* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Done on purpose with the Ninningers. The way the Japanese pronounce the word "ranger" is "renjaa". So Aka Ninger's name, said or written in Japanese (Or in fact when said by a [[UsefulNotes/BritishAccents Brit]]), will be Aka Ninja.

The TitleThemeTune was performed by Yohei Onishi.

* SurprisinglyGoodEnglish: PlayedForLaughs. In Shinobi 31, when Kinji's 'special skill' was taken away... he couldn't speak Japanese and instead speaks in perfectly normal English. Which means, his special skill was his "{{Jidaigeki}}-style" Japanese.

* PinkMeansFeminine: Zigzagged. Kasumi, the pink ranger, is still female, but she's the team's [[TheSmartGuy tech gal]]. Instead, the role of TheChick goes to Fuka, the white ranger who has pink lines on her uniform. However, Fuka is nevertheless the tomboy to Kasumi's girly girl.

** Speaking of him, episode 16 also has [[spoiler: Takaharu talking about how cool it would be for him, Tsumuji, and Yoshitaka to be a three-generational ninja team. Tsumuji says that would be nice. Also, while the team is helping him pretend to be a great ninja to fool the MonsterOfTheWeek, he really gets into it, and reveals that he still has ''some'' power left. So, not the {{Muggle}} who was never cut out for ninjutsu that we were presented with in the beginning, is he?]]
** There is talk about [[spoiler: how students eventually grow beyond their masters and leave them behind]] not long before Yoshitaka [[spoiler: dies. Even before his death, we see him fade at points, suggesting that he's being sustained by unnatural means that are not permanent. However, he would lose the End Shuriken to Kyuuemon before finding out one way or another how long it could've kept him going.]]

** The Advanced Shuriken Ninpo are even more of this: It's bascially a technique to simulate an illusion by creating a mix of multiple elements.

* Yakumo "Cloud" Kato ("The Rumbling Cloud") / '''[[blue:Ao Ninger]]''' (Blue): He's got [[TheLancer a much cooler head]] than Takaharu, but also kinda arrogant. Studied wizardry in England, which he uses to supplement his ninja skills.
* Nagi Matsuo ("The Dazzling Stillness") / '''[[gold:Ki Ninger]]''' (Yellow): The swiftest and [[KidAppealCharacter youngest one on the team]]. Always working his best to catch up with his teammates/cousins in strength and success.
* Fuuka Igasaki ("The Flower in the Wind") / '''Shiro Ninger''' (White): Takaharu's younger sister and the one with the least tolerance for his fiery brand of stupidity. [[TheLancer Reliable, optimistic]], and a bit of a ButtMonkey.
* Kasumi Momochi ("The Shimmering Haze") / '''[[pink:Momo Ninger]]''' (Pink): A university student who [[TheSmartGirl loves science and engineering]]. Has quite [[DeadpanSnarker the sharp tongue]] as well.
* Kinji Takigawa ("The Shining Star") / '''[[cinnamon:[[SixthRanger Star Ninger]]]]''' (Gold): An [[{{Eagleland}} American]] ninja/[[AmericansAreCowboys cowboy]] who loves playing rock music and taking selfies with his hamburger-shaped cellphone/TransformationTrinket. The only member of the team not related to the others. Initially TheRival.

!! Kibaoni Army Corps:
Our villains for the season, an army of demons who were sealed away by special Sealing Shuriken used by "The Last Ninja" Yoshitaka Igasaki, the Ninningers' grandfather. Now freed from their imprisonment, they resume their mission to gather "The Power Of Fear" by terrorizing humanity.
* Gengetsu Kibaoni: [[BigBad The leader of the Kibaoni]], who was defeated by Yoshitaka. He can use the Sealing Shuriken to infuse inanimate objects with his will to turn them into Youkai.
* Kyuemon Izayoi: TheDragon and commander of the Youkai, who collects the "Power of Fear" created by the Youkai. [[spoiler: Formerly a student of Yoshitaka, and also Gengetsu's firstborn son.]]
* Raizo Gabi: TheBrute. One of the high-ranked generals, he's a commander with [[BloodKnight an undying thirst for]] [[WorthyOpponent a worthy fight]].
* Masakage Tsugomori: Gengetsu's Head [[EvilGenius Strategist]] and Chief Retainer. Acts like a playful old man in order to carry out his plans.
* Ariake no Kata: Gengetsu's [[DarkChick wife]]. Vain and bossy to the extreme.
* Mangetsu Kibaoni: Gengetsu and Ariake's newlyborn son. Seems like a SpoiledBrat, but is far stronger and smarter than he looks.
