After Jade expresses regret over her previous career as an assassin, Paul offers to do something about it -- namely, try bringing back her victims using Lazarus pits, with the side benefit of being able to properly study what the Pits do. Talia and Nyssa al Ghul are willing to give him some assistance, but lack in-depth knowledge about how they work, since they're a finite resource that was previously monopolised by Ra's.

After Jade expresses regret over her previous career as an assassin, Paul offers to do something about it -- namely, try bringing back her victims using Lazarus pits, with the side benefit of being able to properly study what the Pits do. Jade is dubious about whether that will help.

Paul then tells her about his comic meta-knowledge, and introduces her to Alan. While visiting him, they are attacked by Grundymen under the control of a Puritan magician from Witch World. The magician sensed traces of Klarion's magic on Paul, but is delighted to learn of Klarion's death.

Paul then visits
Talia and Nyssa al Ghul about the Lazarus Pits. Both are willing to give him some assistance, but lack in-depth knowledge about how they work, since they're a finite resource that was previously monopolised by Ra's.

The Renegade prepares to arrest the corrupt British government officials (most of the executive and legislature). As part of that, he commissions a red ring from a Qwardian, which Geoffrey Talbot is able to wield.

After Jade expresses regret over her previous career as an assassin, Paul offers to do something about it - namely, try bringing back her victims using Lazarus pits, with the side benefit of being able to properly study what the Pits do. Unfortunately, some of her victims are in Hell, and when Paul attempts to revive one, Satanus is able to use the connection to open a portal and drag Paul and his associates into Hell. Despite running low on demon-slayer ammunition, Paul is able to hold off the ambush long enough for them to escape.

!!! Longer version

After Jade expresses regret over her previous career as an assassin, Paul offers to do something about it - -- namely, try bringing back her victims using Lazarus pits, with the side benefit of being able to properly study what the Pits do. The first few experiments are partially successful, reviving one subject successfully and failing to revive one who had already been reincarnated. However,
some of her victims are in Hell, and when Paul attempts to revive one, one of them, Satanus is able to use the connection to open a portal and drag Paul and his associates into Hell. Despite running low on demon-slayer ammunition, Paul is able to hold off the ambush long enough for them to escape.
