* RecycledPremise: Kraven targeting Curt Connors and turning him into an even bigger, more monstrous Lizard was already done in ''VideoGame/SpiderMan3''.

* EarlyBirdCameo: The "startup" company that owns the rooftop drone launchers that Peter and Miles use when setting up the new FNSM App network have the EMF logo on them, foreshadowing both the company itself and their remote workstations for fieldwork that becomes a side activity later in the game.

** In the first mission where Harry returns he talks to Peter about how he couldn't have passed math without Peter's help. Later he is unable to put even a single ball into the basketball hoop. These things foreshadow that, despite being a bright kid with great ambitions, he really can't do anything without the help of others. This also foreshadows [[spoiler:Harry depending on the symbiote to survive, being unable even to live unassisted]]

** Peter had 8 years or longer to come to terms with Uncle Ben’s death. Despite enough time passing from the first game for Miles to have become an ExperiencedProtagonist of his own, May's more recent death still haunts Peter and he struggles to move on from it, such as letting her old items be donated to charity. Finding a necklace of hers containing portraits of a younger him and Ben around her house has Peter audibly chocking back a sob and commenting how the sadness "hits you like a rouge wave sometimes". [[spoiler:It's this lingering negativity that forms the core of the emotional turmoil that the symbiote feeds off of and helps attract it to Peter in the first place]].

* CharacterSelectForcing: While the player can usually switch between Peter and Miles at will, there are times when only one can start main and side content. That said, the main story usually justifies it, and some side content only makes sense with a specific Spidey. Currently, only Miles can be used in Mysterium challenges, leaving Peter without a fighting arena. Likewise, Peter, being the one with the access card that unlocks the holographic research boards, is the only one who can do the ENF experiments, occasionally switching into his civilian guise to perform field work. [[spoiler:Both of these reflect on the ending, with Peter stepping back more from Spider-Man to focus on his civilian life whilst Miles steps up to handle the crime-fighting more confidently on his own]].

** When Mary Jane, having just left Peter's house, sees Harry for the first time, she screams in delight. Peter immediately rushes outside, assuming the scream was elicited by an attacking villain. By the end of the game [[spoiler:Harry, having succumbed to the symbiote and become Venom, has indeed become a villain, including attacking Peter and MJ at the house.]]

* SelfDisposingVillain: The Hunter Blinds sidequest chain involves attempting to dispose of the bases Kraven has set up throughout the city while also learning of his children, who are set up as potential successors to him that the Spider-Men want to make sure have as few of Kraven's resources as possible left for them if they come to New York in search of revenge. [[spoiler:By the end of the sidequest, the entire family kills each other, putting an end to the threat of the Kravinoffs.]] [[spoiler:It's then subverted in another sidequest where it turns out there ''is'' one surviving member of the family out for revenge against the Spider-Men: Kraven's brother, the Chameleon.]]
