''Extinction'' is a 2018 HackAndSlash-style action game developed by Creator/IronGalaxyStudios and published by Modus Games for the Platform/PlayStation4, Platform/MicrosoftWindows and Platform/XboxOne.

In a steampunk-fantasy universe (not unlike ''Franchise/AttackOnTitan''), humanity is under attack by a race of kaiju-sized, orc-like monstrosities called the Ravenii, emerging from a series of portal one day to devour everything in sight.

Avil, a hunter and sentinel and the PlayerCharacter, is humanity's last hope. Armed with his trusty grappling launcher and swords, he will face a never-ending horde of monsters, taking down the towering Ravenii while battling their hordes and hordes of offspring, the Jackals in several stages.

The game later received a series of {{Expansion Pack}}s -- ''Jackal Invasion'', ''Ravenii Rampage'' and ''Skybound Sentinel''.

Not to be confused with ''Film/Extinction2018'', a film that was coincidentally released the same year.

The mashup between ''VideoGame/ShadowOfTheColossus'' and ''Franchise/AttackOnTitan'', which you never knew existed. Or wants.

* AirborneMooks: There are winged Jackal enemies that will repeatedly swoop from the air to attack either Avil or the civilains. They tend to repeatedly get into Avil's way when he's climbing on a Raveni.
* AirDashing: Avil can pull this off while swinging in mid-air, a skill that comes in very handy when reaching for the Raveni's weak spots and trying ''not'' to be swatted out the air.
* AlwaysChaoticEvil: Implied with the Ravenii and their offspring, the Jackals. They exist to devour everything in sight, destroy cities and stomp on humans for no reason other than satisfying their thirst for blood. By the game's ending we still don't even know what's their beef against humans.
