* Mace Windu wields a purple lightsaber in the ''Star Wars'' Prequel Trilogy. It's the only purple lightsaber seen in the ''Franchise/StarWars'' films, which helps set him apart as an important Jedi. ''Franchise/StarWarsLegends'' simply states that the purple crystal is extremely rare and hard to get. Creator/SamuelLJackson requested a purple lightsaber so he could see himself more easily in group battles. It's also the color of Mara Jade's lightsaber, down to hinting that it is in fact Windu's. ''VideoGame/KnightsOfTheOldRepublic'' has Revan use one, and the color is treated as somewhere between a Jedi Guardian and the red color mainly used by Sith.

** ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyIV'': In remakes the Lunar Eidolon {{Bonus Boss}}es are blue and purple. Dark Kain, Kain's EnemyWithout, wears purple armor [[spoiler:since he transforms into Lunar Bahamut]]; and in some depictions the normal Kain wears purple armor himself. BigBad Zemus wears a long purple robe.

** The Corpse of King Minos shares the black and purple color scheme with the Circle of Lust, and despite his slow movement, King Minos [[MightyGlacier hits hard and takes tons of hits to be killed]] (again). That, and he summons equally slow yet deadly [[UnrealisticBlackHole purple black holes]] on the battlefield. Fitting, as purple is the color of royalty, and Minos used to rule the Circle of Lust as [[TheGoodKing a beloved king]]. [[spoiler:Ironically, his ''much'' stronger form, [[BonusBoss Minos Prime]], lacks a speck of purple on his HeavenlyBlue soul.]]

* The ancient Greeks (and Romans) considered amethyst, a purple semiprecious stone, an amulet against drunkenness (it's name means more or less, "won't get drunk").

** The Element of Destruction in the series is presented as one of the two most powerful elements, counterplaced to the Element of Creation. It is also represented by black and purple colors. Many villains in the series employ it as their element.
