* Pirates like Gold Roger in ''Manga/OnePiece'' often receive public executions. According to Igaram, the government pays 30% less for dead pirates because they can't be executed in public. Roger's public execution before the whole world backfired spectacularly for the government, though, as his last words [[PlotTriggeringDeath started the first Golden Age of Piracy]]. Another public execution also backfired in that, [[GoneHorriblyRight while they managed to execute the pirate and managed to take down a larger pirate in the process]], [[spoiler:the ''latter'''s last words kickstarted a ''second'' Golden Age of Piracy, one they couldn't easily contain]].

* The music video to Music/{{Rammstein}}'s "Deutchland" has a scene with the band about to be executed by hanging in front of a crowd by Nazis but escaping. At the end of the video, the Nazis are given a public execution by firing squad.

* [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] in ''Fanfic/QuirklessSoldierGetsAHaremIzukuYagi''. When Bakugou had received a brutal NoHoldsBarredBeatdown from Izuku, he pulled out one of his guns and was about ready to kill him. Had Midnight not stopped him from pulling the trigger, the whole world would've seen an ARC captain coldly execute a UA student on live TV.

* Happens with the Execution video on ''Website/GoAnimate''. Usually for bad users and bad people like ''Boris the Teeth Guy''.

** At the [[spoiler:Manburg Festival]], [[spoiler:Tubbo]] is revealed to the public to be TheMole for Pogtopia and Schlatt orders him to be publicly executed [[spoiler:at the Festival he decorated for]], to the horror and objection of [[EveryoneHasStandards practically everyone else present]]. Unfortunately for [[spoiler:Tubbo]], [[spoiler:Technoblade doesn't do well under (what he claims to be) peer pressure, and [[FatalFireworks shoots the firework rockets in his face]] anyway.]]
** [[spoiler:Techno]] himself becomes on the receiving end of this trope after [[spoiler:the Butcher Army arrests him for destroying the remains of L'Manburg with Withers during the Manburg-Pogtopia War, in addition to their personal grievances against him for traumatizing them for life]]. However, [[spoiler:Techno manages to survive and escape the execution with help from Dream, and [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge vows revenge]] for what he believes to be an act of injustice against him.]]
** The Green Festival on January 5th, 2021 was initially planned as a public execution for Dream, but [[spoiler:this became {{subverted|Trope}} when all of the Butcher Army's plans get thrown out the window, as Dream reveals the destruction of the Community House]] and [[WhamEpisode the shit hits the fan]] for everyone in attendance.
** During the [[spoiler:[[NastyParty Red Banquet]]]], [[spoiler:Foolish]] is ritually sacrificed to [[BotanicalAbomination the Egg]] in front of [[spoiler:the attendees of the Banquet]], because [[spoiler:he tried to protect Eret, his OldFriend, from being made an example of by [[TheTheocracy the Eggpire]].]] Fortunately, there weren't any other fatalities once the BigDamnHeroes show up.

* In ''{{Webcomic/Homestuck}}'', this is the final fate of [[spoiler: Karkat's ancestor, the Sufferer]]. Also doubles as MakeAnExampleOfThem.

* ''Fanfic/MyHeroAcademiaUnchainedPredator'': The Slayer walks upon a ransom demand the Sabers were demanding, [[EnemyRisingBehind much to the three Sabers' obliviousness]]. They only realize he's behind them when he pulls out his chainsaw, revs it up and [[HalfTheManHeUsedToBe saws the motor mouth in half]], before slaughtering the entire group of Sabers in the loading bay, all while the camera, knocked into the sub bay [[CaughtOnTape was filming a one-sided fight]]. [[EvenEvilHasStandards two chapters later, two of the Sabers literally claim it's the most fucked up shit they ever saw.]]
