** An AntiClimacticUnmasking is used this way when it comes to Calendar Girl. As Batman moves to unmask her, she panics, screaming and sobbing about how no-one can be allowed to see how hideous she is. This sets up the expectation that maybe she has some form of horrific scar from botched plastic surgery after she was forced away from modelling... but, when the mask is removed, Calendar Girl looks exactly like an attractive woman in her late thirties.

* ''Manga/MariaNoDanzai'': AllForNothing is played for drama and cruelly straight in the worst way possible in the end in this story. Kiritaka Nagare was bullied for months by a group of satanic thugs and bullies. The bullying Nagare suffered is more than bullying; it is more like inhuman torture. The reason Nagare endured all the torture he got for months was that he was gathering evidence on the bullies; it was implied that he wanted to protect his classmates from the bullies; when he took the place of another classmate, whom the bullies were torturing, and he did not want to worry his mother Mari Nagare who he loved greatly. Nagare was killed by a prank by the bullies, which his mother saw; an investigation by the police told his parents that his death was a suicide caused by abusive parents. His mother, Maria, depressed by his death and the reasons given for his death, discovered his journal about the bullying he suffered and swears revenge on the bullying. Two years later, Maria is under a new identity, Maria Akeboshi, and is hunting and killing Nagare's bullies one by one; she throws away her marriage and her previous life to get revenge. It is clear that her son's death has completely destroyed Maria, and even though she's getting revenge for her son, it will likely cost Maria her sanity and life. All in all, Kiritaka Nagare failed to report his bullies, and it's implied that the two years after his death, his bullies had free reign to destroy his classmate's lives, while his mother is avenging his death since she has been broken by his death and her life has been destroyed, him sacrificing his life to protect her from being exploited was ultimately pointless.

Two defunct tropes. The security guard example is preserved in a TRS sandbox already.

* One comic-book tie-in to ''Franchise/TheMatrix'' used AcceptableProfessionalTargets to dramatic effect, specifically the stereotype of a security guard being a bumbling, incredibly stupid loser who desperately wants to be a real cop. In a Bluepill security guard's desire to be a real cop, he rushed to break up a fight between a Redpill and an Agent he was an accidental witness to. The fight being way above his head, he got pointlessly killed for it.

* AcceptableEthnicTargets is used for drama in ''Film/{{Freaks}}'' where the normal-height, physically attractive Cleopatra toys with Franz's affections, thinking of him as a subhuman joke. The "normal" Cleopatra and Hercules are depicted as grotesque on the ''inside,'' whereas the "freaks" are mostly decent people...and if you harm one of them, you get to deal with ''all'' of them.
