Adult Fear is no longer a trope.

* AdultFear: As if things weren't bad enough, this case adds yet another layer of fear when you discover SOMBRA has a deal with the yakuza, which apparently involves the yakuza training children with firearms so they can move to "the next phase."
-->Angela: I keep having these terrible nightmares where the girls end up with SOMBRA doing horrible things!

In Tokyo, Japan, Jack and the player are tasked with visiting an arcade where Ronin Ozawa, a supposed SOMBRA agent, was last seen along with a group of children, hoping to get some answers from the man himself. Before they can obtain them, though, they find the body of yakuza-leader Yuto Watanabe inside of the establishment, shot in the head and with a katana sticking out of his stomach.

* PunchClockVillain: Ronin claims to be this, as according to him he's just a honorable Yakuza who just happened to get involved with SOMBRA after Yuto, the Yakuza leader, made a deal with them. Of course, Jack finds nothing honorable about being involved with a criminal group training children with weapons.
* ResignationsNotAccepted: Shiro decided to leave his uncle's Yakuza group and start a new life with Emily. Yuto's response? Gun down the wedding and kill everyone, including Shiro.

!!Tropes:
*ThousandOrigamiCranes: The killer stuffed an origami inside of the victim's pocket with the message "This is #1000. Now you are dead.", leading to Angela tell you about the legend.
-->Jack: A thousand origami cranes?! I guess that means the killer can hold a grudge...
*AdultFear: As if things weren't bad enough, this case adds yet another layer of fear when you discover SOMBRA has a deal with the Yakuza, which apparently involves the Yakuza training them with firearms so they can move to "the next phase."

-->Emily: He tried to commit seppuku, but there was no way I was letting him do it! He needed to die by MY hands!
*BigWhat: Jack in the following exchange:
-->Carmen: Hey, Archer. Aren't you supposed to be watching Sanjay?
-->Jack: Yeah, Carmen... why do you ask?
-->Carmen: Because he's gone!
-->Jack: What?!
*BoomHeadshot: How the victim was killed.
*ButForMeItWasTuesday: Judging by how Yuto didn't recognize Emily while she was teaching him English, it's clear that the memories of him shooting up her wedding were just another regular day for him.
*CallBack: Ronin Ozawa, Sanjay Korrapati, and Tsukada Chieko reappear as suspects.

*EvilUncle: Yuto killed his own nephew Shiro after he left the Yakuza group.
*Fingore: Sanjay shows you how he sliced off his own finger to demonstrate to the Yakuza that he wasn't weak.
*FlatWhat: Jack when Dupont gives you another of his long cultural explanations.
-->Dupont: Did you know that Japanese is an agglutinative, mora-timed language with a pure vowel system and a lexically significant pitch-accent?
-->Jack: Uhm... what?
*GratuitousJapanese: Surprisingly, it isn't the suspects who say it, but you teammates whenever they provide you with analyses.
-->Lars: Saikin dou, <Player's Name>!
-->Jack: Sake-do to you too, bro!
-->Lars: I didn't say sake, dude! I said saikin dou, it's "What's up?" in Japanese!
*PunchClockVillain: Ronin claims to be this, as according to him he's just a honorable Yakuza who just happened to get involved with SOMBRA after Yuto, the Yakuza leader, made a deal with them. Of course, Jack finds nothing honorable about being involved with a criminal group training children with weapons.

*ShoutOut:
** Emily Wallace resembles Beatrix Kiddo, and her backstory and motivations for killing Yuto are almost the same as hers.
** Sanjay's uniform features VideoGame/PacMan.
** In the Game Center scene, there is a smiling mushroom, pixel art of a Space Invader, a stuffed monkey resembling Diddy Kong, some "Ctiri" machines, trading cards resembling Franchise/YuGiOh and a "BBR" game.
** In the Arcade Machines scene, there is the same "BBR" game, as well as the phrase "1UP", pixel art of a Space Invader and a drawing of a fox resembling Tails.
** In the Tokyo Street scene, there is an ad reading "Just do it".
** In the Sidewalk scene, there is a moon stick.

-->Elliot: Hey, guys. I could hear you arguing all the way down the hall... it's a miracle <Player's Name> continues to work with you two!
*TroubledTeen:
**Sanjay drank a whole bottle of sake by himself, sliced off his finger, and even was in contact with a Yakuza group just for the sake of not appearing weak, then escaped from the Bureau's headquarters after being put into custody for his troubles.
**There's also Chieko, who decided to brandish a gun in an attempt to look for her brother then helped Sanjay escape from Bureau custody, claiming that she needed to protect him from you.
*VideoArcade: Where the victim was killed.
*VillainTeamUp: Ronin confirms that Yuto and his Yakuza group made a business deal with SOMBRA involving training children for "the next phase", pretty much confirming that Ronin, while not a direct member of SOMBRA, is still aligned with them in some way.
*VlogSeries: Sakura has one, and thanks to one of her videos you get to see Ronin giving a gun to Sanjay "for his own protection."
*WholePlotReference: Emily's backstory and motivations for killing Yuto are just a watered-down and compacted version of Film/KillBill: an English-speaking woman is attacked by a group of criminals in the middle of her wedding, her fiancé (who tried to left the criminal group) is killed and she's left in a hospital until she recovers, then goes to Japan and kills the leader of said criminal group while wearing yellow.
*WidowedAtTheWedding: Emily's fiancé was killed by his own uncle during her own wedding, leaving her on a quest for revenge once she recovered from her injuries.
*IWillFindYou: Chieko is still going with her quest for finding her brother Hiroshi, even infiltrating a Yakuza group as she discovered children recruited by SOMBRA were being sent there.
*Yakuza: The victim was the leader of the Watanabe-gumi yakuza group, and Ronin is revealed to be part of them too.
*YoungGun:
**Elliot finds a photo of Chieko brandishing a gun just outside of the victim's headquarters, where she explains to you she's using it for protection while looking for her brother.
**In one of Sakura's video vlogs, you see Ronin giving Sanjay a gun "to protect himself" after encouraging him to be strong and make people pay if they mistreat him.
**In a more humorous example, June finds a grenade during a visit to Jonah's lab, leading to him freaking out and begging her to not throw it.
