* AutoRevive: Killing a Rolly-Poly (Hint: Smash the bastard with your foot, stunning it, and then hitting them with an attack other than stomping) will drop a literal that gives your character a one-time auto-revive, restoring 25% (50% cooked) health when you reach 0 HP; and the auto-revive is an infinite-duration status effect while in control of the affected fighter. Make sure to take the lifeshroom from the rolly-polly before cooking, as cooking the rolly-polly will prevent the lifeshroom from spawning. Naturally, Rolly-Pollies are extremely rare... when you're not on the 11th-20th floors.

Anti Frustration Features are not part of the normal game mechanics. They're when normal mechanics are suspended to give you a break. Map layout following certain patterns does not qualify. It's also not part of a tutorial, which at most is a subtrope (and thus it should be written under that).

* AntiFrustrationFeature: The very first piece of equipment you get from Uncle Prime will always be a Magnum, a ranged weapon perfect for fighting the Hater that was just made at the end of the tutorial (especially if they found armor or have intact weapons).
** The Mushroom Magistrate needs to be rescued as part of the tutorial, the only way to do so being to feed her a mushroom. Don't have any on you? There's one nearby, and it respawns until you feed her.
** Like in real life, you can identify mushrooms by design alone. This can help the player avoid eating a poisonous mushroom and dying if they're cautious.
** The first time you die, Kiwako Seto will revive you free of charge. Afterwards, you'll need to pay to revive, but the cost of revival is only one Death Metal (of which you receive one for free every few days).
** Offensive mushrooms will grow near an over-leveled Hater to make sure no one blocks progression by just leaving a 29 level Hater in the first area.
** The very first few rooms on the first floor will always spawn at least a few frogs and mushrooms to give you some supplies, especially for level 1 characters.
** After each Area boss, one of the first things you come across on the next floor (Floor 11, 21, and 31) is a mainline elevator.
** Once you reach the second area and the associated DifficultySpike, you will start finding Pillbugs that can be crushed to spawn Lifeshrooms which are basically a one-time free revive. They are easily farmed on the first floor of the second area and having at least one (unlike other mushrooms the effect isn't timed) greatly improves you chance of survival against the tougher and better-equipped enemies you'll meet.
** If you die, your enemies will ignore your corpse and return to their previous positions so if you choose to revive, you want have them standing over your newly-resurrected self to kill it again. If you're in a position where that's not possible (either in an enclosed space or during a boss fight), you will be temporarily cloaked once you come back from the dead, allowing you to subdue your surrounding foes unseen or possibly retreat if able.
** The fourth area of the Tower may have you attaining high-grade armor and weaponry via chests or Expeditions that would be otherwise difficult to create through R&D. They'll be in poor condition, but the Fun Fungus mushrooms on these floors can restore them to full durability and strength (but not ammunition in the case of firearms) once cooked and eaten.

At floor 1, this is a paltry 5,000 Kill Coins, which increases linearly to 10,000 at the 10th floor. But then you get killed by a stalking hater, and suddenly that debt is now doubled. And the prices get even more exorbitant with higher floors, all the way up to 250,000 Kill Coins on the 42nd-50th floors, it's like getting slapped with a terminal-velocity human body! Of course, you could just retrieve the fighter yourself... but that means their inventory explodes (along with their entire bloodstream), so you lose all those rare crafting materials and expensive gear and skill decals your fighter had on them before they died, but if they only had scraps and premium (non-perishable) decals then who gives a @#$%.

The synopsis on this page is all kinds of outdated, so I gave it a new one.

In any case, you are...well, you. And not only do you find yourself in your undies, you also realize that you're trapped in the post-apocalyptic remains of Tokyo - transformed into the "Tower of Barbs" - fighting for your life against horrific mutants, some immensely bigger than you. To make matters even stranger than they already are, you are guided on your quest by the Grim Reaper himself, who looks up to you and calls you "senpai". What's more, you are helped by Kiwako Seto, who can give you perks and the chance to get back into the game should you meet an untimely demise.

However, you are being watched by three mysterious people, who are observing you for... reasons. Suffice it to say, something screwy's going on here, and if anyone is gonna make any sense of this bizarre situation, it might as well be you, right?

** The Three Shocks of Terror, the sub-bosses within the Tower of Barbs, are abominations created by fusing several Fighters into a singular entity. One of the sub-bosses, CO-EN, is a Hulkish creature with several body parts jutting from his massive body. Another, JIN-Die, has a ChestBlaster that fires the severed heads of her previous victims and GOTO-9 has his head upside down along down, an intestinal tongue and walk walks on all fours (Uncle Death comments it barely look human).

* DifficultySpike: Screamers in the second area have actual weapons like butterfly knives and assault rifles. This also makes the Haters you meet in the low level armed with such as well if a player the same rank as you died there.
** Amusingly, the area after that steps back a few ages and has the majority of enemies outfitted with medieval arms such as swords, axes, and spears, yet manages to be an even larger difficulty spike (most armors you can obtain in the first two area are weak against slashing and the healing items are more scarce). And then, even beyond that, is the 4th area that goes back to makeshift sports equipment-weapons, like bowling balls on the ends of sticks, or baseball pitching machines, and is the largest difficulty spike in the game!

* LowLevelAdvantage: After you , the Tokyo Death Metro will unlock. This will give you the opportunity to upgrade various parts of your waiting room as well as the potential to find more character types that will make you go up a tier. As a consequence, you'll be forced to join one of the dozens of warring factions which will leave you susceptible to raids on your Kill Coin and =SPLithium= reserves. Going up tiers lets you access more equipment, but higher level Haters will begin to crop up and your account will be made known to potential assassins. Staying on the first three floors (and the first tier) will limit how much you can level up and spend, but the lack of severe opposition will give patient players time to assemble a decent roster of reserve fighters to go on expeditions and guard their bases once they actually join the TDM. There's also nothing stopping you from achieving increased Weaponry over the armaments on those floors as those are not obstructed by levels or tiers.

* AutoRevive: Killing a Rolly-Poly (Hint: Smash the bastard with your foot, stunning it, and then hitting them with an attack other than stomping) will drop a literal that gives your character a one-time auto-revive, restoring 25% (50% cooked) health when you reach 0 HP;
and the auto-revive is an infinite-duration status effect while in control of the affected fighter. Make sure to take the lifeshroom from the rolly-polly before cooking, as cooking the rolly-polly will prevent the lifeshroom from spawning. Naturally, Rolly-Pollies are extremely rare... when you're not on the 11th-20th floors.

* ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill: Gore Attacks are special finishing moves you can use on an enemy that has been beaten to an inch of their life and is too groggy from trauma to do anything for the next five seconds. You can just kill them with a regular attack at this point, but each execution is bloody humor that doesn't use up any durability or ammo and earns you more kill coins.
