** This becomes especially hilarious when you consider in the first ''[[SuperSmashBros Super Smash Bros.]]'' game's intro (and later the first Subspace Emissary level) have Mario and Kirby duel. Sakurai also created Kirby, and Miyamoto argued with him over Kirby's color.

* '''RuleOfFunny'''
* [[spoiler:SamusIsAGirl]]: [[spoiler:Dark Lord Gaol is actually a human woman.]]
* SceneryPorn:
** ''Uprising'' may be one of the best looking 3DS games in this respect.
** Studio4C's animated short, ''Medusa's Revenge'', is ''absolutely gorgeous,'' with the CGI blending seamlessly with the 2D animation.
* SchizoTech: Many of the weapons in ''Uprising'' look like futuristic firearms, in a universe clearly based on GreekMythology.
* ShoutOut: Several enemies are named after deities and beasts from Greek mythology, though many of these names have been slightly altered (or, more likely, bungled in the translation). See the VideoGame/KidIcarus page for a full list.
** Probably a stretch, but the design and actions of the [[ThisIsADrill Drill Arm]] [[TengenToppaGurrenLagann sure seems familiar.]]
*** In addition, the way it launches is similar to the Drill+Needle combination in ''Kirby64TheCrystalShards''.
** The enemies in the ship holding the 3 Sacred Treasures are named [[{{Metroid}} Space Pirates.]]
** ''Thanatos Rising'' has what's basically a cross between a Trojan Horse and [[StarWars an AT-AT.]]
** When Palutena talks about the powers and how you have to take into account the size and shape of the powers to fit into a grid, Pit proclaims that "All that time playing [[DrMario Dr. Mario]] has come in handy!"
** TheReveal of [[spoiler:[[SamusIsAGirl Gaol's true gender]]]] is almost certainly a reference to [[{{Metroid}} Kid Icarus's sister series.]]
** [[VideoGame/TheWorldEndsWithYou "There are reapers creeping around in there."]]
** Pit and Dark Pit repeatedly argue over who's the original and who's the copy. [[SonicAdventure2 Seem familiar?]]
** The Brawler Claw's continuous fire is the [[HokutoNoKen Hokuto Hyakuretsuken]].
** There are multiple references to other Nintendo games scattered throughout Uprising:
*** The idol description for the Komayto:
---> [[SuperMetroid "The last Komayto is not in captivity and Skyland is not at peace."]]
*** The idol description of the Fairy Orbitars:
---> [[LegendofZeldaOcarinaOfTime "Tired of pixies]] [[StopHelpingMe asking you to listen?"]]
*** Chapter 5's aesthetic is similar to the original ''StarFox''.
*** [[spoiler:Viridi]] mentions that she has [[BrainAge a Brain Age of 24]].
*** When fighting Twinbellows, Pit says he's going to rack up some serious {{Nintendogs}} points.
*** [[LampshadeHanging Pit mentions]] that Komaytos bear a strong resemblance to [[{{Metroid}} Metroids]].
*** One of the floors in the [[spoiler:Lightning Tower]] requires you to go up a series of ramps while jumping to avoid obstacles rolling down them. [[spoiler:Hades]] even admits that it's basically DonkeyKong.
** At one point, [[spoiler:Viridi]] says that Pit and Palutena have a "mutual admiration society."
** Pyrrhon mentions reading up on the [[spoiler:Aurum]] on [[ThatOtherWiki Divinipedia]].
** [[spoiler:The Heart of Hades]] fights you in an arena that looks like it came from Videogame/{{Bomberman}}. Throughout the fight, it will drop bombs that work just like the ones from Bomberman.
** [[spoiler: The final chapter involves Pit fighting Hades uses an angelic HumongousMecha that sprouts wings at one point. [[NeonGenesisEvangelion Sound familiar?]]]]
** Dark Pit's InSeriesNickname Pittoo seems like a shout out to the {{Pokemon}} Mewtwo, who is also a clone and a more dark counterpart to Mew.
* ShowSomeLeg: Palutena, in ''Brawl'' and beyond.
* SiegeEngines: In the ''Thanatos Rising'' first short, the humans have something that looks like a mix of the Trojan Horse and an AT-AT walker. Thanatos hijacks one to take out the rest and then gave it wings and heads for the town.
* SlasherSmile: Medusa in Studio4C's short. ''Ye gods.''
* {{Sliding Scale of Idealism Versus Cynicism}}: Despite how funny ''Uprising'' is, the plot leans back and forth between the two. On one hand, you have Pit, whose idealist nature to destroy evil and protect the humans would seem to shine in this type of game. On the other hand, everyone else seems to have the opinion that either {{Humans are Bastards}} or {{God is Evil}}. [[spoiler: And then you get to Chapter 18...]]
* TheSouthpaw: Pit appears to be ambidextrous. He shoots arrows with his left hand, but uses his right when he uses his bow as a sword.
** One of the possible Nicknames for the Multiplayer-Bots in Uprising is "Southpaw".
* SpiritualSuccessor: ''Uprising's'' multiplayer feels like a 3D ''SuperSmashBros'', with an emphasis on fast-paced action and unpredictability, with some ideas from team-based shooters thrown in for good measure.
** The aerial gameplay segments are extremely reminiscent of ''StarFox'' and the on-foot gameplay shares some similarities with ''StarFoxAssault''. The aerial segments of Chapter 5 are basically one big long ''StarFox'' homage, taking the player through a polygonal space-station-esque place then briefly into outerspace.
* SpritePolygonMix: Virtually everything is composed of polygons... but a few healing items. It seems to be a Sakurai tradition, as ''Kirby Air Ride'' and ''Super Smash Bros.'' also have it.
* StopHelpingMe: Parodied.
-->Pandora: Hand-holding is '''strictly''' prohibited!
* StealthPun: The title. Uprising: Medusa revolts and Pit flies.
* StartOfDarkness: The subject of Studio4C's short is Medusa's FaceHeelTurn and her banishment to the Underworld.
* TakenForGranite: This is a status affliction that can occur.
* TallDarkAndHandsome: Magnus.
* ThatsNoMoon: It's [[spoiler:Arlon's base]].
* [[spoiler:TimeSkip: Between Chapters 17 and 18]].
* TinTyrant: [[RedBaron Dark]] [[EvilOverlord Lord]] [[http://images.wikia.com/nintendo/en/images/e/e2/Dark_Lord_Gaol.png Gaol]], who dons some rather spiffy armor with a BadassCape and SpikesOfVillainy.
* TookALevelInBadass: Pit used to be a weakling, but "countless trials over the years have toughened him up", according to [[MetalGearSolid Snake and Otacon's]] conversation about him in ''Brawl''.
* {{Troll}}: Palutena. ''Oh so much''.
* UnexpectedShmupLevel: Pit goes into forward scrolling rail shooter segments in addition to grounded combat.
* TheUnpronouncable: The SpacePirate Captain's true name is impossible for human tongues to pronounce.
* VoiceOfTheLegion: Gaol has this. [[spoiler:Turns out it's just a synthetic voice made to hide the fact that Gaol is really a human woman.]]
* WhamEpisode: Has several, notably [[spoiler:Chapter 18]].
* WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeOnDrugs: Chapter 5.
* WidgetSeries: Probably the strangest rendition of GreekMythology ever conceived.
* WingedHumanoid: Pit and Dark Pit.
* WingsDoNothing: Pit is incapable of flight, and Palutena has to [[EnigmaticEmpoweringEntity personally]] [[SupernaturalAid bestow]] the "Miracle of Flight" upon him, in order to let him fly for 5 minutes at a time. In ''Brawl'', [[GameplayAndStorySegregation he can't unless]] [[CutscenePowerToTheMax it's a cutscene]]; he can also do it for only a couple seconds as his up recovery move.
* WolverineClaws: Pit has them as a weapon choice.
* WomanInWhite: Palutena, [[RuleOfSymbolism further cementing her status as the Goddess of Light]].
* WorldOfHam[=/=]WorldOfSnark
* WorldsStrongestMan: Magnus is the strongest of the human race.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair:
** Palutena (green; also a case of CurtainsMatchTheWindow).
** [[spoiler: Amazon Pandora]] plays this trope straight.

** There are multiple references to other Nintendo games scattered throughout Uprising:

*** The idol description of the Fairy Orbitars:

* StopHelpingMe: Parodied.
-->Pandora: Hand-holding is '''strictly''' prohibited!
* TallDarkAndHandsome: Magnus.
* ThatsNoMoon: It's [[spoiler:Arlon's base]].

* WhamEpisode: Has several, notably [[spoiler:Chapter 18]].
* WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeOnDrugs: Chapter 5.

* LampshadeHanging:
** Let us put it this way -- the ''first thing'' Pit says in the announcement trailer for ''Uprising'' is "Sorry to keep you waiting!"
** At one point in the demo, Palutena mentions that it's been "about 25 years" since she last battled Medusa. Guess when the original ''VideoGame/KidIcarus'' was released in America. Go on, guess.[[hottip:*:It came out in Japan a year earlier]]

* MarketBasedTitle: ''Uprising'''s Japanese title is ''Shin Hikari Shinwa: Parutena no Kagami'', which, when compared with the original game's Japanese name (''Hikari Shinwa: Parutena no Kagami'') implies it to be either a [[VideoGameRemake remake]] or a [[ContinuityReboot reboot]], even though it's neither.
* MediumAwareness: Oh lord.
* {{Medusa}}: The BigBad of the game. [[spoiler:Sort of.]]
* MiniMecha: [[spoiler:The Great Sacred Treasure, used by Pit to fight Hades during most of the final boss fight.]]
** TransformingMecha: [[spoiler:It has quite a few alternate modes.]]
* MissionControl: Palutena, who converses quite frequently with Pit, even during heated firefights.
** [[spoiler:When Palutena is possessed by the Chaos Kin, Viridi serves as your Mission Control until you save her.]]
* MonsterClown: Thanatos is given this appearance.
* MoodWhiplash: ''Uprising'' may be funny one moment and then dead serious the next.
* MultipleHeadCase: Hewdraw has three heads with distinct personalities. Twinbellows also has multiple heads, though it can't talk.
* NeverSayDie: Surprisingly averted for a Nintendo-game, while referencing the first games NintendoHard Underworld-levels:
-->'''Palutena:''' In your past adventures, the Underworld was where you died the most, right?
* NintendoHard: Has a toggle for this, called the Fiend's Calderon, where players can up the difficulty themselves, and can [[SelfImposedChallenge up the stakes for rewards]] such as stronger weapons.
* NoArcInArchery: Justified, since Pit's arrows are made of light.
* NoFourthWall: '''Good God(s)'''. Pretty much everyone knows they're in a video game. Even [[spoiler:Pandora]] will even remark that she doesn't "look like a strategy guide."
** One bit of banter in the tutorial of the demo has Pit equating Dashing in the game to Dashing in ''SuperSmashBrosBrawl.'' [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments They go off about wanting to play the game,]] with Pit wanting to play as ''[[SuperMarioBros Mario]]'' and Palutena wanting to play as ''{{Kirby}}''.
** One particularly memorable exchange later in ''Uprising'' features a ''Metroid'' ShoutOut:
--> '''Pit''': You know, these Komaytoes sure look a lot like Metroids.
--> [[spoiler:'''Viridi''']]: Don't say that! That game universe has nothing to do with this gaming universe!
** Also this line:
-->"What are we talking here? MiniBoss? FinalBoss?"
* NonIndicativeName: Lampshaded in this game.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Magnus. He's less stylized than the other characters, and wears darker clothing, and has a more normal, deep male voice.
* OlderThanTheyLook: It can be gathered that Pit is at least over 25. Being an angel, it's very likely he is [[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld centuries old.]]
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: Magnus. Apparently, he's willing to fight the forces of a evil god for it.
* OrchestralBombing: Loads of it in ''Uprising.'' Then again, when you have a team of composers notable for this, it's to be expected.
* OurAngelsAreDifferent: They can't fly - at least Pit can't. It's a bit of a sore spot with him.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Hewdraw.
* PermaStubble: Magnus.
* PimpedOutDress: Both Palutena and Medusa sport some rather elegant attire in this game.
* [[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu Pit, Did You Just Punch Out Medusa?]]
* ProgressivelyPrettier: In the manual and Japanese advert of [[VideoGame/KidIcarus the first game]], and even in the final battle, Medusa is depicted as a giant, overweight cyclops monster, even so big that she takes up a whole wall in the final stage. Once defeated, however, she returns to being the same size as Palutena, [[CuteMonsterGirl and kinda cute.]] Now in ''Uprising'', she is just [[EvilIsSexy plain damn sexy.]]
* PsychopathicManchild: Viridi. Probably a thousand years old, and acts like a bratty teenager. With control over the forces of nature.
* RainOfArrows: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jg3260GBljo It's possible to do something like this in]] ''Brawl'', but it's more of a trickle than a rain.
** Now a special ability for the Bow in Uprising.
* RapidFireComedy
* RapunzelHair: Palutena.
* RecycledInSPACE: The Space Pirate ship level. [[spoiler:Gets a whole lot sillier in later chapters; you would think this is a StarFox game]].
* ReptilesAreAbhorrent: Medusa, the GodOfEvil BigBad, has snakes growing in her hair.
** SnakesAreSexy: Somehow, this does not detract from her beauty -- at least, judging by this game -- ''in any way whatsoever.'' Heck, it might actually even ''add'' to it.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: [[spoiler:Pit thinks the Heart of Hades is this. No other internal organ has looked so cute before!]]
* '''RuleOfFunny'''
* [[spoiler:SamusIsAGirl]]: [[spoiler:Dark Lord Gaol is actually a human woman.]]
* SceneryPorn:

This page also contains the Kid Icarus tropes in ''SuperSmashBrosBrawl'', because the character designs in that game are closer to ''Uprising'' than the originals.

* BrokenAngel: [[spoiler:After saving Dark Pit from death, Pit's wings burn up, leaving even the bones exposed. OUCH!]]OUCH!]]
* CampGay: Thanatos in the English version, at least in terms of mannerisms and voice. It's made more apparent in the ''Thanatos Rising'' short, though.
** To give you an idea, he sounds a lot like [[Disney/AliceInWonderland the Mad Hatter]].
** [[spoiler:Hades may also qualify.]]
* CanonImmigrant[=/=]EarlyBirdCameo: Dark Pit was a PaletteSwap for Pit in ''[[VideoGame/SuperSmashBros Brawl]]'' before [[http://kotaku.com/5839916/see-new-video-of-paper-mario-animal-crossing-fire-emblem-kid-icarus-and-more-from-nintendos-3ds-blowout/gallery/4 appearing]] in ''Uprising''.
** Pit and Palutena might be counted as these because they underwent such [[YouDontLookLikeYou major redesigns]]. ''Everything about'' Pit from the non-canon ''Brawl'' makes the jump to ''Uprising'', from his redesigned appearance to his voice (well, his [[MinamiTakayama Japanese one]]) to [[CoolSword his blades]]. Palutena also keeps her ''Brawl'' look.
*** A bit of a subversion. ''Medusa's Revenge'' actually shows a much younger Pit, which resembles his original appearance, albeit with some design elements carried over from his ''Brawl'' design.
* CallBack: A lot in this game, to the point where they use screenshots of the original game when pointing out returning characters.
* CasualDangerDialog: ''All over the place''.
* ChestMonster: This game has them.
* TheChewToy: Poor Pit.
* CloningBlues: [[spoiler:Dark Pit gives off this vibe, at least from what can be seen from the Japanese trailers where he angrily states that he's not a copy, that he's alive.]]
* CuteShotaroBoy: Pit and Dark Pit.
* DarkIsEvil: The residents of the Underworld are AlwaysChaoticEvil, and Medusa is the Goddess of Darkness.
** Dark Pit [[spoiler:starts out like this, but he ends up averting the trope later in the game]].
* DeadpanSnarker: Pit and Palutena take their turns dabbling in this during their exchanges throughout each mission.
** Magnus counts. "You having a private conversation with yourself, angelface?"

* [[spoiler:DiscOneFinalDungeon / DiscOneFinalBoss]]: [[spoiler:The Underworld and Medusa. The ''credits even start rolling.'']]
* DisneyAcidSequence[=/=]MindScrew: Pandora's labyrinth was deliberately designed by her to confuse certain angels who can't fly who try to traverse her labyrinth, with visuals to go with it...
* DolledUpInstallment: ''Uprising'' wasn't originally planned to have anything to do with the ''KidIcarus'' series. Nintendo and Sakurai were just working on a Nintendo 3DS action game involving sky and land combat when they suddenly realized that Pit would be the perfect character for such a title.
* DoubleMeaningTitle: The short "Palutena's Revolting Dinner", referring to the fact that she's a LethalChef and the food is [[LetsMeetTheMeat literally revolting]].
* DualWielding: Pit's bow in ''SuperSmashBrosBrawl'' can be split into two swords.
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette[=/=]RavenHairIvorySkin: Medusa. Take your pick.
* EmbeddedPrecursor: Sort of. Preordering the game would net you a code to download the ''3D Classics'' remake of the original.
* EnemySummoner: In the original game, TheGrimReaper enemies were very hated for it. ''Uprising'' introduces a boss version.
* EverybodyHatesHades: Thanatos, the god of Death, is a high-ranking, and highly evil, member of the Underworld Army. The fact that the Underworld is constantly invading the Earth and Heavens also qualifies. [[spoiler:In addition, the Underworld Army is ''actually'' headed by its god, Hades, who out-evils everyone else. His only motivation in Uprising is to cause as much death and destruction as he can in order to bring more souls to his domain, for him to do with as he pleases. This earns him the ire of ''everyone'', from Pit and Palutena, to the human-hating Nature goddess Viridi]].
* EverythingsSparklyWithJewelry: Palutena.
* EvilCounterpart[=/=]EvilKnockoff[=/=]EvilTwin[=/=]ShadowArchetype: Hey there, Dark Pit.
** You could say that he had something of a predecessor in the form of Putt from ''Of Myths and Monsters''.
* FacialMarkings: Medusa sports some on the left side of her face in her ''Uprising'' design.
* FallenAngel: One of Pit's {{palette swap}}s in ''Brawl'' has black wings and toga. It ascended into ''Uprising'' as [[http://kidicarus.wikia.com/wiki/Dark_Pit Dark Pit.]]
* FanService: Probably the only reason why the second part of ''Palutena's Revolting Dinner'' starts with Palutena in a hot spring.
* FantasyPantheon: Has a mix between this and Greek/Roman gods.
* FauxSymbolism
* [[FlamingHair Flaming Fur]]: Twinbellows.
* FluffyCloudHeaven: While it's probably not actually supposed to be heaven, Skyworld certainly looks the part.
* {{Foil}}: Magnus is one for Pit, even down to the designs of the two characters. Magnus is a deep-voiced adult while Pit is visually and vocally a teenager at best, has a black color scheme contrasting Pit's [[ManInWhite white]], is buff compared to Pit's "thin" frame. They are different in personality as well; Pit fights to defend the humans, while Magnus is only in it for the reward money.
*** Apparently Magnus just ain't good enough, so they're introducing Dark Pit.
** And, of course, there's Palutena's relationship with Medusa, her co-ruler-turned-EvilCounterpart.
* GenreShift: ''Uprising'' is a ThirdPersonShooter rather than a regular platformer.

* HardModePerks: The Intensity levels in ''Uprising'' increase the amount of enemies you face and the usefulness of the rewards[[hottip:*:mostly weapons and powers]] for completing the level.
* {{Hellhound}}: Twinbellows. Like his name implies, [[MultipleHeadCase he has two heads.]]
* {{Hot God}}dess: Palutena. Medusa ''was'' originally this, sharing sovereignty with Palutena until her actions against humans had her cursed and banished to the Underworld. ** [[spoiler:Viridi]], too.
** [[spoiler:You can throw in Phosphora and Amazon Pandora later on, too.]]
* HotBlooded: Pit, more so here than in the original games.
* HumansAreBastards: Something of a recurring theme. Palutena notes, when talking about Magnus, that humans are fundamentally driven by desire, using the mercenary as an example. [[spoiler:Hades gets humans to wage war with themselves to an insane degree by spreading the rumor of the Wish Seed. This draws the ire of the nature goddess Viridi, who begins attempting to annihilate humankind for their greed, violence, and wastefulness. * IgnoringBySinging: Thanatos does this when Palutena and Pit are talking about him.
* IGotBetter: Medusa died. Medusa is back. [[EvilIsSexy And no longer a cyclops.]]
* IGotBigger: Pit's redesign.
* InSeriesNickname: Courtesy of Palutena, "Pittoo" for Dark Pit, [[EmbarrassingNickname much to his annoyance.]]
* IronicEcho:

* JustForFun: Uprising comes with a number of Augmented Reality cards that you can scan; using the AR Cards gets you an idol (just a 3D model of the object/monster in your gallery) and a small pittance of hearts. You can also have two cards "fight," but this doesn't really do anything, it's just for fun.
* KidHero: Pit looks like this, but he is at least over 25 (see "OlderThanTheyLook" below). Of course, [[WeAreAsMayflies by angel standards]], he might still be considered a child or teenager.
* KillAllHumans: [[spoiler:Hades' and Viridi's goal. Hades in particular uses their souls to create more monsters.]]
* KnightTemplar: [[spoiler:Viridi]] towards humans destroying nature. Well, she is ''evil'', so it's kinda justified.

* AffectionateParody: Of GreekMythology.
** Also a parody of video games and all related conventions; sometimes bordering on this trope, other times bordering on the [[DeconstructiveParody "dark"]] counterpart...
* AllStarCast: Kind of. In comparison to Nintendo's usual usage of mostly-unknown voice actors ([[YourMilageMayVary with typically mixed results]]), ''Uprising'' has quite a few recognizable names in voice acting, such as AliHillis and CreeSummer.
* AnachronismStew[=/=]TheGenieKnowsJackNicholson: In the "Thanatos Rising" anime short, Palutena jokes that she found the coordinates for Thanatos's location from his blog. [[FunnyMoments Yep, gods keep blogs.]]
** "RAGE QUIT! RAGE QUIT!"
** The game itself is rife with these, partially due to there being NoFourthWall (after all, video games didn't exist in the days of Greek myth...). There are mentions of laser eye surgery (for Palutena's "Eye of Palutena"), parking lots and ''{{Nintendogs}}''. Some of the weapons include jet engines, laser blades, clubs shaped like skyscrapers, and excavation drills.
* AmericanKirbyIsHardcore:
** Pit's English voice in ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros. Brawl'' noticeably sounds older than his original Japanese voice ([[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWYQx0SvVOI#t=2m36s video comparison]]). His voice is even deeper than that in the English trailer for ''Uprising''.
** Compare [[http://bzzz.3dsbuzz.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/tumblr_lxrdqeJKpZ1qzp9we.jpg the Japanese cover art]] with [[http://bzzz.3dsbuzz.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/tumblr_lxrdqeJKpZ1qzp9we2.jpg the American cover art.]] It almost seems that nearly every Sakurai game is a victim of this trope.

* AnimeOfTheGame: The Nintendo Video anime shorts by ProductionIG, Studio4C, and StudioShaft.
* AntiHero: Magnus... and, later on, [[spoiler:Dark Pit]].
* AntiPoopSocking: As with most Nintendo3DS games, ''Uprising'' advises you to take a break after extended play. Justified, since there's a very real chance that you'll get hand cramps. The game actually ships with a free 3DS stand to make extended play more comfortable.
--> "Don't forget to take a break now and then."
* TheArcher: The Centurions. Pit can also be this if you equip him with a bow.
* AscendedExtra: Dark Pit, who was just a PaletteSwap in ''Brawl,'' is now a major character in ''Uprising.''
* [[AttackOfThe50FootWhatever Attack Of The 50+ Foot Goddess]]: Medusa.
* AscendedMeme: TheStinger of "Thanatos Rising". [[spoiler:[[RageQuit RAGE QUIT! RAGE QUUUUUIT!]]]]
* AttackReflector[=/=]ReverseShrapnel: The Mirror Shield in Uprising functions as such. A ring of three shields circle around Pit's body, deflecting enemy fire. In the original game, it's just a shield.
* AwesomeButImpractical: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8-FGf24cfc Looping arrows]] in ''Brawl''.
* BackFromTheDead: Medusa was killed by Pit in the first game, but [[CaptainObvious comes back in the third]].
* BalefulPolymorph:
** Like in the first game, Pit can be turned into an eggplant, but now he can be turned into Tempura as well.
** [[spoiler:When Pit turns into a Ring in the Chaos Kin Saga, he "transforms" into a dog, a little girl, and Magnus. Pit's still a ring, though, so he can't move on his own -- possibly crossing over into BodyHorror.]]
* BanditMook: Plutons can steal Pit's weapons. Thankfully, you can now destroy them to get your stuff back.
* [[BatmanCanBreatheInSpace Pit Can Breathe In Space]],[[hottip:*:On the other hand, he IS an angel...]]
* BeamSpam: These can occur.
* {{BFS}}: Magnus [[http://images.wikia.com/nintendo/en/images/5/58/Magnus.png has one...]]
* BetterThanABareBulb: This game lampshades typical video game cliches and tropes with rapid-fire frequency (see also NoFourthWall).
* BifurcatedWeapon: In ''SuperSmashBrosBrawl'', Pit's bow can also be used as a single sword or split into [[DualWielding two swords]].
* BigDamnHeroes: Once you reach the city in the first level, you hear the people cheering for the appearance of Pit and Palutena to save their day.
--> '''Pit:''' Do you hear that?! Do you hear the people's cheers? They are celebrating the return of their goddess Palutena!
* BodyHorror: Getting turned into an eggplant... or ''tempura''. Not only do you get "deep-fried" by his attacks, you can also be '''eaten alive'''!!
* BootstrappedTheme: The main theme is largely overshadowed by Underworld at this point, even being used in ''Uprising'''s trailer. Though this may be because [[NintendoHard very few people ever got past that level.]]
* BossBanter: The boss battles (with bosses that can talk) have this.
* BrokenAngel: [[spoiler:After saving Dark Pit from death, Pit's wings burn up, leaving even the bones exposed. OUCH!]]

''Kid Icarus: Uprising'' is a game for the 3DS. It was worked on by Masahiro Sakurai, developer of the ''{{Kirby}}'' series and ''Super Smash Bros'', and came out 19 years after the last ''Kid Icarus'' title. AndTheFandomRejoiced.

Twenty-five years after [[KidIcarus Medusa's defeat]], Medusa has returned to wreak havoc on the world. Now Pit - with the help of Palutena - must once again venture to stop her and her Underworld army.

In addition to the singleplayer campaign, there is a mode for collected AR cards to battle each other, and, of course, since it's by the developer of ''Super Smash Bros'', there's a multiplayer mode. Players who preordered the game got a code for a free download of a 3D-remastered version of the original KidIcarus, and the Nintendo Video application on the 3DS featured three short ''Kid Icarus: Uprising'' anime videos.
