* AssholeVictim: Multiple ones, though the Character page lists the bigger ones. There is also [[spoiler: Ukai]] during the Hail Of Corn arc. [[spoiler: Ukai]] repeatedly sees himself as a [[TheRival rival to Ango]] and plans to ''kill'' him because Ango grasps the concept of the Final Test's "Survival of the Fittest" idea first and did not share supplies. It's difficult to not cheer when [[spoiler: Ukai not only gets an eye slashed out by a bear, but also him freezing to death eventually. After all, this was after he had manipulated Shigeru into calling Ango out, shoved Ango into a hole in hopes of him dying down there and shooting Shigeru, when he wanted to help Ango]].

* BrokenAce: Again, Ango.

* DeadGuyJunior: Takahiro names two puppies after [[spoiler: his dead teammates Mitsuru and Fubuki.]]
* DeathByDisfigurement: [[spoiler: Ukai, who loses an eye before dying. The teachers' behavior makes it pretty clear that any Summer A candidate who got such a severe injury was going to die, and had no chance of being included in the team.]]
** [[spoiler: Mutsuki from Team Winter]] commits suicide after being mauled by a saber-tooth tiger and having his arm ripped off and face disfigured on one side.

* DwindlingParty: Poor Team Winter.

* FriendlessBackground: Before she came to the future, Natsu's closest emotional support was her ''kitten''.
** Matsuri never had any friends, either, since nobody took her seriously.

* FriendToAllLivingThings: Genguro is very good with animals and is top in the animal class.
** [[spoiler: Deconstructed like a lot of [[SlidingScaleOfIdealismVersusCynicism other happy tropes]] when the [[TearJerker Final Test]] comes along. Now he doesn't think that he deserves to be such a thing.]]
* GeniusDitz: Shigeru is mostly seen as TheDitz in general, but Ango knows that Shigeru is better and can be quite competent when he decides to get serious. He even says that there is nothing that can beat Shigeru's memory. After all, Shigeru decided that, instead of flipping through a dictionary when he couldn't remember a word, he should just [[PhotographicMemory learn the entire dictionary by heart]].

* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:Yanagi]] burns himself alive to save the rest of his team.

* SeriouslyScruffy: Eventually all the characters, since personal grooming is not one of their priorities, keeping clothes fresh while surviving and living in the wild is difficult and even their hair grows over time, though some do get it cut after a while. The most notably scruffy examples would be Aramaki with RapunzelHair and a long beard and Tsunomata, who gets PutOnABus for some time and when we see him again, he has long stubbles in his face.

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Over the course of the series, their actions have horrible consequences.
** Team Summer B, Ango and Ryo head into the Fuji ship, thinking it's another supply shelter as the other Fujis. Their presence turns on the ship's electricity again. As well as the countdown to [[KillEmAll launch missiles all over Japan]] [[NukeEm including a nuclear warhead]]. [[spoiler: They fortunately manage to get out and avoid the launch with the iron-eating bacteria resuming to eat up the ship.]]
** Hana, Fujiko and Chisa encounter and open an old ruin and realize it's a mushroom farm. Opening it resulted in the spores to be set free upon the forest they were inhabiting, destroying the entire eco-system that had been going on for who-knows-how-long, with shiitake now sprouting out of the ground, trees ''and animals''. [[spoiler: It also befalls several of Aramaki's dogs when they arrive, resulting in them sacrificing themselves.]]
** The scientists in the Sado shelter. They are investigating a new type of ant that seems to thrive on the bars that the scientists eat. Eventually, the ants break out... and seem to have grown very large by now.

* EnsembleCast: Five Teams, eight people, at least a 40-characters cast in the beginning. Begins to dwinled as the series proceeds, but nonetheless still keeps its focus on several people.

* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: Team Summer B. Chosen deliberately in case the attractive, intelligent, and socially well-adjusted members of the other teams didn't have the strength to survive.

Added DiffLines:

* RotatingProtagonist: The Teams tend to be the focus entirely, but certain arcs do focus more on certain characters.
** ''Hail Of Corn'' revolves around Team Summer A, but there's a definite emphasis on Ango during the arc.
** The current ''Mountain/Ocean'' arc retotates repeatedly to each character, as they proceed to be separated and reunited.

* LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters: With five Teams of eight members, you already have 40 characters. Add the important characters who made the 7 Seeds Project a reality, as well as characters that pop up later and are revealed to be important, you easily double that number. And just mentioning the important ''candidates'' for Team Summer A, you can reach 100 characters. [[AnyoneCanDie Even if some of the Team members die]].

* SpotlightStealingSquad: Can be attributed to each Team at times, switching the focus around a lot. Hana seems to be a singular character example, with one mini-arc revolving solely on a disease she catches and needs to find a cure for, as well as her [[spoiler: supposed death]] before another, larger arc begins with her and follows her for a long while, before other characters join in and get some of the spotlight shone upon them.

''7 Seeds'' is thought-provoking manga written by Yumi Tamura, better known for writing ''{{Basara}}''. It's mostly adventure, science fiction, and horror, but it has touches of romance. The story is also notable for its large cast of varied characters. There is no single main character, or even main team: instead, the story regularly switches between teams, usually with one viewpoint character per team.

** The next chapter, ''Applause'', does it the other way around. It features Hana, happily frolicking with piglets, being taken care of and "adopted" by their mother, [[ToiletHumor shitting into the ocean and laughing when little insects begin to eat it]] and Hana looking at the sun and thinking how she has decided to live in this world... and then we suddenly cut ''back'' to the intense atmosphere of the group still escaping the Fuji Ship.
