''Cyber Shadow'' is an action-platformer inspired by many on the UsefulNotes/NintendoEntertainmentSystem, mostly ones developed by Creator/{{Sunsoft}} and Creator/{{Natsume}}, with fast action and lots of close-range combat. There are also light {{metroidvania}} elements; the game's world is interconnected and there are new abilities and upgrades to obtain throughout the story, but each area is a "chapter" that works as a linear level.

* NintendoHard: The game not only takes inspiration from the look and feel of earlier NES titles, but their difficulty, too. Although Shadow has unlimited lives and save points are scattered throughout, the level design and enemy placement is sure to challenge even seasoned NES veterans: There are no defensive upgrades, life recovery pickups are rare and only drop from specific enemies and item containers, the MercyInvincibility window is very short, doesn't protect you from OneHitKill spikes and pits and {{knockback}} is present in full force. The enemies in the later levels demand full mastery of Shadow's abilities to defeat unscathed and can deal up to 3 points of damage per hit, which is 1/5th of his maximum length lifebar. Unless you know exactly what lies ahead, expect to die. A lot.
