'Coronacht is... easily one of the worst weapons'. Is this really something that's widely held to be true? My overriding personal impression is that it's actually one of the best.

Agreed. I'm assuming it's from some prerelease version but from guides that have come out around the full release it's widely been considered really good, I've been seeing professional articles with the author saying it's their favorite.

It seems to be popular amongst speedrunners too. I'm going to delete that section; feel free to restore if someone feels they can make the case it's a 'Scrappy Weapon'.

Following up, I don't think that the Sword or Fists count either.

Excalibur in particular is considered a Game-Breaker and the Fists are just usually pretty popular.

If anything, from what I hear the Spear is probably the least popular. I also hear a relatively high amount of dislike for the Rail.

But... I don't think there is a Scrappy Weapon. Each weapon has its fans and detractors. But I think singling out the Fists and Sword is particularly inaccurate.

... and now someone just added two Aspects that are also listed on the Game-Breaker page.

Seriously, we need to have some kind of consistency.

Okay, pulling to discuss:

  • Scrappy Weapon: Weapons with poor reach are unpopular with many players simply because in a game that frequently ventures into Bullet Hell territory, having to get close to the enemy in order to do damage is a major risk. The spear, while seemingly a melee weapon has excellent range with its attack and is thrown as its special so this isn't an issue for it. The sword and fists, on the other hand, require you to get close and, unlike the Aegis (which can also be thrown) they don't have the ability to block all attacks in a given direction. The end result are much riskier weapons to use. Their range CAN be expanded with Daedalus upgrades, but if you don't luck into those upgrades, you'd better get good at dodging extremely well, especially in the fight at the end of Elysium and, of course, the fight with Hades himself.
    • The main thing that the final unlockable weapon aspects have in common is that they are exceptionally slow. This feels very different than the quick attack-and-dodge gameplay most weapons are suited to. Some compensate for this by an overall increase in damage per second, while others do not. To complete all prophecies, you are required to fight to the final boss (but not beat the final boss) with each final weapon aspect. Mitigated somewhat in that getting lucky with good boon combinations can still make it easy to at least get to the final boss.

My responses:

  • Weapons with poor reach: I just don't think this is true? In my experience, the Sword (particularly with Excalibur) is one of the most popular weapons and Fists are popular for people that, well, want to get up close and personal. I think this was mostly written by someone who has a particular playstyle that doesn't suit it. "You'd better get good at dodging" kinda is the point of the game. I'm not saying the entry is wrong in that "a lack of range is a disadvantage" but the weapons have other advantages that I don't think they're overall disliked. Maybe the vanilla Sword for being boring?
    • The second bullet: So this is just... weird? It used to be complaining about Guan Yu and Beowulf and not it seems to be rewritten into That One Achievement with the implication that Legendary Aspects are considered the worst but... they're absolutely not. All of them but one are listed under Game-Breaker (which I admit likely does need cleanup).

None of the legendary weapon aspects are considered bad other than Guan Yu which has a pretty steep hp penalty. Arthur, Lucifer, Gilgamesh, Rama and Beowulf are all considered at least decent. It is true that their slower speed becomes more of a detriment at higher levels of heat or more specifically certain pact of punishment measures, but the example doesn't even specify that.

Guan Yu can stay but the rest can go, I think, for reasons stated.

I'm gonna have to agree with the idea that there is no real Scrappy Weapon. I've seen at least someone speak highly of all of them.

_____________ and Zaptech appear to disagree about this entry. Please discuss it here instead of edit warring.

  • Narm: The game is rated T, so it can't show anything too crazy, but what we hear in the blacked-out sex scenes that include Thanatos largely consists of what can be described as awkwardly serious chuckling, perhaps with a crack of Megaera's whip.

That's clearly a scene designed to be humorous and not dramatic. Even if it weren't the case, the example as-written doesn't describe why it's accidentally funny, instead just vaguely describing the scene. It's essentially a ZCE.

Easy cut.

Yeah, that's definitely misuse of narm (no surprise there). Cut it.
