This incarnation of the snake is a genetically-engineered ''massive'' cobra who [[EatenAlive devours the enemies]] of the Commander who disappoint him. Which he does ''several times''. The fact that it can also obey commands and spit out victims if his master orders implies [[ItCanThink it's smarter than it looks]].
** Zartan and his Dreadnoks essentially taking over a small mountain town to bully and torment innocent civilians ForThEvulz. Things are made worse when they kidnap a waitress named Wendy to keep prisoner in their motel room [[FridgeHorror to do who knows what to her]]. Thank goodness Snake Eyes steps in.

* NightmareFuel: In episode 2, the Bio-Viper absorbs the life out of goats, and you can see their barely alive husks.

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: When loading up the Cobra barge during "The Enemy of My Enemy," a disgruntled Scrap-Iron stomps down the container with the defective Bio-Viper in it, damaging it. While it seems like an accident, especially with Mindbender insinuating that he'd screw it up beforehand, it could easily have been deliberate. Scrap-Iron may have done that to get back at Mindbender for his insults, or, seeing as Scrap-Iron works for Destro who was trying to sabotage Mindbender, this was part of a plot.

* EvilIsSexy: TheBaroness, as usual.

* RelationshipWritingFumble: Storm Shadow and Jinx are cousins and his affection for her seems to be familial, but it's quite easy to see IncestSubtext and interpret Storm Shadow's [[{{Yandere}} possessiveness]] of her as romantic rather than platonic.

** [[BigBad Cobra Commander]], aka [[VillainWithGoodPublicity Adam DeCobray]], is the calculating leader of Cobra, a terrorist organization masking itself as a completely legitimate and beloved business. Fooling the world over with his public guide of [=DeCobray=], the Commander uses his ruthless true nature to keep his subordinates in line, weeding out any and all potential leaks or dangers to Cobra's criminal activities and sniffing them out. Outwitting his entire command staff anytime they try to betray him, the Commander frames the G.I. Joes when they nearly expose Cobra, sending them on the run for the whole series. The Commander stares an assassin down without flinching, gives the Joes the hardest fight in the series when he personally duels them, and nearly takes over the world countless times over through sheer strategic brilliance and leadership.

* UncannyValley: The Iron Grenadiers. The show has a lot of CGI, most notably for Destro's exo-armors. The Iron Grenadiers are his staff within those exo-armor suits, except they're modeled in CG with the suits instead of 2D animation like the rest of the people on the show. As a result they look off and their proportions aren't quite right.

* CrazyAwesome: This incarnation of Snake Eyes. He seems to run on RuleOfCool and UnspokenPlanGuarantee (which is easy since he can't speak). As Duke puts it during one of his many rescues, "What is your crazy friend doing?"

* MagnificentBastard: [[BigBad Cobra Commander]], aka [[VillainWithGoodPublicity Adam DeCobray]], is the calculating leader of Cobra, a terrorist organization masking itself as a completely legitimate and beloved business. Fooling the world over with his public guide of [=DeCobray=], the Commander uses his ruthless true nature to keep his subordinates in line, weeding out any and all potential leaks or dangers to Cobra's criminal activities and sniffing them out. When the soldiers, called "Joes," continuously meddle in his plans, Commander has the parents of the leader, Duke, kidnapped, offers a deal for their lives, then plans on killing them along with the Joes after the deal is through. Commander takes no slight against him lightly, shown when he tries to bomb a college to kill one blogger who slanders Cobra Industries, feeds a possible whistleblower to his pet, Serpentor, and [[AndIMustScream seals a metal mask onto James [=McCullen=]]] (Destro) for leaking information about Cobra. When The Joes interfere once again, he flies into a rage, brutally beats them down, then tries to [[TakingYouWithMe drag Duke down with him]] when he falls over an edge. Cold-blooded and power-hungry beyond salvation, Cobra Commander once again proves himself to be [[NotSoHarmlessVillain far worse]] than his [[WesternAnimation/GIJoeARealAmericanHero original counterpart]] ever hoped to be.

Commisioned by Cobra Commander to build an army of [[BlobMonster Bio-Vipers]], Mindbender happily tries to feed the Joes to them, and when one of his Vipers escapes and begins causing chaos, Mindbender goes to extra lengths to put civilians in danger. When the people of a town Cobra is plunging into a drought by building a dam begin fighting back against Cobra, Mindbender, along with [[TheDragon the Baroness]], pays [[PsychoForHire Firefly]] to destroy the town and its inhabitants. Tracking down twin psychics, whom he located by torturing a fake medium, Mindbender captures and subjects the twins to [[PlayingWithSyringes horrific experiments]]. Later, the Joes accidentally release the powerful Electro-Viper onboard a ship, and Mindbender remotely targets it towards [[EvilVsEvil Destro's castle]], completely aware of the destruction the creature would cause once it reaches land. After another of his Vipers escapes, Mindbender [[WouldHurtAChild tortures a young boy]] for the Viper's whereabouts, and later tries to level Brooklyn, New York to act as a distraction while he flees the Joes. Helping build the M.A.S.S. device for Cobra, Mindbender nonchalantly tests it on Cobra's own soldiers, many of whom don't survive, and later tries to send Snake-Eyes through the machine in order to force his best friend to reveal the machine's secrets to Mindbender, then tries to kill them both once the device starts working. Doing everything for [[ForTheEvulz sick thrills]] or {{for science}}, Mindbender may not have been as powerful or influential as his cohorts, but he far surpassed them in sheer monstrosity.

* {{Narm}}: The scene where Cobra Commander seals Destro's face inside the mask. Clearly meant to be both awesome and horrifying, and for the most part it is, but, well... With the screws tightening and the Baroness wincing, everything we see seems to suggest that it's literally being ''nailed into Destro's skull''. Except his scream of pain is noticeably absent, which makes it obvious that the [[{{Bowdlerization}} censors objected]].

* BrokenBase: Some people found it to be a great reinvention of the ''Franchise/GIJoe'' franchise, some hated it for the liberities it took and/or more or less basically being ''Series/TheATeam: The Animated Series''.
