* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: Nova, the leader of the Sundown Squad, wants to be [[HeroicWannabe recognized as a hero]], but everyone sees him as the local troublemaker, since he does things like stealing the Summoning Rod for his nonsensical plans. At the end of Chapter 1X, he does get a chance at heroics [[spoiler:due to partnering with the Crimson Prism Stone, but he comes to the grim realization that Chroma's army will come after him to get to Crimson. His only consolation is that Amos won't get caught up in the Sundown Squad's burdens after joining Lunita, not realizing that Lunita is already in conflict with Count Chroma]].

* ShadowedFaceGlowingEyes: Nova, Klieg, Fluoros, and Amos all wear some manner of hat or helmet that obscures their face, showing only the glow of their eyes. It's ambiguous if any of these four are human, since the setting contains anthropomorphic characters and robots. Additionally, unlike most examples of this trope in Torch's games, they have pupils and irises.
* SquishyWizard: Lunita has low HP growth, but has high magic stats. However, her Zodiac can slightly influence her stat growth.

Maru has average to high growths in HP, Attack, Defense, Speed, and Focus, but has low MP, Mind, and Force.Force.
** Similarly, Nova has excellent physical stats and has a skill to draw aggro, but has no spells. However, he has decent Force and can tank magic attacks better.
** Klieg is the strongest physical attacker of the Sundown Squad, but his Mind and Force stats are low. Unlike all other characters in the game, he has no MP skills whatsoever and instead spends HP for his non-Astra skills.

Lunita is the daughter of Merryday Village's Oracle, but lacks the motivation to apply herself as the next Oracle. During the day of the Crescent Festival, she finds the Violet Prism Stone, which grants her additional power over the moon's cycle. Unfortunately, the fearsome Count Chroma seeks the Prism Stone for his own ambitions of world domination and threatens to destroy Merryday if Lunita doesn't surrender it. Together with the putty pup Maru, the sharpshooter Amos, and the Engine Knight Rain, Lunita must defeat Count Chroma and his vast army of robots in order to protect her village.

!This game contains examples of:
* ActionPrologue: The game begins with the party on Count Chroma's ship. Although the scripted battles all have Lunita fight alone, she has the stats and skills to effortlessly defeat Chroma's mooks.

* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: After the credits, the game will shift to the Sundown Squad's perspective just after Amos left them.
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: According to the [=RPGMaker.net=] character page, Maru is 4 months old in Chapter 1, making him the youngest party member by a large margin.
* BarrierChangeBoss: Bouncer starts with no element, but as the battle rages on, they'll change to fire or ice form, making them weak to the opposite element.
* BigBad: Count Chroma is an EvilOverlord who seeks to use his army of robots and the Prism Stones to conquer the world, and Merryday happens to contain the last of the stones he needs.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Count Chroma initially seems to be a gentlemanly tourist in Merryday Village, but he's actually an AxCrazy villain who will stop at nothing to obtain the power of the Prism Stones. While he will show [[FauxAffablyEvil politeness]] towards his minions at first, he's also quick to kill them out of rage simply for being late in implementing his plans.
* BittersweetEnding: Count Chroma is temporarily defeated [[spoiler:and Chapter 1X confirms that at the very least, the Crimson Prism Stone slips out of his grasp and into Nova's. Unfortunately, Astrid is nowhere to be found and the location of four of the Prism Stones is unknown]].
* ConflictingLoyalty: Amos follows the Sundown Squad in order to learn how to be "cool" like them, but Nova treats him like a nuisance while the other two are indifferent towards him. When he forms an EnemyMine with Lunita and Maru, he finds that they treat him much better than the Sundown Squad, but still can't bring himself to break off from his current team. After Lunita and Maru defeat the Sundown Squad, Astrid advises Amos to rethink his definition of strength and coolness. When he spots Lunita and Maru storming into Chroma Tower, Amos decides to follow them against Nova's orders.
* CoolAunt: Downplayed with Lunita's aunt Rain, who is a playable character and a supportive figure in Lunita's life, but she's also willing to mooch off Lunita for money.
* DefeatMeansFriendship:
** Flayt is a balloon who attacks Lunita for being too rough when pulling him out of Minister Orange's box. Afterwards, he calms down and helps Minister Orange draw a crowd for the festival. Later, he gives Lunita advice about dungeon mechanics.
** Laundro is initially angry at Lunita for putting soap in them without permission, but one dungeon later, they help Lunita learn a new Astra skill.
* {{Deuteragonist}}: After beating Chapter 1, the player is thrust into Chapter 1X, where they take control of Nova as he starts to realize how poorly he treated Amos. Nova [[spoiler:ends up partnering with the Crimson Prism Stone, showing that he's going to be a major player in future chapters]].
* DynamicDifficulty: The enemy formations are usually the same size as the current party, which means if a character is added or removed for story reasons, the enemy headcount will change accordingly.
* FauxAffablyEvil: Even after he's exposed as a megalomaniacal conqueror, Count Chroma acts like a polite, yet condescending gentleman while in his normal state. In his red state, he goes mad with power and drops all pleasantries in favor of being a loud, AxCrazy lunatic.
* GatheringSteam: The boss of Chapter 1X, Rail Ravager, gets 10% stronger every turn due to receiving the moon's light. Nova can invert the moon's phase to reset the boss's power, but the battle is scripted to start in waxing moon, which means the boss's mechanic cannot be disabled with a new moon.
* GuestStarPartyMember: Astrid temporarily joins the party when fighting Chroma Gunner, but acts automatically. In Chroma Tower, [[spoiler:she has a scripted automatic battle with Count Chroma, where they exchange blows before Astrid seemingly sacrifices herself to defeat him]].
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: Amos joined the Sundown Squad in the hopes he could learn to be as strong and cool as them, but it's clear that the leader, Nova, doesn't appreciate him.
* JerkassRealization: Nova starts feeling guilt about his treatment of Amos when the latter leaves the Sundown Squad in order to help Lunita traverse Chroma Tower.
* JerkassToOne: Nova is a Crueler to One example, since he treats Amos the worst out of everyone. He makes the latter do pointless tasks like punching rocks, insults him for perceived failures, and doesn't even let him fight alongside the rest of the Sundown Squad in their boss battle.
* KnightTemplar: Played for laughs. Nova thinks of himself as a hero for trying to prevent the sunset so that people will be able to do more while awake. Everyone else sees him as a bumbling and loud troublemaker.
* LazyBum: Although Lunita is expected to succeed her mother as the Oracle of Merryday Village, she'd rather sleep in on the weekends and skip on festival duties.
* Lunacy: The phases of the moon affect the abilities of both Lunita and enemies. Lunita and many enemies have Astra skills that can change the current phase of the moon, and the Prism Stones can grant such Astra skills to anyone who wields them.
* MagicallyIneptFighter: Maru has average to high growths in HP, Attack, Defense, Speed, and Focus, but has low MP, Mind, and Force.
* MaskOfSanity: Count Chroma initially acts like a cultured and eloquent gentleman, but if he's even the slightest bit angered, he'll turn red, scream threats, and attempt to murder anyone who defies him.
* MightyGlacier: Rain can equip heavy armor and has decent attack, but is also the slowest party member.
* MissingStepsPlan: Nova, the leader of the Sundown Squad, claims that by preventing the sun from setting, everyone will be able to avoid bedtime and have more time to achieve their personal dreams. His teammates point out that this doesn't solve the issue of most sentient life needing time to rest, with or without nighttime.
* NoBodyLeftBehind: After the battle with Count Chroma in Chapter 1, [[spoiler:Count Chroma and Astrid are nowhere to be found. However, Count Chroma is still alive after the time skip, making Astrid's fate [[UncertainDoom ambiguous]]]].
* PoorCommunicationKills: Lunita somehow neglected to tell her mother about Count Chroma attacking her. This leaves Merryday Village vulnerable to his invasion.
* RandomEncounters: If a map contains random encounters, the moon phase HUD will display an exclamation or checkmark, with the latter indicating that the player is overleveled for the area and that they can press confirm to skip encounters. If a map has no random encounters, a static hourglass symbol will be displayed instead.
* SecretAIMoves: As bosses, the Sundown Squad automatically gains invincibility during certain moon phases. As playable characters, they have to use up their turn and spend AP in order to get that invincibility, making their gimmick little more than a glorified and situational defend command.
* SentientPhlebotinum: The Prism Stones grant their wielder power from the moon, but they all have their own consciousness. The only two Prism Stones with speaking roles in the first chapter are Violet in the main scenario and [[spoiler:Crimson in the Sundown Squad's scenario]].
* StarterVillain: The Scorchpion is the first boss of the game, who gained the power of Astra skills from the Violet Prism Stone.
* ATasteOfPower: In the ActionPrologue, Lunita is at high enough level to defeat Count Chroma's minions by herself. Then the game cuts to 10 years ago where she's a level 1 apprentice Oracle.
* TimeLimitBoss: Count Chroma's third form starts the battle with a new moon, but once the moon is full, he'll wipe out the party with one attack. Fortunately, Lunita learns Astral Reverse skill, which changes the moon to the previous phase.
* TokenAdult: At 27 years old, Rain is the only adult party member. After the ten year timeskip, everyone is an adult.
* TheWorfEffect: Thanks to the power of five Prism stones, Count Chroma is able to curbstomp the entire party and Astrid, with the latter being the strongest person in Merryday Village. [[spoiler:Even when Professor Tide shows up with a device to weaken Count Chroma, the latter still isn't down for the count. The party only survives because Astrid seemingly sacrifices herself using Violet's power, and even that didn't kill Count Chroma]].
* WrenchWench: Rain is an Engine Knight who specializes in building machines in the middle of battle. Bonus points for wielding wrenches as her weapon.
