* ThatOneLeveL: Asphodel being flooded by the Phlegethon (read: being a lava level) and cranking up everything you hated about Tartarus while making you chase those things you hated across small islands is not a change that's easily adjusted to, even on repeat plays. Elysium's higher density of traps and harder enemies are welcome just for the more even footing.

* ComplacentGamingSyndrome: It's possible to spend the entire game using the keepsake Old Spiked Collar. It's easy to obtain (giving Cerberus Ambrosia) and its bonus, while simple, is massively advantageous when maxed out (+50 total health). It's easy to forget that there are other keepsakes that benefit various other strategies.

** Aegis. Ordinarily, fighting will require three hands: one
to spend attack, one to move around, and one to aim with the entire game using the keepsake Old Spiked Collar. It's easy mousepad. Aegis puts this down to obtain (giving Cerberus Ambrosia) and its bonus, while simple, is massively advantageous when maxed out (+50 total health). It's easy just one, allowing you to forget not only defend (something that there are can't be done with other keepsakes weapons), but to do it ''while'' attacking via the Bull Rush. '''You are completely impervious to any attack in the game so long as it hits Aegis and not you'''. That, and on the off chance that benefit various other strategies. spamming this strategy won't work, the "Captain America" strategy (throwing the shield and watching it bounce around all enemies until the field is clear).
** Nyx's and Skelly's keepsakes, given that they're both available as soon as you first come across some nectar. Nyx's Black Shawl allows you to restore health every time you find darkness upgrades, giving you a two-for-one that ups survivability, and Skelly's Lucky Tooth gives you an extra Death Defiance. If you upgrade it to the max rank, and you probably will, it restores 150 health upon revival.

** Theseus and Asterius are the hardest duo boss this side of [[VideoGame/DarkSoulsI Orenstein and Smough]]. The king himself has the combined abilities of all Elysium's shades, including the aggravating-as-hell shield block and the incredibly accurate snipe that requires special action to dodge. Furthermore, at half health he invokes the gods who proceed to paint the entire map in energy blasts. This would not be an issue if it weren't for Asterius, however. the bullman has a three hit combo with two wides sweep and an axe chop that can follow your from halfway across the stage. Furthermore, he has a charge that is almost guranteed to hit you unless you start dashing constantly and can only be stopped by tricking him into hitting a wall. As a final insult, The Minotaur is, well, beefy, having much more health than his companion. The real problem is that while each attack has a tell, it difficult to see with you constantly juggling attention between Asterius, Theseus, and the God's blasts. They can easily fill the map with more attacks than you can reasonably expect to dodge and Combined with having more health and damage migration than the other bosses put together, their battle an epic test of endurance you will likely fail.

** The Gorgons are basically Witches in that they come in large groups and love to spam you with projectiles, but they're worse in that their attacks turn you to stone, forcing you to watch your lifebar slip down bit by bit while you struggle free so that you can get petrified again in half a second. They also always head directly over the Phlegethon's pools, so that you can't directly attack them, creating a major pain in the ass.

** Any boss is this the first time, when you're still getting used to the game. One standout example, however, is the Bone Hydra at the end of Asphodel. Unlike the Furies before them, the Bone Hydra will function as anywhere between one and ''seven'' targets that will all be attacking at once. All of them have very big lifebars that come with very tough armor. If you haven't lucked out enough to severely tip the scales with the right boons, this thing is guaranteed to eat up whatever Death Defiances you have left and, if not kill you, make your Elysium foray very, very short.
