** In a VerySpecialEpisode dealing with a fire in the school, Mr. Morris left for New Mexico after recovering from injuries sustained in said fire. He has since appeared in ''Postcards From Buster''. Strangely, he---[[SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute or someone who looks like him]]---has made background appearences from time to time at Lakewood Elementary. However, the real Mr. Morris seems to be about to [[LongBusTrip finally make a return]].

* Jeff in ''WesternAnimation/AmericanDad'' was accidentally kidnapped by aliens when he got shoved into their ship's tractor beam that was meant for Roger. He disappeared for the next several episodes until he was rescued from Roger's home planet in the 150th episode, "Lost in Space."

** More permanently done with A.M.A.Z.O, who's still out on the edge of the universe trying to figure out how to beat Solomon Grundy. WordOfGod was he would return in the last episode as a BrickJoke, but they forgot about him.
** Aquaman was removed the show following the first season of Unlimited without explanation. WordOfGod would later confirm that he was a victim of DC's "[[ExiledFromContinuity Character Embargo]]". A policy DC and Warner Bros had at the time stating that a character couldn't appear in one show is said character already had a prominent role in another. This policy is also known at the "Bat Embargo" because it infamously prevented Batman characters from appearing in Justice League Unlimited because of the airing of ''WesternAnimation/TheBatman''. In the case of Aquaman, he was removed from JLU because DC and Warner were making a Live-Action tv series based on Aquaman at the time that unfortunately never progressed beyond the unaired pilot.
** Supergirl was also put on a bus in the third season of Unlimited in the infamous episode "Far From Home". The reasons why she was removed from the show have never been revealed.

* The ''WesternAnimation/RegularShow'' episode "The Real Thomas" ends with Thomas being phased out of the show

* Timmy Turner's fairy dog Sparky has suffered this fate in ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents''. After having proven largely unpopular with fans since his introduction at the start of Season 9 owing to his obnoxious personality, Sparky has thus far been entirely absent in Season 10 without any given explanation onscreen. WordOfGod confirms that Nickelodeon elected to drop Sparky from the main cast after he failed to win over audiences, meaning that the bus is not likely to return to Dimmsdale with its four-legged passenger anytime soon.

* Triana Orpheus from ''WesternAnimation/TheVentureBrothers'' left the Venture Compound in order to study magic with her mother.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheSmurfs'':

* In the fifth season of ''WesternAnimation/{{Kaeloo}}'', Eugly is given this treatment, with the in-universe treatment being that she got accepted into an art school outside Smileyland.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheSmurfs'': Most of the other Smurfs that didn't get lost in time in Season 9's first three episodes, as there was no return home episode that was even produced or aired.
