* {{Bookends}}: This episode begins and opens with a scene of a Baxter family member in silhouette in a dark room, then revealed as they step into a beam of light--Blythe at the beginning, Roger at the end, excluding the continuation of Dr. Sunilenstein.

* TheBusCameBack: Roger's co-pilot Steph returns, having last appeared in "[[Recap/LittlestPetShop2012S2E14ToParisWithZoe To Paris with Zoe]]"
* CallBack: Pepper comments that Penny Ling is a master story teller, referring to her story from "[[Recap/LittlestPetShop2012S2E13SoInteresting So Interesting]]".

* ContinuityNod: The dolls of the little girl and the gray alien are two of the toys Blythe keeps on her bed. They can be seen most clearly in "[[Recap/LittlestPetShop2012S3E17RoomEnough Room Enough]]."
** Theodore Roosevelt was previously used as a joke in "[[Recap/LittlestPetShop2012S4E1TheTortoiseAndTheHeir The Tortoise and the Heir]]." In addition, Mount Rushmore was also previously used as a joke in "[[Recap/LittlestPetShop2012S3E16BackWindow Back Window]]."

** Two characters in love eating spaghetti in an ImagineSpot previously occurred in "[[Recap/LittlestPetShop2012S2E16SweetPepper Sweet Pepper]]."

** Smoke pours in to start "Dude Is a Vampire."
** Vlad's silhouette swoops by after the first chorus in "Dude Is a Vampire."

* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: Penny Ling stops Pepper's story to say that she agreed to guest star in stories, but that the dress is underwhelming.

* MusicalisInterruptus: Russell interrupts Vlad's verse in "Dude Is a Vampire."

* ShoutOut: This episode's title takes from ''Theater/LittleShopOfHorrors'', and possibly ''Manga/PetShopOfHorrors'' and ''WesternAnimation/TreehouseOfHorror'' too.

** Like in "Sweet Pepper," the romantic scene with Blythe and Vlad is based on the Bella Norte scene in ''WesternAnimation/LadyAndTheTramp."

* TakeThat: The story about the zombies seems to be one aimed at the rise in pet foods advertised as being all-meat, which is not necessarily the healthiest option for cats and dogs.
** Russell's story and the girls' reactions seems to be one for ''Literature/{{Twilight}}'' and the like. Reinforced with Blythe talking about being "Team Vlad."
** Roger claims that he deals with worse than monsters every day--he eats airplane food. It's also dissed in Pepper's story.

* TheVillainSucksSong: "Dude Is a Vampire."

* OffModel: Usually, the series makes sure that words are at least fairly illegible onscreen (a trait it shares with [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic its sister show]]). The theater where Pepper is to perform her comedy routine is a rare case of completely legible writing. May be intentional, however, as it only states "PEPPER CLARK," and no major dubs change her name.

* BrickJoke: In Pepper's scary story, Penny Ling tells a joke about how awful airplane food is. The next scene,

* UncannyValley: Penny Ling is animated in a slightly different way in Pepper's story, particularly her mouth movements. When she's crazy, Penny's head also does not move at all.
