How was SEKAI born? That's right, from Memes.

----
!!Please add entries in the following format:
* The meme. [=[[=]labelnote: Explanation[=]]=]The explanation behind the meme, if necessary.[=[[/=]labelnote[=]]=] Like this.
** Further mutations and successor memes, if any.
----

* MERUTO TOKETE SHIMAISOU The chorus for Melt, as it was the most played song in Multi-Lives during the first event, due to it giving the most event points.
** No more Melt please/Stop picking Melt Related to the meme above, since many players kept picking Melt in Multi-Live for optimal event grinding, resulting in other players getting sick of the song. Also known as メルト地獄 or Melt Hell in Japanese.
* Mizuki is Mizuki Referencing the 'Hideyoshi is Hideyoshi' meme from Baka To Test, minor arguments and debates about Mizuki's gender and identification erupted from the release of their profile and after the release of the game, prompting this response from some western players.
* Ena is blind. This meme spawns from the fact that in many conversation areas, Ena will ask "Where did Akito go?" while Akito is either right behind her, or standing in front of her.
* Golden Orb. Many posts and much fanart about the gacha involve the golden orb as the game is notorious for giving many players only one ★3 in its 10 rolls, also known as a "minroll".
* Panels from the official Yonkoma are frequently recycled as exploitable reaction meme templates by changing the text.
* Sbibo A misspelling of Shiho's name accidentally made by a moderator on the unofficial Colorful Stage discord that caught on. Generally represented by a poorly drawn Shiho
* Referring to Vivid BAD SQUAD as Vivid GAY SQUAD in the west is a fairly common occurrence in the west due to the amount of ShipTease between the two same-sex pairs within the unit.
* Balance / Baransu has become a fairly common thing to say on Colorful Stage's unofficial international Discord, used sarcastically to describe how unbalanced certain aspects of the game and things officially related to it are such as the game's attribute distribution across events, card rarity distribution, and even character art on the official Twitter.
* Project Sekai: Colorful Stage! ft. MEIKO and/or Megurine Luka (or MEIKO and/or Megurine Luka: Colorful Stage! for Westerners A joke in the fandom that memes MEIKO and Luka seemingly became more prominent than Miku in-game by the time the game's first year finished. Kagamine Rin has also been added to this trend post the announcement that she would not only be the face of the Evillious collaboration but also that two of the three songs being added for the collaboration would feature her.
** Saying that someone at Colorful Palette must be a MEIKO-Oshi (fan) has become rather common as well, at least in the Japanese side of the fandom, due to MEIKO being the most prominent Virtual Singer in the game during the first year after Miku (not including song wise).
* All songs are designed to be Full Combo'd with two fingers.A Q&A segment at the 1st Anniversary live event had WordOfGod revealing that all charts are explicitly playtested by the developers to be doable with just two fingers, an extremely absurd feat considering the ridiculous difficulty of the game's hardest charts and the fact that even the most talented players still use their entire hands. This phrase is often parroted by the fanbase whenever SEGA and Colorful Palette tease a new Lv. 36 or otherwise "max difficulty" song. Of course, this is even though "playtesting" can include slowing down the charts' playback speeds to make the notes easier to hit; after all, all that's needed to full combo the songs from there is to just move the fingers faster. This statement started to be used again in 2023, when the game started adding Lvl. 37 charts that were specifically designed to be played with more than two fingers
* Making Fancams of the cast during Virtual Live performances. A meme borrowed from "stan" twitter in which players screen-record Virtual Live performances, usually cropping down the video to feature one character, and posting it to [=YouTube=] or Twitter.
** Humorously, this meme became so popular that Colorful Palette announced that an official "Camera Focus" feature would be added to the game for Virtual Lives and Connect Lives, which would no doubt make making Fancams easier for players.
* Some characters not having mouths. The official yonkoma art style has a tendency to not draw mouths on some of the more stoic characters such as Kanade and Toya which the fandom ran with.
* "Come here, Mafuyu-chan" An infamous line from an Akito/Mafuyu fanfiction uploaded to Archive of Our Own and later Twitter, which quickly gained notoriety with the fanbase for how hilariously out-of-character they are.
* "Niigofication" A phrase used to describe when usually "cheerful" characters are given illustrations where they look uncharacteristically depressed or bitter, fitting the vibe Nightcord at 25:00 illustrations tend to have. Some examples include Saki's card from No Seek, No Find (And all the cards from that set really, except Len's), all of the 2nd Anniversary illustrations, which were specifically themed after "darkness" to contrast the bright and cheerful 1st-anniversary cards, and the cards from A Sorrowful Farewell at the Curtain Call
* "ok ima fight the music" "damn the music got hands"A variant of the "ok ima fight these thoughts" meme featuring a 3D-rendered boxer, but modified to refer to "Don't Fight The Music" on Master, infamous for being one of the hardest songs in the game.
* "This is where you are Caucasian, destination"Mondegreen Purportedly misheard lyrics from the [=RADder=]'s famous song that kickstarted An and Akito's dream to surpass RAD WEEKEND, first heard in the "Light Up the Fire" event in June 2023. The game hypes it up for pretty much the entire VBS storyline and the ultimate reveal can best be described as completely nonsensical English phrases set to a painfully generic trap beat that is unfavorably likened to a ripoff of Music/ImagineDragons, made even more hilarious by the fact that in the context of the VBS story it's treated as basically the greatest song ever made. It was considered so bad that fans started making numerous jokes about it ruining everything in Colorful Stage!, such as killing Kanade's mom or making Minori give up her idol dreams.
* "HELLO! I'M EMU OTORI! EMU IS MEANING SMILE!"Emu introducing herself in English which became very popular on Website/TikTok, with videos often depicting Emu in dangerous situations while she speaks.
* Ichika's Birthday AnnouncementThe game developer's switching out An's name with Ichika's for the latter's birthday announcement, without taking into account that "an" is a very common combination of letters and word in itself, leading to every instance of the letters A and N next to each other being replaced with Ichika's name.
* Akito's reaction to the SEKAI from the Vivid BAD SQUAD main story animation started being used as a reaction image within the EN fandom within minutes of the video being released.
* Shizuku's Graduation From My Worthless Self untrained card was subject to multiple edits from fans worldwide due to many people noticing its resemblance to the distracted boyfriend meme.
* My reaction to that informationAn incredibly popular meme in the EN fandom, consisting of a low-resolution image of Akito's Well-known Big Shot 1* card with the caption "My reaction to that information". The image can quite often be found posted by fans in the comments section of the English Twitter account, especially if the original post is about Akito.
