Based on the Creator/DCComics [[ComicBook/AmethystPrincessOfGemworld comic book series]] of the same name, ''Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld'' is a 2013 animated series of one-minute shorts created by [[Webcomic/HarpyGee Brianne Drouhard]] that ran on Creator/CartoonNetwork's ''WesternAnimation/DCNation'' action programming block as one of several interstitials between programming.

The shorts follow Amy Winston, a teenage girl who spends her time learning how to make video games. After the final level of her most recent creation crashes again, a frustrated Amy puts her controller aside... only for one of the characters to start calling out to her. Amy immediately finds herself whisked away to Gemworld, a dimension that as a direct match for the video game world she created, and is told that she is Princess Amethyst: one of the rulers of the land and the hero destined to save it from the tyrannical Dark Opal and his forces. While not completely onboard with suddenly becoming a magical girl in a video game, Amy realizes that accomplishing this quest is the only way back to Earth, and sets off on her journey.

A seven-episode fifteen minute mini-series based on the [[ComicBook/AmethystPrincessOfGemworld comic book series]] of the same name that ran on the ''WesternAnimation/DCNation'' block as in-betweens of the main shows.

The shorts follow main protagonist, Amy, who in this version is a computer nerd who makes her own video games. After failing to get past the last level (much to her frustration) one of the characters within the game suddenly calls out to her calling her Amethyst. Suddenly she finds herself whisked away to Gemworld, given a major transformation and told that she is both the princess and the hero of the world that was meant to save it from the tyrannical Dark Opal and his forces. While reluctant, Amy realizes the only way back to her world is to defeat Opal and thus sets out on a quest to do so.

Was meant to be showcased when the block first premiered. But [[ScrewedByTheNetwork was delayed considerably]] until finally premiering on January 5, 2013. While the short run time means there's not much is done to explore just what the relationship is between Amy and Princess Amethyst (the entire series lasts less than ten minutes), the shorts nonetheless have been received positively with many fans trying to convince DC to make it into a full-fledged series.
