* VideoGame/Deltarune
** Kris. Given that Sans is a Mii Costume in Ultimate, representation from Toby Fox's games could expand to a playable Kris in Smash 6. They would have a moveset based around a Tension Points gimmick, where they collect TP based on how many attacks they dodge or graze (similar to the bullet-grazing mechanic from their home game) and summon Ralsei and Susie for some of their moves. Their Final Smash would be to summon the Thrash Machine and wail on foes. As for a home stage, something from the newest chapter of Deltarune as of Smash 6[='s=] release would fit best, but as of the time of writing Queen's Mansion would be a fun idea. It'd have character cameos of Noelle, Berdly, Lancer, Queen, King, Nubert, the original        Starwalker and others, with Spamton NEO as a stage boss. Also think of the kickass music remixes that they'd bring with them!

WMG: Roxas for Sora
If Sora returns in Smash 6, Roxas would make a very easy, effective and fitting Echo Fighter for him, using tweaked moves and animations based on his own playable appearances in the Kingdom Hearts games. He'd have both his Twilight Town outfit and his Organization XIII cloak as costumes, with his TT outfit having a palette swap that looks like Ventus.

** Noah from VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles3 is a likely shoo-in for the next Smash game, given how he's the main protagonist of the next big installment.

* If Sora returns for the sixth Smash game, Roxas could be included as his Echo Fighter.

*** With VideoGame/PokemonLegendsArceus taking on a more Action RPG style and the Trainer themselves being more directly involved, "passing on" the "Pokémon Trainer" character slot to Rei/Akari would be a fun idea. They would still primarily fight like the Kanto Trainer, using the Hisui starters - possibly Oshawott, Dartrix, and Hisuian Typhlosion to match the Kanto Trainer's team. But there would be a few moves where the Trainer in the background gets directly involved. For example, tapping Down B just results in a plain old Pokémon Change, but if the player holds Down B, they gain access to a radial menu (similar to Shulk) where they can switch to any of the three Pokémon at will or have the Trainer throw a balm, a Sticky Glob, a Smoke Bomb or a Scatter Bang to their Pokémon's current position, each of which has a different effect on surrounding foes. All three Pokémon could also have a shared up special where the Trainer calls on Hisuian Braviary to lift it in the air and glide.

*** Since Charizard now has its own slot, and Squirtle and Ivysaur don't really deserve one, Red could return as an actual fighter. He would be very weak of course, both in attack and defense, but would actually play as a Turret Master, dropping a specific Pokémon on the stage (depending of the special attack) who wouldn't move and perform an attack indefinitely until it is KO'd by an opponent or called back by the trainer ; like Palutena, he could change the Pokémon (and the subsequent attack) he sends with his custom moves. As a MythologyGag, he would always use Ivysaur and Squitle as his up and down smash, while his forward smash would be him riding a cycle like Wario's bike. Each Pokémon has his own PV meter, and once defeated, it has a cooldown before he could send him again. His Final Smash would be his 6 Pokémon performing their attack at once, and it would by slightly different depending on what Pokémons the player chose with the custom moves. Also, Blue and Leaf could serve as PaletteSwap.

*** He's pretty much the driving point for the entire series and would make an excellent fighter. While he may have a similar moveset to Samus on paper, the attacks he's shown in Dread are distinctive enough to make for a unique one.

* He could fight on foot, with some of his normal and special attacks using his subweapons from all 3 Blaster Master Zero games (and maybe some where he summons SOPHIA III). His Final Smash could be him calling Eve so she uses Unchained DDF and, a la Bayonetta's FS, you have to attack opponents so they get locked on for a Remote Blast; follow that with Fred transporting Jason back to SOPHIA III so Jason, Eve, and Fred can finish the job with Full Acceleration Blast (you can mash the button to deal more damage).

Travis' fighting style makes sense (somewhat) with the Smash Bros. universe, since the combination of beam katanas and professional wrestling moves are pretty CrazyAwesome already. He could probably take Snake's place if does appear, since it's overkill to have two Rated R game characters in a supposedly "child-friendly" environment. Here are some ideas for his appearance:

[[WMG: The final DLC character to be added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be a Super Smash Bros. original character.]]
After a roster full of Unexpected Characters, it would be hard to top, but the only thing the Super Smash Bros. roster is still lacking in terms of history is Super Smash Bros. itself. Therefore, the last character to be added to Ultimate--that is, the ultimate Ultimate character--will be a character previously invented for the Super Smash Bros. series. Theoretical examples include Master Hand, Tabuu, Galeem/Dharkon, or an Alloy, Polygon, or Wireframe Fighter. But the most interesting one would be Master Shadow (maybe referred to as "Master Core" on the roster), who would be a DittoFighter, taking the form of a larger, more damaging version of one of the other chosen characters for that match.
