* SpySpeak: When Jeff discusses the activities of a local drug dealer with the informant "Dollar Bill", they use several euphemisms involving convenience stores and instant coffee to refer to drug-related activities.

* NastyToTheWaiter: One of the many ways that the antagonist Fraser Barton Colborne establishes himself as antisocial is by verbally abusing a foodservice worker for misspelling his name. Fraser eventually murders her in retaliation.

* LackOfEmpathy: {{Averted}}. Fraser is fully capable of empathy, but suppresses it to accomplish his goals.

* DisproportionateRetribution: Aside from murdering a large number of shoppers due to rude customers, Fraser also kills a fast-food kiosk worker for misspelling his name.

Drake is also dismissive of any alleged threats Fraser made, and [[GeorgeJetsonJobSecurity threatens to fire Garth]] when he presses the issue.
** The unnamed radio [[SmarmyHost host]] attempts to [[SocietyIsToBlame portray Fraser Barton Colborne as a victim of society]], mentioning Fraser's troubled life as a youth, and is promptly called out on the air by Fraser's foster sister, Jo-Ann Aldrich, who accuses the host of insulting the memories of the victims, as well as insulting her, who lived the same troubled life and attempted to transcend it. When the host attempts to defend themselves, Jo-Ann accuses them of [[NoSympathy lacking sympathy]] for Fraser's victims and refusing to hold Fraser accountable.

* RayOfHopeEnding: While Fraser succeeds at achieving most of his goals, save for killing Garth, killing scores of people, the survivors are shown persevering with their lives, and paying tribute to the fallen, with Jeff noting that each and every individual can improve society.
