** The BellyDancer character had lots of potential and would have been a good way to introduce a more positive Arab persona to the mainstream audience. Instead it was barely used and changed to a generic heel persona before she had a chance to get going.

* EvilIsSexy: Upon switching permanently to a heel persona in 2018, she started wearing outfits with a CleavageWindow and [[EvilSlinks doing a slinky walk to the ring]].

* EightDeadlyWords: A lot of casual fans have found it difficult to get invested in Aliyah because she's made so many [[HeelFaceRevolvingDoor heel-face switches]] and alternated between jobbing and occasional wins that it's hard to even know her in the ring.

* UnnecessaryMakeover: The black hair she adopted after she was first signed. Fans speculated it was done to make her look more stereotypically Arab - and Wrestling/BeckyLynch had likewise dyed her hair red for the sake of an {{Oireland}} gimmick. Unsurprisingly she was back to brown hair a few months later.

* GrowingTheBeard: In 2018 she finally settled into an actual persona, started picking up wins and got actual mic time. General consensus was "Aliyah has ''finally'' arrived."

** Aliyah herself was criminally underutilised in 2017. Despite being able to go in the ring, she's barely featured and there's not even an attempt to develop her character. Notably she was passed over in the Mae Young Classic in favour of Bianca Bel Air and Vanessa Borne, two incredibly green developmental talents. She went back to jobber status and rarely appeared until late 2018.

* EarWorm: Her theme "The Cat's Meow" will get stuck in your head.

** Some felt the third spot in the Riott Squad should have gone to Aliyah, who was in an alliance with Liv Morgan on NXT and wasn't doing very much beforehand either (and would find herself jobbing for most of 2018). This would have given the squad a little more continuity with NXT, as many felt that Sarah Logan was out of place as the third member.

* XPacHeat: During one battle royal Aliyah was booed by the live crowd for eliminating Rachel Ellering, and when she herself was eliminated, the crowd chanted "thank you".

** Subverted. As she hadn't debuted on TV yet, few people remember the racist tweets controversy.

* PeripheryHatedom: Despite internet fans - particularly those on ''Website/DivaDirt'' - finding Aliyah underrated and misused, the NXT crowd really doesn't like her. In one match they sarcastically chanted "let's go Aliyah...no go home!" or else "A-li-yah...sucks!"

* DracoInLeatherPants: In 2018 after adopting her most vicious heel persona yet, the NXT crowd started going mad for her.

* EnsembleDarkhorse:She has a rather strong online following for someone who has only made minimal appearances on television, usually as a jobber when she does, and doesn't even have a defined character yet. Usually when ''Website/DivaDirt'' posts the spoilers from the NXT tapings, among the first comments will be asking if Aliyah has a match.

* {{Moe}}: If it's possible for a wrestler to have such qualities. She's very endearing and adorable. On ''Breaking Ground'' she seemed to inspire this reaction from the other talent too, calling herself "the baby of NXT".
