* One story in ''TheInexplicableAdventuresOfBob'' has [[CardCarryingVillain Fructose Riboflavin,]] the [[SpacePirates Pirates of Ipecac,]] and [[WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds Galatea]] all teaming up, although the pirates are there against their will, and it's arguable that Galatea [[UnwittingPawn doesn't really understand what's going on.]]
* The Hat and Robo-Cube in ''StickmanAndCube'', although this is more of a [[PuppeteerParasite hostile takeover]] on The Hat's part.

* In ''{{Sonichu}}'' a number of villains from the earlier issues (including Dr. Eggman and [[{{Pokemon}} Giovanni]]) team up to take over [=CWCVille=] when Chris was away.
* Ian and Anita in the grand finale of ''ErrantStory''.

* While the original version of ''VideoGame/TalesOfVesperia'' has them fight you seperately, the PS3 version gets [[VideoGame/TalesOfPhantasia Dhaos]], [[VideoGame/TalesOfEternia Shizel]], [[VideoGame/TalesOfDestiny Barbatos Goetia]]... and [[VideoGame/TalesOfSymphonia Kratos]] [[AntiHero Aurion]] together for an epic four vs. four battle in the Merciless rank of the team arena.

* In ''Fanfic/ShadowsOfGiants'', King Ghidorah gathers Gigan, Monster X, Destoroyah, Spacegodzilla, and Hedorah and convinces them to team up and get revenge against Godzilla.

* Wrestling/LayCool teamed up with Wrestling/BethPhoenix to get rid WWE of Wrestling/MickieJames. However, Laycool then turned on Phoenix when recruited by Wrestling/VickieGuerrero, who happened to be dating Wrestling/DolphZiggler, creating a pseudo stable on Smackdown with Ziggler as TheOneGuy. The group even went on to have a match at Wrestlemania against the equally hodgepodge paring of Wrestling/TrishStratus, Wrestling/JohnMorrison and someone for Jersey Shore. [[SubvertedTrope They rejected]] Wrestling/AliciaFox though, when she tried to join them in their efforts against Melina.

* The very unlikely pairing of [[JohnNord The Berserker]] and Papa Shango against the equally unlikely pairing of Wrestling/UltimateWarrior and Wrestling/TheUndertaker.

* ''Series/{{Supernatural}}'': Crowley manages to temporarily team up with [[ArchangelRaphael Raphael]] in a season finale after [[spoiler:his previous deal with Castiel fell apart]], but that lasted all of ten minutes before [[spoiler:Cas OutGambitted them both, killed Raph, and sent Crowley on the run]]. He later tries to pull one with the Boss Leviathan (he even bakes [[ToServeMan gluten-free baby uvula muffins]] for the occasion!), but gets shot down.

!Examples:

* Wrestling/MollyHolly tried this with her rival [[Wrestling/LisaMarieVaron Victoria]], after Victoria made it to WWE's active roster to get rid of their mutual enemy, Trish Stratus. It didn't workout but she then forced one with Wrestling/GailKim by threatening to beat Gail up until she did what she said (and what Molly said, was, of course, get rid of Trish Stratus). Victoria would also intimidate Wrestling/{{Melina}} into joining her against Mickie James, but then turn on Melina for Wrestling/NataylaNeidhart.

* There have been '''MANY''' stables in wrestling history that were centered around a manager who was supposedly looking out for the financial interests of his wrestlers. While this was usually {{Kayfabe}}, "Precious" Paul Ellering, who assembled the original Legion of Doom in Georgia in the 1980s, which featured the TagTeam Wrestling/TheRoadWarriors, really ''was'' the team's legitimate business manager in RealLife.

If a {{Superhero}} has a RoguesGallery, it's an obvious plot for the villains to team up. A Villain Team Up is almost always for the sole purpose of ganging up on a hero or hero team and finishing them off ''once[[DramaticPause ...]] and for all!!!'' Villains will almost never team up to rob a bank together, or commit any other crime together. Which makes sense, because the typical RoguesGallery has villains with nothing in common at all, other than hating the hero.

This is also why they lose; unlike the heroic team they fight, the villains never trust each other. One of them ''will'' [[BetrayalTropes betray]] the rest of the group. Usually after they've captured the heroes, thus letting the heroes escape. Some heroes can even cause a "solid" Villain Team Up to implode with FlawExploitation. Other times, one of the villains has planned the whole team-up as a trap from the start. Cue AnAesop about ThePowerOfFriendship. This is one of few situations where [[StatusQuoIsGod maintaining the Status Quo]] is well {{justified|Trope}}.

A variant is that instead of ganging up, they make the heroes RunTheGauntlet. If they get on reasonably well, they'll [[ArsonMurderAndAdmiration compliment each other on their evilness]]. If conditions are right, they may become a BigBadDuumvirate. While this is usually a one-shot team up, a LegionOfDoom is a recurring team of villains and are a major opposition together. Can easily lead to a JokerJury situation. When done badly can lead to instant VillainDecay, as the hero trashes six people who each used to be a threat to him on their own. This trope is the opposite of EvilVersusEvil. When a villain teams up with the hero, that's EnemyMine.

** Dr. Hell also hires [[LightNovel/FullMetalPanic Gauron]] in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsJudgment'', works with [[Anime/MobileSuitGundam Zeon]] in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsAlpha'' and works with the [[GoLion Galra]] [[{{Voltron}} Empire]] in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsW''.

* In ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'', [[spoiler: Kabuto and Madara Uchiha are doing this.]]
** Kabuto takes it a step further with his [[spoiler: mass resurrection jutsu of every big name character to ever die in the series, forcing them to work together against the protagonists.]] They are mostly villains, but they also include some heroes.
* In ''Anime/DragonBallGT'', practically everyone the protagonists had ever killed teamed up in Hell to try to get revenge, though most of them were just used as distractions until Dr. Myuu and Dr. Gero could create Super Android 17.
** Earlier in ''Anime/DragonBallZ'', Cell, Frieza, and his QuirkyMinibossSquad teamed up to [[LikeABadassOutOfHell take over Hell]]. They got along surprisingly well.

* [[DefiedTrope Defied]] in Manga/{{Bleach}}: [[BigBad Yhwach]] made a point about visiting the last major villain, Aizen, in his prison cell to offer him to join his army. Aizen refused, presumably because his [[AGodAmI delusions of godhood]] left him too proud to become anyone's henchman, even if the person making the offer was capable of one-shotting an enemy that Aizen wasn't willing to approach without major preparations.

* The Disney Fanfic [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6048380/1/The_Hellbound_Hearts The Hellbound Hearts]] consists of several Disney villains forming a loose companionship to get revenge on their enemies, and eventually take over the world. Then there's another group that wants to take advantage of the war to take over the world. And Frollo...he's just...there.
* ''[[FanFic/UltimateSleepwalker Ultimate Sleepwalker: The New Dreams]]'' plays this trope with an unusual spin. Instead of any of Sleepwalker's enemies teaming up, it's {{Spider-Man}}'s enemies that reunite as the Sinister Six to carry out Doctor Octopus's latest diabolical scheme. Sleepwalker and several other heroes are hastily recruited by the web-slinger into an impromptu team to even the odds.

* ''FanFic/ADarkKnightOverSinCity'' has various Franchise/{{Batman}} villains teaming up with SinCity villains.
* ''Fanfic/FalloutEquestria'': Red Eye and the Goddess, though both are plotting behind each other's back.
** Subverted example: [[spoiler:the Enclave tries to form one with the Goddess. Since she has just a few minutes before being killed by a megaspell when they make the offer, the Enclave has incredibly bad timing]].

* Down quite a few times in the ''FanFic/FacingTheFutureSeries'':

** During the second arc of ''Mare of Steel'', [[LexLuthor Alexander Silversmith]] and {{Brainiac}} ally against Supermare. This alliance technically includes [[GeneralRipper Steel Wing]] as well, but it's clear from the beginning that he's just Brainiac's UnwittingPawn [[spoiler: and he gets [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness thrown under the bus once he's no longer needed.]]]]

* ''FanFic/ShadowsAwakening'': [[EvilSorcerer Daolon Wong]] and [[OurGhostsAreDifferent The Phantom/Kyosuke]] ally fairly early on in the story, with The Phantom making it perfectly clear that he's only using Wong to further his own agenda. And then it turns out that [[EnemyWithin The Queen]] and [[SealedEvilInACan Tarakudo]] are operating under a similar setup.
** Near the end of the story, [[spoiler: it turns out that the Queen and Kyosuke cut a deal behind their partners' backs; on condition of Wong's failure and the Queen proving herself a more worthy ruler of the Shadowkhan, Kyosuke will pledge loyalty to her. This is exactly what comes to pass.]]

* ''Fanfic/TheLionKingAdventures'' have a few examples:

** It is mentioned that [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword Ghirahim]] and [[VideoGameTheLegendOfZeldaSpiritTracks Chancellor Cole]] are working with Dethl as well, though they haven't shown up yet.

* In {{Superhero}} movies this seems to be required for sequels. A single villain can occupy for the first movie, but once a sequel comes out you've got to throw more and more villains together. ''Film/BatmanReturns'': Penguin + Catwoman, ''Film/BatmanForever'': Riddler + Two Face, ''Film/BatmanAndRobin'': Mr. Freeze + Poison Ivy (whether Bane is a villain or a henchman, you pick). ''Film/{{Superman}}'': Lex Luthor, ''SupermanII'': Lex + 3 Kryptonians. ''Film/{{Spider-Man}}'' avoided this for the first sequel, but made up for it by throwing in three villains (Sandman, Venom, New Goblin) for ''Spider-Man3'', two of which team up (Sandman + Venom).
** ''Film/TheAmazingSpiderMan2'' has a villain team up between Harry Osborn/The Goblin and Max Dillon/Electro. The alliance is shaky (since Dillon doesn't have any sentiment for Harry due to his background with Oscorp; Harry brokers the team-up by saying both of them were shafted by Oscorp) but Dillon's desire to strike back at Oscorp and Spider-Man is enough to get them working together. At the end, Harry [[spoiler:is working to compile a team of empowered individuals to eliminate Spider-Man, which heavily suggests he wants to form the Sinister Six]].
** The whole point of ''Film/BatmanReturns'' was to {{deconstruct}} this trope, by showing Catwoman and the Penguin working together for all of five minutes before breaking it off.
** ''Film/BatmanBegins'' has the Scarecrow initially working with Falcone, and unwittingly working ''for'' Ra's Al Ghul. ''Film/TheDarkKnight'' is borderline, as the Joker creates the second villain but never truly works with him; however, the Joker does initially work with the mob. In ''Film/TheDarkKnightRises'', Selina Kyle being blackmailed into providing ''some'' assistance to Bane is borderline given she becomes more of an {{Anti Hero}}ine later and [[spoiler:is the one who kills Bane at the end]]... [[spoiler:but Talia Al Ghul being [[TheManBehindTheMan the woman behind the man]] mantains it on "two villains per movie". Cillian Murphy's cameo as Dr. Crane, here presiding judge at the KangarooCourt, is too minor to count.]]
** ''[[Film/XMen1 X-Men]]'' and ''Film/X2XMenUnited'' avert this since, while there are multiple villains, they're on opposite sides (human villains who want to imprison or kill all mutants, and the Brotherhood using extreme means to ensure this doesn't happen), with the X-Men playing a role that is closer to a peacekeeping force trying to limit the amount of damage either can do. (In both cases, it's actually the Brotherhood that successfully thwarts the human villains' plans.) ''Film/XMenTheLastStand'' had Magneto convince Jean Grey in Phoenix form to work together; sadly, this was because [[spoiler: Jean didn't trust Charles Xavier and killed him while Magneto watched.]]
** All of the MarvelCinematicUniverse films feature this:
*** ''Film/IronMan'' featured the Ten Rings terrorist group teaming up with [[spoiler:Obadiah Stane/Iron Monger]].
*** ''Film/TheIncredibleHulk'' had General Ross and Emil Blonsky, before [[spoiler:Blonsky teamed up with Samuel Stern/The Leader to turn into The Abomination, forcing Ross to [[EnemyMine team up with the heroes]] to beat him]].
*** ''Film/IronMan2'' had Whiplash team up with Justin Hammer, although their alliance was short-lived.
*** ''Film/{{Thor}}'' gets twisty. Loki manages to convice Laufey of Jotunheim that they're working towards the same end [[spoiler:but winds up betraying him so he can justify an attack against Jotunheim]].
*** ''Film/CaptainAmericaTheFirstAvenger'' had the RedSkull and Arnim Zola.
*** ''Film/TheAvengers'' had Loki and the Chitauri soldiers, later revealed to be an army controlled by [[spoiler:{{Thanos}}]].
*** ''Film/IronMan3'' had The Mandarin and [[spoiler:Aldrich Killian]], along with [[TheDragon Coldblood]].
*** ''Film/ThorTheDarkWorld'' featured Malekith the Accursed and Algrim, who becomes Kurse.
*** ''Film/CaptainAmericaTheWinterSoldier'' had the titular Winter Soldier, [[TheDragon Crossbones]] and [[spoiler:a computerized Arnim Zola]] all working for [[spoiler:Alexander Pierce and HYDRA]]. Batroc the Leaper appears to be working with them as well, [[spoiler:though he ends up being just a RedHerring]].
*** ''Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxy'' had Ronan the Accuser allying with Nebula, who's acting as an emissary of [[BiggerBad Thanos]]. [[spoiler: And then they both turn on him once getting the Infinity Stone.]]

* In the Franchise/StarTrekNovelVerse, Villain Team Up is essentially the idea behind the ''Literature/StarTrekTyphonPact'' series, only with a twist. It's uncertain if the Typhon Pact will be an enemy of the United Federation of Planets or not. Politically, everything is highly uncertain, following the formation of the Pact in ''Literature/ASingularDestiny'' (a novel detailing the aftermath of ''StarTrekDestiny''). While the Pact members were historically antagonistic, their outlook may be changing, at least in some cases. The extent to which they will remain "villains" is unclear. The Tholians, at least, look set to remain enemies, whether the rest of the Pact follows their lead or reins them in is anyone's guess. As of the most recent books, a division between those members who hate the Federation and those who seek peace and even alliance with it looks increasingly likely.

* The failure half of this occurs in the Star Wars novel Darth Bane: Path of Destruction due to nature of the Sith's ChronicBackstabbingDisorder. Bane creates his rule of two to avoid this problem.
* In ''The Warlord of Mars'', third book of the JohnCarterOfMars series, Matai Shang (a previously-offscreen but often mentioned [[TheChessmaster chessmaster]]), Thurid (a minor villain from the previous book) and Salensus Oll (a newly-introduced EvilOverlord) pull off one of these, [[spoiler: which ends up falling apart messily, since all three hate each other's guts and have only temporarily-related goals]]. Rounding out the partnership is Matai Shang's daughter [[DaddysLittleVillain Phaidor]], though she's genuinely loyal to her dad and is mostly along for the ride rather than a co-conspirator.

* ''Series/BurnNotice'': Had an episode with "Dead" Larry Sizemore and Tyler Brennen, two of Michael Westen's worst enemies, team up. Their partnership lasted just [[IncrediblyLamePun half the episode]], since Larry [[spoiler: never intended to work with Brennen long-term and simply stabs him in the chest, killing him.]]
* ''Series/{{Defiance}}'': Near the end of the first season, [[TheDon Datak]] allies with the corrupt Earth Republic (represented by Colonel Marsh) in order to [[spoiler: discredit Nolan and Amanda]] and help Datak win the mayoral election. In exchange, the plan is that Datak will help the E-Rep gain control of Rafe's mines (with Datak getting a sizable chunk of the profits). [[spoiler: Then, in the season finale, it turns out Marsh was just using Datak to take over the town and get to the ancient Votan ship buried underneath it. When Datak realizes this, he kills Marsh in a rage.]]
* ''Series/DoctorWho'': The episode "Doomsday" makes this a SubvertedTrope; the Cybermen offer the Daleks an alliance. The Daleks instinctively refuse. The rest of the episode involves the Daleks and the Cybermen kicking the snot out of each other, with the Doctor and the humans trapped in the middle.
** A comic strip from the 1990s also parodies this, with an omnipotent superbeing uniting all the Doctor's enemies together as one super-army, and then siccing them on all (then) eight Doctors. The Doctors point out the obvious flaw in the logic of bad guys all of whom they'd already defeated uniting to try and defeat them again... and then go on to defeat them all again.
** This is basically the plot of "Mark of the Rani" wherein [[MagnificentBastard the Master]] and [[EmperorScientist the Rani]] team up against the Sixth Doctor, though it's not really a mutual agreement. The Master [[BlackmailIsSuchAnUglyWord blackmails]] and [[ArsonMurderAndAdmiration bribes]] the Rani into cooperating with him, and when he eventually botches the entire plan due to his [[FoeYay obsession with the Doctor]], the Rani [[GroinAttack registers]] [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome her displeasure]].
** In "The Pandorica Opens" almost all of the Doctor's enemies we've ever heard of and more descend on Earth in 102A.D. to witness the titular event. [[spoiler: Turns out that, while the Doctor knew the Pandorica was a prison of some sort he had assumed it was already occupied by someone. Really what happened was that all of his foes came together to trap the Doctor in the Pandorica in order to prevent the destruction of the universe at his hands.]]

* ''Series/PowerRangersInSpace'': There was the United Alliance of Evil, a group formed by Dark Spectre and comprised of the villains from the first five seasons of ''Franchise/PowerRangers'', namely Lord Zedd, Rita Repulsa, the Machine Empire and Divatox.

* ''Series/{{Supernatural}}'': SubvertedTrope. Crowley tries to pull one with the Boss Leviathan (he even bakes [[ToServeMan gluten-free baby uvula muffins]] for the occasion!), but gets shot down.
** He did manage to temporarily team up with [[ArchangelRaphael Raphael]] in the previous season finale after [[spoiler: his previous deal with Castiel fell apart]], but that lasted all of ten minutes before [[spoiler: Cas OutGambitted them both, killed Raph, and sent Crowley on the run]].
* ''TV Colosso'': There was a sketch named "As Aventuras do Super Cão" (The Adventures of Super Dog). Not ''that'' [[KryptoTheSuperdog superdog]]. In one episode, the villains teamed up and the eponymous hero wasn't worried. The villains argued about who had the idea one of them was presenting.

* ProfessionalWrestling sort of did this when rival heel stables Wrestling/TheCorporation and The Wrestling/MinistryOfDarkness put aside their differences and teamed up to take on their mutual enemies.
** [[Wrestling/VinceMcMahon Vince [=McMahon=]]] was the [[BigBad Higher Power]] controlling both groups the entire time as part of his EvilPlan to get the title off of [[Wrestling/StoneColdSteveAustin "Stone Cold" Steve Austin]] though, so at the very least Vince, [[Wrestling/ShaneMcMahon Shane]], and Wrestling/TheUndertaker were in cahoots the entire time. The members of the Corporate Ministry still didn't get along very well though, especially Undertaker and TripleH, and the group disbanded right after the Austin vs Vince feud ended.
** The Four Horsemen and the Wrestling/DungeonOfDoom created the Alliance to End Hulkamania to finally get rid of [[InvincibleHero Boring Invincible Hero]] Wrestling/HulkHogan. It failed miserably.

* Not a straight example, since they teamed up to TakeOverTheWorld([=s=]) rather then to beat up the hero, but in ''VideoGame/KingdomHearts'', [[Disney/SleepingBeauty Maleficent]] teams up with [[Disney/PeterPan Captain Hook]], [[TheNightmareBeforeChristmas Oogie Boogie]], [[Disney/{{Aladdin}} Jafar]], [[Disney/TheLittleMermaid Ursula]], [[Disney/{{Hercules}} Hades]], and, later on, [[MyFriendsAndZoidberg Pete]]. One of the few villain alliances that actually managed to keep itself united without any form of internal struggles or betrayals entering the picture (the same can't be said about [[ChronicBackstabbingDisorder Organization XIII]]).

* ''Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics'' has [[SuperMarioBros Bowser]] and [[SonicTheHedgehog Dr. "Eggman" Robotnik]] scheme to melt all the snow in the world by capturing the Snow Spirits.
** They're at it again in the London 2012 sequel. This time creating an artificial [[OminousFog thick fog]] to ruin the London games.
* Another MassiveMultiplayerCrossover game, the Subspace Emissary mode of ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros Brawl'', also starts out with one of these, involving [[Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda Ganondorf]], [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Bowser, Wario]], [[Franchise/{{Kirby}} King Dedede]], Master Hand, and with special guest appearances by [[SuperMarioBros Petey Pirahna]], [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Rayquaza]], [[Franchise/{{Metroid}} Ridley]], and [[VideoGame/{{Mother3}} Porky Minch]]. It quickly unravels though when Ganondorf [[HijackedByGanon attempts to backstab everyone]], Dedede [[GoodAllAlong turns out to be a good guy]], and then turns into a full-blown EnemyMine when the ''[[ManBehindTheMan real]]'' BigBad is revealed.
** It also potentially has some lesser versions in event matches and what not. The showdown of Melee has [[SuperMarioBros Giga Bowser]], [[Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda Ganondorf]] and [[{{Pokemon}} Mewtwo]] as a team vs whatever character you chose. Brawl has the Final Battle (Bowser, Ganondorf and Dedede team up), Two Trouble Kings (Bowser and King Dedede against Mario or Mario and Kirby), and the Final Battle for Two (two chararacters of player choice against Bowser, Ganondorf, King Dedede, Meta Knight, Wolf and Wario).
* Because of [[MassiveMultiplayerCrossover the nature of the game]], this also happens in the VideoGame/SuperRobotWars series frequently and in nearly every game. [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsJudgment For example]], [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEED ZAFT]] can be found helping the [[MartianSuccessorNadesico Jovian army]].
** Who teams up with who and for what reasons often vary, depending on the game. The first game has the [[Franchise/{{Gundam}} Principality of Zeon]], [[MazingerZ Doctor Hell]] and the [[GetterRobo Dinosaur Empire]] being mind controlled by ancient evil mecha, the second game has the villains united into Divine Crusaders by Brian Zoldak, an alliance that has fallen apart only in the sequel, when the Zabi familly took over after Zoldak's death and soon they started fighting each other. From that point different games saw different variations of alliances with varying results, sometimes even fighting other villains.
* ''VideoGame/MegaManX 5'' does this by way of implication. He never shows up on screen, but given all the callbacks, and the overall plan Sigma has, it's obvious that [[VideoGame/MegaMan Dr. Wily]] is somehow teaming up with him. WordOfGod later confirmed he was brought back to live by the Maverick Virus somehow.
* In ''VideoGame/MassEffect2'', the vigilante Archangel was such a royal pain in the ass that Omega's major mercenary groups put their differences aside [[{{Badass}} to hunt just ONE guy.]]
** [[OneManArmy He holds them off for a long time, too. Alone.]] [[BigDamnHeroes At least, long enough for Shepard and co. to show up.]]

* The titular Deadly Alliance in Mortal Kombat 5 consists of Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, who form an alliance to kill the two people who possess the biggest threats to them (Liu Kang and Shao Kahn) and conquer the realms using the lost army of the Dragon King.
** Later, in VideoGame/MortalKombatArmageddon's Konquest mode, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Shao Kahn, and Onaga form an "alliance of traitors", as Onaga [[LampshadeHanging refers to it]].
* VideoGame/SonicGenerations has [[spoiler: Dr. Eggman team up with his past self, Dr. Robotnik. ("Nobody calls me that anymore.")]]

* We see that the team of [[BigBad Lord Xykon]] and [[TheDragon Redcloak]] from ''Webcomic/TheOrderOfTheStick'' started off as this. The prequel shows that the two first met when Redcloak saw Xykon obliterate a garrison of paladins and, as Redcloak's brother says, "Let's suggest a team-up with him, [[MarvelComics Marvel]] style!"
** And then [[spoiler: General Tarquin]] joined forces with Nale and the Linear Guild.

* In RPGWorld, [[BigBad Galgarion]] and [[spoiler:Jeff, Eikre's rival]] have been hired by [[EvilCorp South Corp]] to take out the main group of heroes.
