Eventually, the announcement from Ego is made that the 3 days of strength training is over. Regrouping in the locker room, Team Z are seen given new ranks, such as Isagi having increased 25 ranks up to 274th. However, it turns out that everyone just went up 25 ranks automatically since 25 players were eliminated from Blue Lock's 25 teams through their opening Tag games. Ego then explains how there's 5 strata groups of teams that will be playing games between each another (B-F, G-K, L-P, Q-U, and V-Z). Thus, he warns Isagi's Team Z that they're not just the worst of the V-Z strata, but are the worst team in Blue Lock overall. Ego then announces that it's time to begin Blue Lock's First Selection.

When Team Z's not in the strength room, they're eating meals in the Blue Lock cafeteria, which the players are given better food depending on their current rank. Isagi (Rank 299) and Igarashi (Rank 300) only get Natto and Picked Daikon respectively since they're the lowest two players. Meanwhile, Gagamaru (Rank 296) gets to eat Gyoza, but is seen eating it with his hands, which shows his wild animal persona. One of Gagamaru's Gyoza ends up getting stolen away by Naruhaya (Rank 297), who appears to have a playful trickster persona.

Team Z is tasked to spend the next 3 days training up in Blue Lock's gym. As Isagi and company train, the well-built Raichi (Rank 294) turns out to be a huge stamina freak, but also appears to be a loud-mouth hot-head. In addition, Kuon (Rank 293) turns out to be a high jumper due to his long legs, which is a sign that he will be good for headers, but he also appears to be a nice enough guy that he provides Isagi with a bottle of water.

3 days into the Blue Lock training program, Ego's been having his strikers run nothing but "athletic tests." Isagi and his teammates of Team Z are seen on treadmills exhausting themselves during a Running Test, which their teammate, Jingo Raichi (Rank 294), taunts them for their poor endurance compared to him. The next test is the Jumping Test, which Isagi's teammate, Wataru Kuon (Rank 293), is kind enough to give the exhausted Isagi a water bottle. The two of them perform their jumps for the test, which Isagi's surprised to see that Kuon can jump higher due to his longer legs.

Following the "athletic tests," Team Z next takes part in Meal Time at the Blue Lock cafeteria along with the other teams in their group. How great the food each striker gets depends on their current ranking, which Isagi ends up with just a small bowl of natto due to being the second lowest player of his team. Igarashi only gets pickled radish due to being the lowest rank of the team while Gin Gagamaru (Rank 296) gets a plate of gyoza, which he eats with his hands. Their Team Z teammate, Asahi Naruhaya (Rank 297), goes and steals a gyoza from Gagamaru, and then runs off. At the end of the day at Blue Lock is Sleep Time, which the members of Team Z all sleep on the floor in their Team Z room. Isagi's unable to sleep due to what he's experienced at Blue Lock so far making him feel nervous, which he exits the room and decides to head off to train.

In the hallway, Isagi's suddenly hit in the head by a soccer ball in the hallway as it turns out that Bachira couldn't sleep either and is just sitting around. Bachira asks if he can join in on Isagi's solo training, which Isagi agrees. Shortly after, Isagi and Bachira are seen at Team Z's indoor training field getting ready to practice against each other 1-on-1. Before starting, Isagi asks Bachira why the latter so badly wanted to hit Kira during the Tag Entrance Game. Starting his 1-on-1 dribble against Isagi, Bachira answers that it's because he has a "monster" within him, which confuses Isagi. Bachira explains it further that the monster is only there when he's playing football, and that it tells him to do stuff, like to steal the ball, or dance. As Isagi tries to block Bachira's dribbling, Bachira states that it was the monster inside him that told him to pass it to Isagi during the Tag game, and that the monster told him that Isagi is someone that has a monster within him as well.

Isagi remains confused, which Bachira states that it's an instinct he has. He asks if Isagi can also hear a monster's voice, but Isagi remains confused. However, Isagi catches on that the "him" that kicked the ball to eliminate Kira was something he never knew he had, which Isagi becomes interested in wanting to know more about the monster that he may have within himself. Bachira further explains that all the famous strikers all have monsters in their hearts, which he believes is proof as to how great they are. He also states that it's for this reason that he's glad to have come to Blue Lock as it resulted in him meeting Isagi, which impacts the latter. Bachira then asks if Isagi's ready to practice some more, which Isagi is ready to go again due to Bachira being someone that fires him up. The two of them practice until an announcement is made that the new rankings will be provided now that their 3 days of training is complete. Upon returning to their Team Z room, Igarashi gets excited seeing that he's gone up to Rank 275, which Isagi notices that he, himself, has gone up to Rank 274.

Ego then appears on their room's monitor, which he gets to explaining more about how his Blue Lock program works. He explains to his strikers how his facility is separated into 5 blocks, which consists of 25 teams from B to Z, and are split into groups of 5 with 5 teams per compound living together. These compounds consist of teams B to F, G to K, L to P, Q to U, and V to Z. In addition, there's only 275 players left due to the 25 that were eliminated in the Tag game, which leaves Igarashi distraught having realized that he didn't actually go up in rank. Ego also points out that those on Team B are the highest rank, and that the ranks decrease from there. Thus, making it clear that the 5th block, and Team Z especially, are the worst players of Blue Lock. The players of Team Z looks around at their fellow teammates having realized that they've been named the worst. Ego then assures them that football is King, which if they want to live the high life, then all that they need to do is start winning. Thus, Ego announces that the First Selection of Blue Lock will now begin.
