Manga/SenryuGirl'' which has its own ShrinkingViolet protagonist (in fact the series is full of shy girls), as well as with ''Manga/KomiCantCommunicate'' on account of the two series both revolving around a ShrinkingViolet girl trying to make friends with as many people as possible, but tackling the premise in their own unique ways. Fans of all three manga will find common ground that the main characters must be protected at all costs.

*** Never forget Bocchi. [[labelnote:Explanation]]Bocchi spent her SickEpisode worried that she would be forgotten by her friends over a day's absence. Many anime fans have a habit of doting on cute female characters of currently-airing anime, casting aside or forgetting past shows in the process -- the same kind of abandonment that Bocchi feared. This reminder gets used to fight the habit, especially after the anime adaptation finished airing.[[/labelnote]]
