[[folder:'''Long Flying Race Arc Summary''']]
Iruma, Asmodeus and Clara head off to the location of the Abnormal Class, which is said to be filled with students who all like to attract attention. They arrive at Tailgate, a school tower dedicated to first-year students, which the homeroom for the Abnormal Class is situated deep beneath it. Upon entering the room, Iruma is suddenly attacked by many weapons. He manages to dodge all of them given his evasive skill, which the attack turns out to just be a prank by the other Abnormal students betting if they can hit anyone that enters. A large Abnormal student, Sabnock Sabro, is shown to have taken all the hits from the prank's weapons as he finds dodging to be too cowardly. Sabnock then claims that that he will rise up to the Yod rank, and is the most suitable demon to take the position of Demon King that he will make even honor-student Iruma kneel.
\\\
Not knowing what the rankings are, Iruma is given a crash-course of the 10 ranks from lowest to highest. These being Rank 1 (Aleph), Rank 2 (Beth), Rank 3 (Gimel), Rank 4 (Daleth), Rank 5 (He), Rank 6 (Vav), Rank 7 (Zayin), Rank 8 (Cheth), Rank 9 (Teth), and Rank 10 (Yod). Iruma also learns that the position of Demon King, the ruler of the demon world, is currently vacant. Sabnock breaks one of the prank weapons with one hand to show that he will gladly challenge anyone for the seat, and questions if Iruma is really legit due to Iruma's lack of knowledge. Azu steps in to try to take Sabnock's focus away from Iruma, but Sabnock doesn't view Azu as a worthy rival anymore due to the latter becoming Iruma's servant. However, Azu doesn't see it that way claiming that Iruma sees him as a friend. Naberius Kalego then enters the room showing that he's been appointed to be the teacher of the Abnormal Class.
\\\
Kalego leads his Abnormal students outside to the school's Hill for the next test that will help establish their starting rank. He explains that the main goal of the test is to cross a valley to reach the finish line, which is a hill with a flag. The path to the finish line consists of two mountainous valleys, the Saezuri Valley and the Kanakiri Valley, but they also must watch out for the monster birds that live in the area. Kalego also points out that it's currently restricted to take the Kanakiri Valley path due to the monster bird leader not allowing anyone to enter at the time. Despite the warning, Sabnock plans to take said path anyway believing his life would be meaningless if he couldn't conquer the Kanakiri Valley. The event begins, which to Iruma's disbelief, he sees the Abnormal demons all spreading out their wings because said event is "Air Racing."
\\\
As the race begins, Iruma is left behind at the start due to the fact that humans can't fly. Kalego doesn't know that, but still chooses to kick Iruma off the starting cliff to get the boy going. Kalego then sits back, and uses a television provided by a support demon to watch the race through the Saezuri Valley unfold. Some of the Abnormal students show off some of their characteristics while racing, such as a lazy demon floating on a cloud, a demon playing a handheld video-game while flying, an owl-demon that focuses more on the female students than the current race, a female demon carrying a smaller female demon wearing glasses, a demon checking out the worth of an egg, an intelligent lion-head demon claiming that salt will go great with the egg, and a nice calamari-head demon offering snacks to the racers. The sight of the Abnormal students leaves Kalego annoyed that they're not taking the race seriously. Meanwhile, Azu is quickly flying his way through the Saezuri Valley, but to his shock, he sees that Clara has somehow mounted onto his back to go along for the ride. Azu then spots Sabnock in the distance going down the restricted Kanakiri Valley path.
\\\
As Sabnock flies through the Kanakiri Valley, he admits it's the harder path, but is glad to be making record time as the Kanakiri path is actually shorter than the Saezuri path. Sabnock finds the threat of the monster bird leader to be a joke, and believes that conquering the path that none of the other students chose will be the first step towards his goal to raise his rank and become Demon King. Kalego gets an update from the demon television of Sabnock going through the restricted Kanakiri path, which Kalego writes Sabnock off as a lost cause being a big idiot in his own tier that is as good as dead. Meanwhile, Iruma is seen being carried by the beak of a monster bird that caught the boy after Kalego shoved him off the starting cliff. Iruma is eventually dropped off at a monster bird nest where his arrival grabs the attention of a smaller monster bird. Said monster bird tries to go after Iruma, but it ends up stumbling due to having a leg injury.
\\\
In order to show that he's not a threat, Iruma gets an idea to cut his hand with a rock, and then cover it up with a cloth bandage. He points to the monster bird's leg showing that he wants to do something similar, which the monster bird agrees and stretches out its injured leg before Iruma. As Iruma is about to check the leg, a drop of his blood ends up dropping onto the wound and instantly heals the cut. Iruma is surprised to realize that humans are valuable to demons due to human blood being able to heal them. Iruma is glad to see that the monster bird can now stand up properly, which the bird begins to happily nuzzle the boy for healing it. The monster bird then allows Iruma to mount it to begin flying off elsewhere. In the meantime, it turns out that Sabnock has run into the Kanakiri Valley's monster bird leader and is struggling to fight and survive against it.
\\\
A brief flashback is seen of a young Sabnock reading about the Demon King's prophecy, which he's asked by a subordinate why he wants to become the Demon King. In the present, Sabnock is currently struggling in his fight with the Kanakiri monster bird leader, and has been forced to rely on his Bloodline Skill. Said skill is to make a weapon out of any metal he bites, which he wears a necklace of small pieces of metal to choose from. He makes a large axe out of one of the necklace metals he bites, and continues to try to fight the monster bird leader. While fighting, Sabnock thinks back to how he was told to become Demon King due to his lineage. In addition, his older brother left, but plans to return to test him when Sabnock becomes Demon King, and that his sick younger brother hopes that Sabnock one day becomes the Demon King. However, Sabnock in the end ignores all that fate, destiny and promise stuff, and claims that the only reason he wants to become Demon King is because it's cool. That he will achieve true coolness using his own will to reach the summit, and that he won't forgive any uncool demon who doesn't have the resolve to reach the top.
\\\
The monster bird leader is about to finish off Sabnock, but Iruma suddenly shows up and gets between the two of them. Iruma was flying by on the monster bird he helped, but dropped off after seeing the trouble Sabnock was in. The small monster bird then approaches the monster bird leader and begin talking. As it turns out, the small monster bird Iruma helped turns out to be the leader's daughter. Iruma points to the daughter bird's leg, which the leader sees that the leg injury is gone. Iruma then convinces Sabnock to drop his axe to show that they mean no harm, which Sabnock goes along with, and they both raise their hands to show surrender. The leader and daughter monster birds then thankfully bow towards Iruma, which shocks Sabnock enough to consider Iruma a special guy.
\\\
Some time after, all the demon students and Iruma are shown to have made it to the finish line. Kalego shows off a Ranking Owl demon that will judge one's ability and give them a rank when they put their hand in the Owl's chest pocket. The student will then pull out their ranking from the Owl's pocket in the form of a rank badge. For Iruma and Sabnock, they're put off to the side in a small jail, and are forced to be ranked last due to being the last two to arrive at the finish line. A brief flashback is shown that Iruma and Sabnock were disqualified from finishing the "Air Racing" event in time, but they eventually arrived being carried on the back of the grateful monster bird leader much to the shock and surprise of Kalego and the other Abnormal students. While waiting for their turn, Sabnock thanks Iruma for saving his life, apologizes for his earlier rudeness, and claims that the boy is amazing enough to be his rival.
\\\
Once it's Iruma's turn to be ranked, he walks up to the Ranker Owl while thinking about how amazing it is that Sabnock already has an end-goal set for himself, which leaves Iruma wondering what his goal is. Everyone is left wondering what crazy result is going to happen with Iruma this time, which Kalego doesn't think will happen since confirming one's rank is too pivotal a moment to cheat on. The surprise comes anyway as the Ranker Owl beings to freak out, and flies away after judging Iruma. The result is Kalego and the Abnormal students being confused by what they're seeing on Iruma's right hand. The story flashes back once more to a young Sabnock reading about the Demon King's prophecy, which he's told that the Demon King's position is currently empty, but that someone will eventually rise to power. All demon lineage will submit and be bound but blessed through a blood contract by one who swoops down from a foreign land. This person will give off a golden light shining from the Solomon's Ring on their right hand. In the present, Iruma is now seen wearing a mysterious ring on his right hand that was given to him from the Ranker Owl.
\\\
Prior to Iruma's ranking, some of the other Abnormal students managed to score higher than Rank 1 (Aleph). Asmodeus scores a high Rank 4 (Daleth) as his first ever demon ranking given that it's a natural result for someone who topped the entrance exams, and for scoring first place in the air race. The demon who was examining the egg earlier, Andro Jazz, achieved Rank 3 (Gimel). The small demon girl with glasses, Crocell Kerori, achieved Rank 2 (Beth). A demon named Purson Soi got a notable mention. And finally, Clara achieved Rank 3 (Gimel) much to Asmodeus' shock. This is due to her ability, good luck, and the fact that riding on Asmodeus scored her second place in the air race. As for Iruma, it's suddenly a mystery as to why he was given a mysterious ring rather than a rank badge from the Ranker Owl, and he's unable to take it off.
\\\
Kalego and the Abnormal students end up avoiding Iruma when it turns out that a shadowy creature is now hanging by Iruma's shoulder, and is shown to be connected to the ring. Said creature then gives off a loud screech that reaches so far that other than Iruma who's unaffected, it causes all the demons in the school to cover their ears in pain. Iruma and Clara try to calm the shadowy creature down with baby holding and singing tactics, which Sabnock steps foward to fight it. However, one slight touch from the ring shadow causes Sabnock to collapse to the ground. Asmodeus is the next to try, but ends up collapsing just like Sabnock, which Asmodeus explains that feels like his magical energy's been drained. Kalego decides to examine the ring, but as he stretches out his left hand towards it, he suddenly gets a vision of said hand being cut off as if the shadowy creature was giving Kalego a warning not to go near it. Feeling he has no other option, Kalego aims to destroy the ring, which would result in Iruma's right hand being destroyed. However, he's suddenly stopped by Sullivan before he could go through with the attack.
\\\
The ring shadow attempts to attack Sullivan next, but the principal casts a spell that affects the shadowy creature so much that it finally goes back into the ring. Sullivan explains that what Iruma has is the Ring of Gluttony, which is a demon tool that can contain the user's magic pool. The catch is that the tool currently doesn't possess much power, so it indiscriminately consumed the power of those around it. However, the shadow is now harmless after absorbing Sullivan's power. As for Iruma, he can no longer remove the Ring of Gluttony now that he's used it at least once. Overall, Sullivan is excited that because of being given a weird ring, Iruma will eventually show something rare as long as he's alive by next year. He then takes a picture with Iruma and the Abnormal Class. Shortly after, the first-year rank results are shown on the school bulletin board. In the end, Iruma is given just the lowest Rank 1 (Aleph). However, he's glad that he won't stand out being just a Aleph. Unbeknownst to Iruma, rumors are spreading amongst the demons about what Iruma accomplished during "Air Racing" event, such as supposedly making the valley leader his pet. In the end, he's standing out even more.

Iruma, Azz and Clara are put into the school's Abnormal Class of misfit demons. They arrive at a horribly rundown classroom where along with meeting the other misfit students, Iruma meets a large muscular demon named Sabro Sabnock who aims to be the Demon King. However, to become Demon King requires a demon to reach the level of Rank 10 (Yod). Soon enough, Kalego enters the room revealing himself to be the homeroom teacher for the Abnormal Class. He first tasks his misfit students to race each other in an "Air Racing" event, which will determine what their starting demon ranks will be. Kalego takes his class to a mountainous area that will be used for the race. However, this turns out to be an issue for Iruma given that he's a human who can't fly.

Sabro then thanks Iruma for saving him, and declares Iruma to be his rival. Eventually, it's Iruma's turn to be given his ranking badge, but the ranking owl reacts oddly and flies off. To the confusion of Kalego and the other students, the ranking owl left had behind an odd ring that's now on Iruma's right middle finger. However, Sabro had remembered of remembers the Demon King's Prophecy; the Prophecy that he read about when he was young. Meanwhile, Sabro flies his way through the shorter but restricted-to-enter mountainous path not caring about the danger of the powerful "Leader of the Valley" that dwells within it; believing that taking on such a danger is a step towards becoming the Demon King. As for Iruma, it turns out that he was grabbed by a random demon bird after getting kicked off the starting mountain.

During The bird that grabbed Iruma drops him off at a nest within the race, race's restricted area where a large demon bird moves toward him. However, Iruma notices that the nest bird's leg is injured. Iruma cuts himself, and then bandages his cut to show that he wishes to help the demon bird, which the bird understands. He then discovers that human blood has the ability to heal demon wounds as he drops his blood upon the injured bird's leg to heal it. Before the "Leader" moves to attack Iruma, the bird that he helped in the nest turns out to be the "Leader's" baby, which it proceeds to tell the "Leader" what Iruma did for it. Iruma convinces Sabro to surrender to show that they mean no harm, which in return, the "Leader of the Valley" thankfully bows down to Iruma for helping its baby.
