** Garage's lighthouse is occupied by shadows, who appear as human women...contorted into hideously painful positions. Even Psyche, the least distorted, seems to be missing her limbs. They spend their lives displayed in green backlit tanks and are slowly deteriorating.

** You have an "identity" meter that slowly depletes over time; after it dips below a certain point, you lose the ability to understand the other machines (and in turn become an incomprehensible mess yourself), and if it depletes entirely, ''you die''. [[spoiler:And you'd better have high identity and loads of healing items when it comes time to play the Noise Score in the endgame, or else.]]

** Garage itself is a rotting wasteland suspended over a polluted sea, with many areas shrouded in darkness and bereft of [=NPCs=], and a few that aren't safe to traverse (including at least one alleyway that's pretty much [[NonStandardGameOver instant death]]). Even if you feel that it has its own worn-down beauty, the desolate score is sure to keep you on edge as you explore it.

** The hospital is home to machines that are not well, to put it lightly. Yan can check a couple of closed rooms; one occupant just looks back at him through the window insert, but the other makes a disconcerting noise and slams a fist against the door. The latter causes Yan to jump back in alarm, one of the very few times he shows any kind of physical reaction.
