It can be argued that the main point is the gameplay, but for many players, there needs to be at least ''some'' motivation for violent gameplay - even ''Franchise/{{Doom}}'' has you saving the planet. Whether the rating hinders the games success or not is to be determined, but this does mean that, should the developers consider porting the game to consoles, it might have to have content cut (as all three major console manufacturers do not permit "AO" rated games to be sold on their systems).

* HypeBacklash: Many people who were actually looking forward to the game due to the fuss it created early in development might have suffered from this due to the game in itself being [[SoOkayItsAverage mostly average in terms of presentation and gameplay]]. For most, the game does not seem any more graphic than your typical violent video game, and as a result does not live up to the hype generated by its "AO" rating and the controversy the whole game created beforehand.
