* BunnyEarsLawyer: Io Flemming. He's loud, obnoxious, and blares jazz in the hanger. But he's also by a significant margin the most skilled pilot on the Feddies' side so all that gets ignored. His superiors are almost sad that they have to give him the Gundam because he's so obnoxious, but his skills make him the only candidate.
* TheChainsOfCommanding: Claudia is woefully unprepared to be a commanding officer, and her duties regularly leave her a broken, emotional wreck as a result. [[spoiler:Io finds out later that she's taken on a drug addiction to cope with her guilt over sending soldiers out to die in battle.]]

* ElectraComplex: Karla was inspired to become a cyberneticist after her father lost his arm and has a reputation for inappropriate relationships with her patients. Notably, her and Daryl's RelationshipUpgrade happens after he loses an arm himself.

* NeverASelfMadeWoman: According to her XO, Claudia is only in commander because of her family. Given the fact the XO is a complete {{Jerkass}}, this may or may not be true.

* NoRespectGuy: Captain Claudia, according to her XO. If a mission fails, it's all her fault for being incompetent. If a mission succeeds, it's clearly a success in ''spite'' of her, not because of her.

* SurprisinglyEliteCannonFodder: Vice Captain Graham and his ilk repeatedly send Io Fleming into dangerous mission in hopes that he will be this for the rest of Moore Brotherhood, nevermind Claudia's consent. Partly because they blame the 'incompetent elites' for the occupation of Site 4 by Zeon forces. [[spoiler: Io Fleming didn't die as they expect. In the end, it's the other way around...]]

* ShoutOut: Blonde ace pilot hero with a girlfriend named Claudia and a best friend with blue hair and glasses? This is as dark a deconstruction of ''SuperDimensionFortressMacross'' as it is ''MobileSuitGundam''.
