Outside of the gaming having a post-apocalyptic setting and a "man vs. machine" theme like Oniken, as well as enemies being similar to Oniken, I don't think the game is set in the same timeline as Oniken. The "ONIKEN PROTOCOL" is most likely an Easter Egg. Also, Oniken is set in 20XX while Blazing Chrome is set in 21XX, with no reference to the characters from Oniken, or a cameo.
