** Hiro manages to trick Evulz by calling out his {{hypocri|te}}sy of allegedly bringing an army even though it was supposed to be a one-on-one battle. Confused, Evulz states that he ''clearly'' didn't bring an army, but Hiro tells him [[LookBehindYou to turn around and see the army]]. Evulz obliges, wondering what army Hiro's talking about, [[CombatPragmatist and gets stabbed]] InTheBack multiple times.

'''Basic Trope''': A person tells another person from an opposing side to meet up at a location alone, with a clear implication that it would have an ambush.
* '''Straight''': Emperor Evulz tells Hiro to meet him at Evul Island and tells Hiro not to bring anyone with him, in order to [[LuredIntoATrap lure him into an ambush]]. Hiro obliges him, only for Evulz to reveal that he has brought his own army to take down Hiro.
* '''Exaggerated''': Emperor Evulz tells Hiro to meet him at Evul Island, and Evulz himself is standing on the island alone to pretend he hasn't set up an ambush, only to reveal that he has set up a KillSat at the outer space to shoot down Hiro.
* '''Justified''': Emperor Evulz believes that Hiro is too innocent to suspect anyone.
* '''Inverted''': Emperor Evulz tells Hiro to bring as many people as he can, and gloats that he will come alone and [[OneManArmy wipe out all of them on his own]].
* '''Subverted''':
** It turns out Evulz does fulfill his promise: both Hiro and Evulz are alone.
** It turns out Evulz fulfills his promise and meets Hiro alone, however, Hiro doesn't, as he has [[CombatPragmatist brought his entire team]] to take down Evulz. Needless to say, it ends with a CurbStompBattle.
** Both side fully expect their opponents will [[RashEquilibrium break their promise and bring their own men]].
* '''Double Subverted''':
** However, their men break the promise without their leaders' acknowledgement.
** It turns out to be a fatal mistake, as Evulz plans to [[TakingYouWithMe take every last one of Hiro's men with him]]. As Evulz detonates the bombs planted on the island, he mocks Hiros' men for breaking their promise.
** And then Hiro and Evulz order their men to back off so they can initiate an honorable duel.
* '''Zig Zagged''': ???
* '''Parodied''': Hiro fulfills the promise to come alone, with a bit of a twist: [[LoopholeAbuse Since his pet dog doesn't count as a "person"...]]
* '''Averted''': Evulz doesn't invite Hiro to a meeting, or at least doesn't insist that the latter to come alone.
* '''Lampshaded''': Hiro, having brought his entire army to the meeting, mocks Evulz for trusting his enemy in the first place.
--> "What? Did you literally expect me to come alone?"
* '''Invoked''': Hiro outright asks Evulz whether he should come alone.
* '''Exploited''':
** Evulz fully expects Hiro to bring his allies, as his real motive is to [[BatmanGambit sabotage Hiro's home when everyone's gone]].
** Hiro fully expects Evulz would bring his men, so he [[TakingYouWithMe straps a bomb onto himself to take down every last one of them]].
** Alternatively, Hiro has his own ThanatosGambit in mind.
* '''Defied''':
** When Evulz attempts to contact Hiro, Hiro outright [[CombatPragmatist shoots Evulz before he can initiate the meeting]].
