* AnimalsLackAttributes: Exaggerated for the most part, but occasionally downplayed. All of the animals that appear in the manga are drawn with no genitalia (probably for the best). However, there are exceptions, such as Aries, having visible nipples. There are also some cases in which a dog humps another dog or urinates, but we don't see anything.

* TroublesomePet: While the bulk of the series deal with how dogs can misbehave if their owners don't train/coach them properly, Lupin is by far the most prone to get into trouble. Basically a canine version of an IdiotHero and CasanovaWannabe, Lupin frequently embarrasses Suguri by trying to go after female dogs even outside mating season, steal Suguri's underwear, snatch treats from other dogs, and at one point broke a dog treat dispenser because he wants to get all the food inside.

* SenpaiKohai: When Ryusuke is hired, Suguri gets incredibly excited about finally being someone's senior.

* NotGoodWithPeople: Minoru from the Nakatani Heartland is extremely skilled at handling dogs, but doesn't deal well with people and is somewhat of a recluse.

* TriangRelations: Two different instances of Type 5 - Teppei isn't romantically interested in anyone, Suguri is interested in Teppei, and both [[CannotSpitItOut Kim]] and [[StalkerWithACrush Fujita]] are interested in Suguri (obviously, the former is presented much more positively than the latter).

* SempaiKohai: When Ryusuke is hired, Suguri gets incredibly excited about finally being someone's senior.

* BastardBoyfriend: Ryu, Momoko's boyfriend, constantly leeches her money while he himself goofs off and cheats with other girls. Momoko eventually breaks up with him.

* AloofOlderBrother: Inverted. Kentaro's younger ''sister'' is a reserved honors student, while Kentaro himself is a laidback buffoon.

Should not be confused with Manga/InuYasha.

** Once, Teppei walked in on Momoko while she's changing clothes, and was flustered about it. Suguri assumed that he has a crush on her, especially since he doesn't react when he walks in on Suguri doing the same thing.
** Another time, Teppei visited Yamarin's home to demonstrate why she should not be getting another puppy. Since Yamarin is a celebrity, a paparazzi took their pictures and published a scandal about their "romance".

** To make things more confusing, in volume 16, Chizuru is seen lifting up Melon with his penis exposed ([[GagCensor censored with a circle of his face with the text reading "private"]]), even though he was never drawn with a penis in the first place.
