Picking up from the last scene of the previous episode, Matt sits down with Jessica and introduces himself, revealing that he was sent by Foggy. He asks some basic questions, but Jessica refuses to answer. Matt comments that he is aware of Jessica's past activities, and what she did to Kilgrave, so it's in her best interests to be open and forthcoming with him, but she insists nothing happened, and Matt allows her to leave. As Jessica leaves, she calls Malcolm to ask what he told the detective that questioned him, unaware that Matt is listening to her. Aware of what Foggy has asked of him, Matt decides to follow her.

Jessica interviews John Raymond's wife and daughter to get some answers, with no success. While not going into specifics, she reveals that she thinks John was being targeted. As she's leaving, Jessica gets the uneasy feeling that she's being followed. After a few minutes, she notices Matt shadowing her, hanging a few steps back. In an attempt to lose him, Jessica ducks into a storefront, taking advantage of the crowd of pedestrians, and causing Matt to lose track of her. He continues walking, only to quickly realize that Jessica has managed to turn the tables so that she is following him instead. Needing to make a quick getaway, he cuts through an alleyway and parkours up to a fire escape and disappears, not noticing as Jessica takes several pictures of him. Catching her breath, Jessica gets a phone call from Duncan and Dotter Designs regarding an appointment she made for that afternoon to talk to John's colleagues. Unbeknownst to her, Matt has found a new hiding place to listen in on her call.

At Duncan and Dotter Designs, Jessica talks to one of John Raymond's colleagues, posing as a goofy blog owner looking for communal workspace. After some schmoozing, she gets the colleague to reveal that John recently designed a skyscraper in Hell's Kitchen: Midland Circle. Satisfied, Jessica waits for the colleague to leave before snapping some photographs on her phone to get the address.

Up in Harlem, Luke visits Cole's mother and gives her the lottery tickets. They reminisce a bit about Cole and his childhood. Apparently, Cole has a box of stuff on a shelf that's too high for Dolores to reach, and Luke realizes this might be where Cole is keeping his ill-gained money. Sure enough, when Luke looks at the box, he finds a roll of cash. Wrapped around the wad of cash is a valet stub...for Midland Circle Financial. Before Luke can dwell further, Dolores receives a phone call with some sad news: Cole has been murdered in jail, on orders from the Hand, for snitching to Luke.

In the meanwhile, the paths of our four heroes all merge on Midland Circle, a high-rise skyscraper on 44th Street located on what used to be [[Recap/Daredevil2015S1E5WorldOnFire Elena Cardenas' tenement]]. Danny arrives first in a hired Rand company car, and dressed in a suit and tie to give the appearance that he's here on official business. He talks his way past the receptionist, saying he wants to meet the [=CEOs=] of Midland Circle Financial. Danny is taken upstairs, and escorted by a secretary down a very stark white hallway to a board room. He announces to the board that he is planning to expose them and all of the criminal activities the Hand has been involved in. That is, until he's interrupted by the arrival of Alexandra, who appreciates his candor and isn't fazed by his arrival, and asks him to continue.

Jessica is the second to arrive...with Matt right behind her, having regained her tail. Knowing [[Recap/Daredevil2015S2E7SemperFidelis exactly what is going on at this address]], Matt accosts Jessica and warns her to leave the building immediately. Jessica gets exasperated at Matt's persistent tailing her and demands answers about what he's up to, especially as a blind man who can do parkour. When she lets slip that she's taken pictures of him, Matt abruptly smashes Jessica's camera.

Upstairs, Danny continues his monologue to Alexandra and the board, explaining how he plans to take them all down. Alexandra is nonplussed when Danny reveals he is the Iron Fist, and cautions Alexandra that she'll soon lose everything, just like he did. The meeting then abruptly turns hostile, as the secretary that escorted Danny in suddenly pulls a gun on him. Danny swiftly disarms her and takes her hostage. In the struggle, her gun goes off, a sound that Matt hears down in the lobby. As this is exactly the type of situation he was trying to avoid, Matt steals Jessica's scarf and ties it around his head to use as a mask, then makes his way towards the stairwell.

Alexandra tells Danny that she's crossed paths with previous Iron Fists, but unlike his predecessors, she's not going to kill him, but capture him. Furthermore, there's no use trying to use the secretary as a hostage, for the "board members" are more hired henchmen who are armed with collapsible batons. Realizing he is woefully outnumbered, Danny throws the secretary aside and engages Alexandra's henchmen. He manages to disarm and knock down most of the first wave of men, only for a second team to show up and try shooting him with tranquilizer pistols. He is able to disarm most of the second team, before the fighters from the first team manage to get a second wind and dogpile on him, pinning him down.

Matt, meanwhile, runs up the stairs, emerging on the top floor at the same moment that Jessica emerges from the elevator. As they walk down the hall, Luke and Danny's fight bursts through the wall in front of them. Luke and Jessica are surprised to see each other, but there's no time to exchange pleasantries as she tries to ask Luke about Danny, and he in turn tries to ask her about Matt. Before they head to the elevator, Matt senses something very unusual coming towards them. Seconds later, Elektra comes around the corner, sporting her katanas. Jessica and Danny pale as they recognize Elektra from [[Recap/TheDefenders2017S1E1TheHWord their]] [[Recap/TheDefenders2017S1E2MeanRightHook prior encounters]] with her. They begin retreating towards the elevator, only to find their way being blocked by more henchmen coming up the stairwell. Luke, Jessica and Danny begin fighting the henchmen, while Matt engages Elektra in a one on one fight. After an intense fight, Elektra manages to stun Matt with a timed kick that tosses him into a bookcase. As he lays there, prone, Matt recognizes Elektra's heartbeat and says her name, confused. Elektra pauses, thinking Matt's voice sounds familiar. As she picks up one of her katanas and prepares to finish Matt off, Danny suddenly appears and uses the Iron Fist to shatter Elektra's blade and throw her backwards through a window. He then helps Matt to his feet, and the two hurry to join Luke and Jessica before escaping down the elevator.

* BothSidesHaveAPoint: Danny and Luke argue about the ethics of leaving Cole to the police. Danny argues that he was assisting the Hand and that good intentions don't excuse anything, while Luke says that he was providing for his family and was desperate, and that bottom-level grunts like Cole are less accountable for their actions when they may not even know who exactly is pulling strings.

* CameBackWrong: Combined with CameBackStrong for Elektra, as she is more powerful than ever after her resurrection, but awakes in an almost feral state, having to learn how to speak again and not remembering anything from her old life. Later in the episode, Matt's reaction to her approach implies that his senses don't even register her as ''human'' anymore.

** Danny's entrance to Midland Circle is very akin to his first attempt to enter Rand Enterprises. This time, though, he's dressed appropriately and more confident.

* ContrivedCoincidence: Danny, Luke and Jessica all individually discover around the same time that Midland Circle is where they should go, and Matt was just following Jessica. They also all happen to pick the same moment to go there and investigate further, thus leading to their first meeting. Somewhat justified, since Alexandra's illness is forcing them to proceed with less discretion than they typically use.

* {{Foreshadowing}}: "Wakizashi, good choice. They won't know what's coming until it's too late." [[spoiler:Elektra later kills Alexandra with her wakizashi.]]

* HallwayFight: The classic Netflix Marvel hallway fight comes in. It starts in the boardroom as Danny confronts Alexandra and after taking out a dozen fighters armed with tranquilizer guns, is eventually overpowered by a second wave. He is about to be captured when Luke suddenly bursts down the doors and they fight their way out. They burst out into the nearby hallway just as Matt and Jessica arrive. After an awkward exchange as Luke and Jessica recognize each other, they find themselves pinned down with Elektra approaching on one side and a bunch of goons coming from the elevator side. Luke, Jessica and Danny handle the henchmen while Matt finds himself dealing with Elektra one-on-one.

Partway through her meal, the mysterious White Hat, real name Sowande, enters the restaurant and informs Alexandra that they have acquired the Black Sky.

Luke returns to Claire's apartment and puts an ice pack to his face to dull the pain from where Danny punched him. He uneasily tells Claire about watching Cole get arrested. Claire's curiosity is piqued when Luke reveals he got punched by some skinny white kid with a glowing fist, and immediately picks up the phone, telling Luke "there's someone that you need to meet." The next morning, Claire drags Luke down to Colleen's dojo so he and Danny can be properly introduced to each other. Luke is incredulous at most of what Danny reveals, especially the Hand's ability to revive the dead. They make some small praises of what the other has done, but they come to blows when it comes to what Danny had been doing, roughing up Cole. Luke argues that Danny was too hard on Cole, who is a bottom-feeder that probably doesn't know what his bosses' ulterior motives are, and Danny can be doing much more going after the leadership with his privilege and status as a billionaire. Danny thinks there's no reasonable excuse for Cole's actions. The conversation ends with Luke storming out.

He asks Luke to hand his mother some scratch lottery tickets, tearfully apologizing as he's led away by guards.

Danny and Colleen pay a visit to Rand Enterprises and stop by a property clerk. Danny thinks he can find the leaders of the Hand by tracing their money. A quick search on the computer leads Danny to learn that the Hand moved a lot of money through Rand to a single location: Midland Circle Financial in Midtown. Danny deduces that this must be where the Hand's base of operations are decided. Contemplating his options, he decides that he will need to pay them a visit, and fly solo.

The surprise gives Danny an opening to toss one of the henchmen towards Luke, and free himself from the other henchmen who are distracted by the new arrival. Luke then shields Danny and they take down two more henchmen who enter firing automatic rifles at them, before they find themselves surrounded by teams of armed henchmen from both entrance points into the room.

Acting like a reassuring mother, Alexandra gets Elektra up to speed, helping her regain the memory to speak. After some time, it's time for Elektra to be retrained in fighting. She initially thinks of using her old sais, but instead takes a bladed katana. With Alexandra watching, Elektra is put through basic sparring lessons. Her trainers start her with basic non-fatal weapons in one-on-one matches. Then she is taught how to fight multiple opponents. Then comes the real test: moving from non-fatal batons to knifeplay. Elektra demonstrates she's ready, as unarmed, she manages to in total darkness grab twin katanas and kill ten opponents in a matter of seconds. As a reward for passing the test, Alexandra gives Elektra a new armored suit for fighting.

A few seconds later, the lights come back on, and all ten ninjas are lying dead around Elektra's feet as she drops two katanas she managed to grab from one of them.
