[[ForWantOfANail However, this drastically alters his life so that he's a lowly lieutenant in the present, not a badass captain]]. So, he's taken back to the fight [[DyingAsYourself because he'd rather die as somebody who lived a meaningful life]]. He sets things straight and he miraculously survives in the present.
