He becomes the main antagonist proper when he arrives on Earth in the second season.

* BullyingADragon: A Trollgolem encounters Vervatos in his human form in a back alley and ignores the warning given to stand aside or be torn apart. At that precise moment, Vervatos returns to his natural form, grins menacingly and makes good on his threat.

* ContinuityNod: Multiple CallBack moments to ''Trollhunters'' in season 2. [[spoiler: Jim and Blinky have reached New Jersey, and make a cameo fighting an unknown enemy in the sewers of Hoboken. Meanwhile, a flashback shows Kanjigar the Courageous and Vendal taking possession of Gaylen's Core from the King and Queen many years ago, with the spirit of Kanjigar helping to guide Aja and Krel right to it-- it's in the now-empty Trollmarket underneath Arcadia.]]

* ExactWords: When ordered to surrender the King and Queen's cores in exchange for the safe return of their children, Vervatos hands over a briefcase to Alpha, telling them there is a King and Queen inside. [[spoiler: when Alpha discovers the cores are not inside, but rather, two chess pieces and a bomb, Vervatos points out, I said "a king and queen, not the king and queen".]]

* ForcedTransformation: Aja, Krel and Varvatos' human disguises are applied through a device in the ship. They turn them fully-human (with the various weakness and problems that entails), and they cannot remove the disguises themselves. The disguises will fail on their own after twelve hours.

* IChooseToStay: [[spoiler: At the end of the series, Krel decides to remain on Earth because he wants to stay with all the friends he made there]].

* MetronomicManMashing: Alpha receives this beating from Varvatos and another bounty hunter gets it from AAARRRGGHH.
* MorphWeapon: Serrators are weapons that look like protractors in their dormant form, but can generate HardLight constructs. They take on whatever weapon form their wielder desires, from large bladed swords to blaster rifles and even shields. Other aliens have similar devices, such as Zeron Alpha's version which generates a triple-tipped drill.

* SequelHook: During the last few minutes of the final episode [[spoiler: a talking cat wearing glasses appears before Toby, Steve, and Arrgh to tell them that the world is going to end if they don't help him.]] Which is the introduction of the final ''WesternAnimation/TalesOfArcadia'' series, ''Wizards''.

Despite using advanced alien technology the trip still ends up taking about a day and a half. That makes Stuarts ship faster then the Apollo 11 (3 days) but slower then New Horizon (8 hours), currently the fastest manmade object.

* TemptingFate: [[spoiler: At the end of the series, Toby and Steve say they're glad the situation with Morado ended, as it would be hard to top defeating an alien god. Even so, they admit summer is going to be boring now. Then a cat wearing glasses shows up and begins to warn them that the Earth is in danger again…]]

* BalefulPolymorph: Aja, Krel and Varvatos' human disguises are applied through a device in the ship. They turn them fully-human (with the various weakness and problems that entails), and they cannot remove the disguises themselves. The disguises will fail on their own after twelve hours.

* InterspeciesRomance: Aja, an Akiridion warrior princess and Steve, a kinda normal human teenager are dating.

* LaResistance: A resistance movement forms on Akiridion-5 after the royals escape.

** Vex, disguised as an old man with a cane, is assisted in crossing the street by a [[ScoutOut girl scout]] trying to earn a badge despite his objections. [[WesternAnimation/{{Up}} Hmm...]]

* TemptingFate: [[spoiler: At the end of the series, Toby and Steve say they're glad the situation with Morado ended, as it would be hard to top defeating an alien god. * YankTheDogsChain: A series-long one. Aja and Krel are using Mother to support their parents in stasis, waiting for their bodies to reform. [[spoiler:Despite some close calls, the king and queen reform.... and proceed to sacrifice their cores and lives to stop Morando. Aja and Krel had committed to doing it, and desperately try to convince their parents otherwise. Coranda reassures them this is their choice, and names Aja as the new leader of Akiridion. Cue their bodies fading, for real]].

* NotSoDifferent: Aja becomes very frustrated when it comes to trying to be a normal human, but thanks to a mind reading device from Krel, Aja sees everyone's thoughts and realizes that even ''humans'' have a hard time being normal humans.

* RealityEnsues:
** When Krel formats a couple of blank drones into fake parents, who then behave like manic 1950s stereotypes, Señor Uhl immediately tries to call Child Protective Services because the parents seem psychotic. Aja gets him to back down by explaining that their homeland was taken over in a coup, earning his sympathy and getting him to write off their odd behavior as trauma.
** BrokenMasquerade is deconstructed in "D'aja Vu"; neither the aliens nor Trollhunters are remotely prepared for humans seeing their true forms, including Darci who is Toby's girlfriend, as well as her father who is a cop. It means they are in real danger of being arrested, and as we later find out, sent to a nearly alien warehouse to become lab experiments. [[spoiler:It took the Eternal Night for the authorities to be willing to work with the trolls because a near-apocalypse ends up shifting your legal priorities. And even then, Darci's father admits that people are creating hoaxes to mess with others so he can't take the threat of an alien invasion seriously unless he has proof]].
** The show makes no attempt to hide the racism and discrimination against Krel and Aja, who are disguised as a Latino and a woman. It was actually deliberately invoked by MOTHER when picking their disguises. The main plot of episode 7 centers around Krel, Aja, and Varvatos dealing with a racist bureaucrat who suspects the siblings of being illegal aliens. [[spoiler:[[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] in that the racist bureaucrat in question is really an alien bounty hunter who knows that main characters are literal aliens, but the point still stands]].
** In episode 7, it's brought up that both appeared to have 'dropped out of the sky', due to having no school history or any form of identification. Birdy gives them massive stacks of paperwork to fill out.
** Zadra finds out while undercover that [[spoiler:Varvatos Vex lowered the shields]], thus technically committing treason. [[spoiler:The kids still have to punish him when they find out, and even though he redeems himself thanks to the sentence being an exile, Zadra treats him coldly for a while because she was tortured for several days and saw the royals lose their physical forms]].
