* CowboyBebopAtHisComputer: When the series started, Ryan was the only one doing any research or fact-checking for it, which resulted in him occasionally missing certain details or making untrue statements.
** A minor one. In the Zodiac Killer episode, Brent refers to a "letter-writing desk" and says there's a specific name for them. An image briefly flashes up on screen saying "there isn't." Brent was probably referring to a [[https://www.google.com/search?q=secretary+desk&rlz=1C1MKDC_enUS773US773&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwib-_CWiu3YAhXhmOAKHc9DB2MQ_AUICygC&biw=1600&bih=794 Secretary Desk]], which, clearly, ''does'' have a specific name.
** In the Illuminati episode, Ryan had no idea that cloning is a real thing.
** In "3 Horrifying Cases of Ghosts and Demons," Ryan and Shane both dismiss the idea that the Winchester Mystery House's odd architecture is a result of Sarah Winchester's arthritis. However, her arthritis has never been proposed as a reason for her building the house--it's only used to explain her reclusiveness and a few of the additions made near the end of her life, such as sets of stairs with extremely low risers.
** In the "Somerton Man" video, Ryan has no clue what a pasty is and thinks it's just what they call a pastry in Australia. Not knowing or even looking up that a pasty ''is a type'' of pastry, commonly associated with the UK, not Australia.
** While there ''is'' a prison in Ohio named the Ohio State Penitentiary, it's a completely different, ''working'' prison located in Youngstown. The one they investigated is called the Ohio State Reformatory, located in Mansfield.
** Among the many things Ryan gets wrong about the architectural and engineering expertise of ancient builders in the Ancient Aliens episode, they seem to believe that the pyramids were built by slaves. It's known nowadays that the pyramids were built by paid laborers.
** Also in Ancient Aliens, the idea that the number pi was incorporated into the Great Pyramid. Ryan just said it supposedly was, but that's something that can actually be checked; it's math, after all. There's some math you can do that comes out to 3.1425, which is not the same as pi, 3.1415.
** Again from Ancient Aliens: the Egyptians had no understanding of Orion's Belt as a constellation, since it wasn't called that yet when those pyramids were built. They simply built the pyramids like they did in order to look evenly-spaced from the river.
** In "The Creepy Murder in Room 1046," Ryan reads a report of a "commercial woman" visiting said room. When Shane asks what that term means, Ryan merely states it was just a well-dressed woman (inferring she looked like an actress or model who might appear in a television commercial.) A few jokes were made about the Pine-Sol lady and they moved on. In reality, even a cursory glance at the case's Wikipedia article will explain a "commercial woman" was a polite euphemism at the time to refer to a prostitute.

According to Ryan in the Axe-Man post-Mortem, research that was done for the episode mentions that Louis was accused of being a Nazi spy by his wife.

** In the episode about the Axeman of New Orleans, Ryan says one of the victims, Louis Besumer, was suspected of being a German spy. Except at one point, he says he was accused of being a Nazi spy, even though the incident took place in 1918 and the Nazi Party didn't even exist until 1920.

* TroubledProduction: They’ve talked a little about the Island Of The Dolls going badly (thanks to shitty humans, to clarify), enough that they were apparently both scared they were going to die, and Ryan expanded in a [[https://www.patreon.com/posts/watcher-weekly-36069741 Watcher Weekly Plus]] that they have “we’re getting scammed!” as an in-joke as a reminder that any current situation isn’t as bad as that one.
* ThePeteBest: Ever since the web show’s popularity exploded as a result of Shane coining the “demons” meme, newer fans rewatching the series from the beginning become confused by Brent’s presence in the early episodes and express their preference for Shane over him.
