** Michael Cole seems to have somewhat avoided this as Ross has been moved to ''SmackDown'' rather than simply taken off TV. Mostly because he was already a [[TheScrappy Scrappy]] to begin with.

*** LOL, that's exactly the reason why I don't understand why people hate him. He seems exactly like his brother to me, what's the difference? Didn't really matter to me.

** Happened to Nightwing in JLA-Task Force. Note he wasn't loathed by the fans (as far as I know), he was loathed by his team members in canon.

** Personally, I thought it was because the character was essentially a female version of Dr. [=McCoy=] from TOS, but without the charm.

*** That was the main problem with the Roman Empire ([[strike: well, other than the fact they made their cups and plates out of lead -- not having a science of chemistry or modern medicine, they didn't know it was poisonous]] they were well aware that it was poisonous and this theory is heavily disputed), namely that the first Roman Emperor never really put in a way for his successor to be named. It got ''really'' weird when the emperor's own Praetorian Guard strangled him at one point and sold his throne off to the highest bidder.
* The American Presidency is an especially apt example of this (could be the TropeNamer for this and/or JonasQuinn) Many Presidents are judged less on their policies and more on comparisons to their predecessors. George W. Bush is a very good example as he is a JonasQuinn to his father and a ReplacementScrappy to his more popular immediate precedcessor, [[HandsomeLech Bill Clinton]]. Even BarackObama [[YourMileageMayVary is considered a replacement scrappy by some]]-- and you've seen the act he followed! ''Every'' President is seen as a ReplacementScrappy by some. Every president is seen as ''[[TheScrappy The]]'' [[TheScrappy Scrappy]] by [[UnpleasableFanbase some]]. That's why it's better to be TheManBehindTheMan and rule through puppet leaders-- oops, Ive said too much.

** And let's face it, any original female character who is brought in for the sole purpose of replacing the legendary Maid Marian as Robin Hood's love interest is '''doomed''' to be despised for the crime of not being Marian. Why did the writers even ''try''?
*** if the writers had made Kate a likeable and memorable character, she might've gone over better.

* Accept lost a considerable amount of fans after replacing vocalist Udo Kier with David Reece and drastically changed their sound on their ''Eat The Heat'' album, after which they wisely took back Udo.

* In ''{{The King of Fighters}}'', lots of people hated May-Lee for replacing Jhun Hoon. And lots of people hate [[TheStoic K']] and [[GorgeousGeorge Ash Crimson]] for not being either Kyo or Iori. K', however is less Scrappy than Ash because he only links himself with Kyo's story once (in 1999, whereas actual Kyo clones appear, but even they don't play much to the story/main fighting) and doesn't bother with him much. Ash, on the other hand, had it worse due to his [[GorgeousGeorge extremely flamboyant style]], as well as him becoming a [[TheWesley Wesley]] by starting to actually UPSTAGE Kyo and his crews [[spoiler:by stealing Chizuru's powers, and later Iori's]], in ''EVERY'' game he's in.
** May Lee is an interesting case. She was reviled (at least in Japan) when it was revealed in ''King of Fighters 2002'' that a newbie had "stolen" King's spot, and placed alongside the veterans of the Women Fighters team (Mai and Yuri). Other than that, [[EnsembleDarkhorse the fans seem to]] ''[[EnsembleDarkhorse love]]'' [[EnsembleDarkhorse her]].
* In the ''SoulCalibur'' series, rabid Hwang fanboys (and Hwang x Mina fangirls) just won't stop bashing Hong Yungsung for replacing Hwang in ''SoulCalibur II''.
** Which is pretty weird since Hwang Sungkyung ''himself'' was a originally a replacement for Heishiro Mitsurugi in the Korean localization of Soul Edge (where depictions of samurais are banned for historical reasons). On top of that, he's an unlockable bonus character in nearly every game since.

*** It doesn't help that [[soiler:Madara]] is a fairly generic character with a plan that amounts to TakeOverTheWorld via mind control, and for no [[ForTheEvulz real reason]].

** Many people believe that Langston was a replacement for Grissom, since Langston showed up right after Grissom left. However, Catherine moved up to fill Grissom's spot, and Langston was starting at the bottom. It probably didn't help that a lot of people watched the show and thought "Why is Morpheus on CSI?"

* Averted with CaptainAmerica. When Cap's old sidekick Bucky took the mantle after Steve Rogers death, his portrayal was done succesfully and he was widely accepted by the fans. To the point where [[IGotBetter Steve Rogers' inevitable return]] disappointed many fans that had grew accustomed to Bucky Cap! [[spoiler: To the extent that despite Rogers' return, it still looks like Bucky will continue to be Captain America.]]

* Averted with CaptainAmerica. When Cap's old sidekick Bucky took the mantle after Steve Rogers death, his portrayal was done succesfully and he was widely accepted by the fans. To the point where Steve Rogers inevitable return disappointed many fans that had grew accustomed to Bucky!Cap. [[spoiler: To the extent that despite Rogers' return, it still looks like Bucky will continue to be Captain America.]]

** An animation director's blog revealed that (as predicted) Dawn is getting replaced next season. ''Unlike'' as was expected, the new character (that nothing is known about) ''isn't'' hated for replacing Dawn... but for being used instead of [[EnsembleDarkhorse the Black and White female main character]]. Brock will also be going, but somehow the fanbase now either thinks he has gotten stale and exists only for the sake of OverusedRunningGag or will pop up after the first 3 episodes like he did in Hoenn.
