!!Tropes in this episode:

* AmicableExes: ImpliedTrope. They don't interact with Jess, but Jess's ex-boyfriends Sam and Robbie apparently remained on good terms with the gang after three years, since they show up in all seriousness to Furguson's death anniversary. Sam even wears an animal print shirt, which Winston had tried (and failed) to get him to do [[Recap/NewGirlS5E20 in a previous episode]].
* BaitAndSwitch: The opening scene is shot like a mournful funeral, giving the audience the impression a major death has occurred. It turns out to be the death anniversary of Winston's cat.
* CuteKitten: Winston finds a small, adorable cat at the bar and adopts it.
* ItAlwaysRainsAtFunerals: Parodied. A GrayRainOfDepression falls over the opening scene, where mourners gather at a plot...that holds Winston's cat.
* RealAfterAll: Winston keeps hearing meowing, and everyone else thinks he's just processing his grief at Ferguson's passing (and later, losing his mind when he starts unscrewing the paneling). But then it turns out to be an actual cat under the bar couch cushions, which Winston promptly adopts.
* TitledAfterTheSong: The episode is titled after a lyric from Music/{{Enya}}'s "Only Time", which plays in the opening scene.
