* OutOfCharacterAlert: "Rhodey" demands his bodyguard open the door to his car and then close it behind him, despite the bodyguard nursing a broken arm. The real Rhodey, who’s been paralyzed since ''Civil War'', would obviously never be so inconsiderate to any man under his command let alone one injured in the line of duty.

* SpotTheImpostor: Gravik attempts to pose as an allied soldier by grabbing Talos and bringing him to Fury's car. The ruse fails because that same soldier freaked out upon seeing Talos revert to Skrull form when Pagon shot him, so Fury knows he wouldn't suddenly go out of his way to take the wounded man to safety. Fury shoots the soldier, who promptly reveals himself to be Gravik and stabs Talos in the chest.

* FanDisservice: Normally, seeing a woman dry herself off after taking a shower would be appealing for male viewers...except in this case, she's a green, reptilian alien who then immediately shapeshifts into a man.

the "double" part happens when the target is already dead(-looking) while Gravik almost No Sells it; if "it's not too surprising", it's not a "Surprisingly" Realistic Outcome; "big thing happens" Wham shoehorn

* BittersweetEnding: G'iah is revealed to be alive, and Fury and Talos are able to save President Ritson from Gravik's latest attack. However, Talos is killed in the process, and Gravik still does enough damage to potentially lead to all-out war between the US and Russia.

* DoubleTap: Fury attempts this on Gravik after he kills Talos. Gravik, now infused with Extremis, just shrugs it off.

* ProperlyParanoid: The Skrull impersonating Rhodey is suspicious of Fury's bourbon, believing it's been tampered with and refusing to drink at first. When she thinks she has the upper hand, however, she gulps it down as a power move, playing right into Fury's hands.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: Given that both Nick Fury and Talos are more or less the only "good guys" involved in the climactic shoot-out, and neither of them have superpowers, it's not too surprising that they both don't end up making it out alive (and while Talos may be middle-aged and thus in theory more physically fit than an old man like Fury when taking into account the physical similarities between Skrulls and humans, he doesn't have nearly the same experience or training as Fury).

* WhamEpisode:
** Gravik kills Talos in this episode.
** Rhodey is revealed to have been replaced by a Skrull.
* WhamShot: Gravik kills a Secret Service agent by generating [[Franchise/GuardiansOfTheGalaxy Groot-like branches]] from his arm to crush him to death, meaning he's likely infused himself with the full suite of DNA G'iah discovered two episodes ago. Given how pragmatic Gravik is, he likely has more abilities hidden away.
