In late 2018, it was announced that series lead Creator/AndrewLincoln [[note]]who decided to leave the show to spend more time with his family; Lincoln lives in the UK whereas the series is filmed in Georgia for roughly six months a year, a schedule which has grown increasingly more difficult as Lincoln’s children have grown older[[/note]] would star in a trilogy of AMC original movies. This trilogy of films is set to be the first installments in a larger collection of films featuring both new and old characters in the show’s universe.

As noted above, ''The Walking Dead'' will conclude in late 2022 with its eleventh season; however, a spin-off focusing on main protagonist Daryl Dixon, played by Creator/NormanReedus, has been greenlit for 2023.
