These are the most common jokes that one will find reused in works of parody, skits, comics and the like.

Keep in mind that just because these jokes tend to be routinely repeated a lot [[Administrivia/TropesAreTools it doesn’t mean that they have to be bad]]. While many of them have become {{discredited|Meme}} due to how overused and tired they have become, many can still be as funny as they have always been, and many of these repetitions don’t necessarily have to come from unoriginality/plagiarism as much as they can come from we as people coming up with the same jokes and observations as others when enjoying media, and just like [[JustForFun/TheTropelessTale it’s impossible to come up with a story with no tropes whatsoever]], it’s impossible to come up with a joke that no one has ever made before.

Common types of stock parody jokes include, but are not limited to:
* An [[ArtisticLicense unrealistic]] scene in a work of fiction being recreated now with a SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome, probably something [[DarkParody dark and/or graphic]] (e.g. characters severely injuring themselves after trying to [[PooledFunds dive into money]] like [[Franchise/DuckTales Scrooge McDuck]])
* A scene in a work of fiction being recreated with characters doing something smarter or more sensible (e.g. [[WesternAnimation/{{Aladdin}} Jafar]] wishing to be more powerful than the Genie instead of becoming a genie himself)
* Trying to give a logical explanation to a character's odd behavior, probably something dark/mature (e.g. [[Franchise/ScoobyDoo Shaggy and Scooby Doo]] -- the former, especially -- are stoners, due to their cowardly personalities and big appetites)
* Trying to give a logical explanation to a character's odd looks, probably something dark/mature (e.g. [[ComicStrip/{{Peanuts}} Charlie Brown]], WesternAnimation/{{Caillou}}, or any other [[CharlieBrownBaldness bald children]] are chemotherapy patients or WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons and other [[AmazingTechnicolorPopulation yellow cartoon humans]] suffer from jaundice)
* Trying to give a logical explanation to a work's fantastical setting, probably something dark and/or depressing (e.g. ''Series/{{Teletubbies}}'' is set AfterTheEnd, and the titular characters are alien settlers of the deserted Earth, or mutants created as a result of radiation. Chances are, that if a work has robots as the dominant life form, and there are no humans to be found, then people will assume that it takes place AfterTheEnd where [[AIIsACrapshoot robots have turned against humanity]] and replaced them as the dominant life forms)
* Making the hero of the story [[AdaptationalJerkass look like a jerk]] or [[AdaptationalVillainy outright villainous]], and [[AdaptationalHeroism vice versa with the villain]] (e.g. [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Mario]] is a SociopathicHero who goes around mercilessly stomping on enemies)
* Questioning any of the work's {{plot hole}}s (e.g. questioning the third rule in ''Film/{{Gremlins}}'' about not feeding Mogwai after midnight, as the film never says when it's okay to feed them again, thus meaning it's always after midnight)
* Making a [[{{Pun}} play on words]] with a character's {{Catchphrase}} or a SignatureLine (e.g. [[Franchise/{{Saw}} Jigsaw]] inviting a victim to play a ''regular'' game, such as soccer, video games, or board games)
* Accusing two characters of the same gender that have a close relationship with each other [[HoYay of being gay or lesbian]] (e.g. [[Franchise/StarWars C-3PO and R2-D2]], [[Franchise/TheLionKing Timon and Pumbaa]], [[ComicStrip/{{Peanuts}} Peppermint Patty and Marcie]], [[WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants SpongeBob and Patrick]], etc.)
* For works based on [[ArtisticLicenseHistory altered real events]], recreating the work to be more historically accurate, probably using dark/graphic events (e.g. ''WesternAnimation/{{Pocahontas}}'', ''Film/BackToTheFuturePartIII'')
