[[folder:Films -- Animation]]
* In ''Anime/CastleInTheSky'', the robot guardians of the titular Castle in the Sky certainly qualify. One of them almost manages to takes out an entire military base [[JustForPun single]]-[[NotHyperbole handed]], if not for Dola's interference and the artillery reprisal from the airship Goliath.
* The WesternAnimation/DisneyAnimatedCanon has a few examples...
** ''Disney/{{Aladdin}}'''s Jafar, after being made a genie. He already had the ability to shapeshift into a giant snake. Now he has added RealityWarper powers! [[PowerAtAPrice Except of course, being a genie meant being bound to your lamp]].
** Elsa from ''Disney/{{Frozen}}'', or at least she sees herself this way. Given that she [[spoiler: subjects her seaside capital to an EndlessWinter harsh enough to freeze the harbor solid in midsummer and can create not only an entire massive castle out of ice but also living ice creatures all with barely any effort and with no real training ]], she has a point.
** ''Disney/{{Hercules}}'' has a cast full of people of mass destruction: Hercules himself, the Titans, Zeus, Hades.. The list goes on and on. Though Hades' status as NonActionBigBad raises at least some doubts about his capabilities, he's still a PhysicalGod commanding a cabinet full of creepy monsters.
** Ursula in ''Disney/TheLittleMermaid'', but only after she obtains Triton's trident and therewith power over all the oceans (which means power over roughly ''71% of the world''.) She is only defeated by being caught off guard.
** [[EvilSorcerer Maleficent]] from ''Disney/SleepingBeauty'' is so powerful she nears RealityWarper status. She casts incredibly complicated curses, creates a giant spiky forest or rose thorns in an instant and [[ScaledUp can turn into a]] ''[[InstantAwesomeJustAddDragons dragon]]''. All the powers of hell, indeed. She is so powerful that the story's [[DorkKnight hero]] is unable to defeat her, and needs the three good fairies to cop him out.. multiple times.
** Ralph from ''Disney/WreckItRalph'' arguably applies.

[[folder:Films -- Live-Action]]
* Aurora/Marie Zorn in ''Film/BabylonAD'' is believed to be a viral weapon at first. In the book "Literature/BabylonBabies" another woman is used in this fashion -- when she comes into proximity with the pheromones of her target, her body rapidly creates a virus that kills several hundred people in minutes, wiping out the upper echelons of the Neolite sect.
* [[spoiler:Andrew]] in ''Film/{{Chronicle}}'' after he snaps. He nearly demolishes an entire city with his PsychicPowers and there is absolutely ''nothing'' anyone [[spoiler:except Matt, who also has telekinesis]] can do to stop him.
* In ''Film/DraculaUntold'', once he becomes a vampire, Dracula is able to devastate entire armies singlehandedly with his supernatural powers.
* Paul Atreides in the Creator/DavidLynch film ''Film/{{Dune}}'' is capable of calling gigantic sandworms, using the voice and using sonic weapons without the weirding module. His name is a killing word.
* A bit downplayed in ''Film/{{Godzilla 2014}}''. Though still '''very''' destructive and tending to take out whole cities in his fights, Godzilla doesn't cause as much destruction as the Mutos do during the film and takes some effort not to plow through everything in sight.
* Liz Sherman of ''Film/{{Hellboy}}''. The harmless-looking girl is the one who as a child lost her temper and destroyed an entire city block and everyone on it (except herself).
* ''Film/{{Looper}}'' has [[spoiler:Cid]], an extremely-powerful [[MindOverMatter telekinetic]] who can level city blocks when angry or upset and crush people like lemons. Later on, he learns to control this power and becomes [[spoiler:the Rainmaker]].
* ''Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse'': A number of powered people (especially the Avengers) are extremely dangerous, to the point that they can literally fight entire armies.
** Tony Stark as Iron Man technically counts, but the world generally gives him a pass because he can always take off the suit.
** Bruce Banner as Hulk is a much straighter example since he can rage out at any time and the only thing that has ever stopped him is Tony's Hulkbuster armor. This gets worse in ''Film/AvengersAgeOfUltron'', when he is driven into a mad rage by Wanda's powers.
** Thor is arguably a god, and definitely a superhuman alien who is considered extremely powerful even by their standards.
** Vision is an ArtificialHuman with a wide range of abilities granted by an alien artifact implanted in his skull. He's a bit too dorky for people to really be scared of, but at the very least he's NighInvulnerable with the ability to fire energy beams that can cut through steel like cheese.
** Wanda as Scarlet Witch is a SquishyWizard, but in terms of pure power is probably the strongest of them all. She's definitely on the short list of most powerful entities in the world (including the television shows), and her character arc in ''Film/CaptainAmericaCivilWar'' is about accepting that she can't control how people fear her, only how she fears herself. Notably, when Cap performs an illegal mission that has nothing to do with Wanda, Tony immediately asks Vision to keep her at the Avengers compound solely to keep the United Nations placated.
--->'''Tony:''' She's not a US citizen, and they don't give out visas to weapons of mass destruction!
** On the television side, ''Series/AgentsOfSHIELD'' introduces Daisy Johnson, also known as Quake. She can produce violent tremors, which can be used as a sort of telekinetic push, or shatter someone's spine, or bring down a building. A Kree who has studied the Inhuman project theorizes that she might be able to affect entire continents, and in one BadFuture she seemingly [[spoiler:''destroyed the Earth'']].
** Also from ''Series/AgentsOfSHIELD'', there is Alveus, more commonly known as Hive. For starters, it is one of the Inhuman Prototypes created directly by the Kree, rather than Quake's Inhuman DNA being passed down through the generations. It possesses corpses, rendering them superhumanly strong and durable with a massive HealingFactor. It can also turn its host's flesh into sand-like spores that it can use to devour any living thing it chooses, as well as infect other Inhumans to add to the HiveMind, allowing it to manipulate them into following its orders. From what we see, Hive is strong enough to withstand electrocution, having multiple bone fractures, being shot repeatedly, and being able to recover from Lash's energy blasts, which have been shown to instantly kill anyone else. Its weakness is fire, which is a moot point since it can just abandon the burnt body and salvage a new one. It is also susceptible to mental attacks, which disorient and confuse it due to its MindHive -- even then, it recovers over a few hours. When Hive is first encountered, it is on an alien world that has been turned into a barren desert with a near-perpetual sandstorm. Hive is quite happy to explain to people that there used to be a prospering civilization that spanned the entire planet -- until Hive ''ate'' everyone.
** In ''Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxy'', we're given Yondu Udonta, an amoral SpacePirate and OneManArmy whose weapon of choice is a nigh-unstoppable AttackDrone arrow that he controls through a cybernetic implant on his head. When Yondu goes all out, he can kill a ship-full of several hundred people in a matter of minutes. And best of all, he can do all this without damaging any infrastructure if he wants, essentially making him a perfect weapon of mass destruction from a military perspective.
** Film/{{Captain Marvel|2019}} was described by WordOfGod beforehand as the mightiest hero in the movies thus far. When we see her in action, she is a veritable cosmic powerhouse who [[spoiler:destroys an entire alien armada at once when they try to target Earth]]. Her powers include SuperStrength, [[LightEmUp photon blasts]], {{Flight}}, NighInvulnerability, [[BatmanCanBreatheInSpace survival in the vacuum of space]], FasterThanLightTravel, and a GoldenSuperMode that takes all of the above UpToEleven.
* ''Franchise/TheMatrix'': After Neo TookALevelInBadass after dying and learned to ''disbelieve'' the reality of the Matrix, he gains EnlightenmentSuperpowers that effectively makes him a PhysicalGod. The only time where he shows how potent a RealityWarper effect he can achieve is near the end of ''Film/TheMatrixReloaded'', where Neo escapes an exploding building, flies at such speed that virtual reality literally ''bends and breaks'', with cars and debris ripped, pulverized and dragged behind him. After [[NotTheFallThatKillsYou catching Trinity at super-speed without killing her]], Neo uses his powers to reach into her body to revive her after she dies in his arms from an Agent's gunshot wound.
* ''Film/SpiderMan3'''s Flint Marko / Sandman is literally a natural disaster, able to become things such as a sentient sandstorm and an enormous {{Kaiju}}.
* The villain Nuclear Man from ''Film/SupermanIVTheQuestForPeace'' was supposed to be an {{Anvilicious}} statement about nukes... until it was shown that he was actually ''solar'' powered, making him possibly the greenest supervillain in existence. [[BrokenAesop Ouch.]]
** Ironically enough, Superman would prove to be this in ''Film/ManOfSteel'', as his fight with Zod causes catastrophic damage to Metropolis as the two aliens demolish whole skyscrapers simply as a side effect of their battle.
* ''Film/XMenFilmSeries'':
** ''Film/X2XMenUnited'': Professor Charles Xavier can kill everyone on the planet with Cerebro if he concentrates hard enough.
** ''Film/XMenTheLastStand'': The Phoenix effortlessly vaporizes hundreds of human soldiers and Magneto's mutant followers.
** ''Film/XMenFirstClass'':
*** All of the mutants to a degree, but explicitly emphasized as [[BigBad Sebastian Shaw's]] primary power--he can absorb energy... ''all kinds'' of energy. This makes him effectively bullet-proof, [[MoreDakka rocket and grenade-proof,]] [[ImplacableMan and can even absorb the energy of your punches, no matter how strong you are.]] [[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld He also states that he is effectively immortal.]] Finally, he can absorb enough energy to simulate a nuclear bomb blast... and presumably come out the other side unharmed.
*** Havok is fearful of the damage his powers could do if he isn't kept isolated, and so prefers being in solitary confinement while in prison so he is at less risk of hurting someone by accident.
** ''Film/{{Deadpool 2016}}'': Negasonic Teenage Warhead destroys a large part of the scrapyard with her last attack, capsizing the grounded helicarrier and sends Angel Dust bouncing around like a pinball.
** ''Film/XMenApocalypse'': En Sabah Nur is so powerful that, when he wakes up from his 5500-year-long slumber in Egypt, the energy release can be felt in ''Germany''. He single-handedly razes the city of Cairo to the ground with his MindOverMatter powers, potentially massacring millions of its inhabitants. [[spoiler:He is defeated once Xavier gets the young Jean Grey to unleash the full extent of her powers as the Phoenix.]]
** In ''Film/{{Logan}}'', Transigen Security Chief Donald Pierce pointedly reminds an aged Wolverine that the HSA considers the brain of an elderly Professor X, whom Wolverine has been caring for, to be a weapon of mass destruction.

* PersonOfMassDestruction/FanWorks

[[folder:Fan Works]]
* The ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3354083/1/Unexpected_Results_I_A_Slight_Glitch Unexpected]] [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3563720/1/Unexpected_Results_II_In_All_the_Empty_Places Results]]'' series (a ''LightNovel/TrinityBlood'' fan fic) has Johanna Sinclair, a character with time manipulation abilities that can trigger what is referred to as 'temporal whiplash', with the effect varying according to the age of the victim. In the case of a human it'll have a similar effect to an electric shock and usually knocks them out. When used on a vampire the result is akin to a bomb going off and it is theorized that using it against anything older than a vampire (i.e. a Crusnik) would be like setting off a nuke. This puts her in the rather difficult position of being theoretically capable of taking out the BigBad but not without a hell of a lot of collateral damage.
* Shinji in ''FanFic/ShinjiAndWarhammer40K'', due in part to the [[LensmanArmsRace ever-increasing scale of the battles with the Angels]], usually ends up destroying much of Tokyo-3 in his efforts to save it, to his considerable chagrin. Other cities and nations like him, but don't want him visiting since they can't afford the repairs. It gets to the point that after a leave of absence, the fact that surprise reinforcements cause so much devastation tips off the defenders that he's returned. There's also a time when whatever ability lets him sync with an Eva get flipped inside out, briefly giving him the power to "crack the planet in half," but he spends a whole story arc trying to fix it.
* Thor, Loki and the Hulk all qualify as this in ''Fanfic/ChildOfTheStorm'', at their lowest - at their best, they're solidly in the PhysicalGod weightclass, while Tony is speculated (accurately, based on the Prometheus armour) to simply require the right armour to reach this level. Others mentioned include Magneto, the Juggernaut, the Abomination and Count Nefaria.
** And Wanda Maximoff, who seems to have a penchant for laser guided meteor strikes. And according to Fitzsimmons, she's done scarier things than that.
** If Harry Dresden wasn't already this, his [[spoiler: use of his Death Curse - he got better - to launch [[PhysicalGod Gravemoss]] well over five hundred miles from Paris to the North Sea]] would put him into this range.
** Harry and [[spoiler: Diana]] are [[PlotRelevantAgeUp briefly jacked up]] to this territory at the end of chapter 59. A blast from Harry, one he explicitly intended to be small, vaporised a supercharged werewolf capable of standing up to an [[PhysicalGod Asgardian]] and basically destroyed a mountain on the other side of the valley. A large blast is visible from space, is ''mistaken for a nuke'' by NASA and launches its target [[spoiler: a reverse engineered and remote controlled version of the Destroyer]] from the Rockies to a potato field seventy miles east of Moscow. And both the narration and WordOfGod have hinted that he was only scratching the surface...
*** Even more impressively, said target survives intact, and [[spoiler: Diana]] proves her credentials by ripping it in half with her bare hands.
*** By the sequel, ''Ghosts of the Past'', Harry's solidly into this territory. Jean Grey and [[spoiler: Maddie Pryor]], meanwhile, leave him in the dust.
*** The fic also deconstructs this trope, noting that being able to cause mass destruction is great if you're in the middle of nowhere and facing an equally powerful opponent who's coming at you head-on. If you're surrounded by civilians, faced with an enemy who has no problem taking hostages, and your usual MO is basically [[StuffBlowingUp "blow up everything in sight,]] [[NoKillLikeOverkill then blow up the rubble just to make sure,"]] then it's much more of a problem.
* Long Fen Zao in ''FanFic/TheOdyssey''. Otherwise known as the Last Shogun, survivor of no less than two apocalypses, tutor of the current Empress. The man is an ''essence ten'' Dragon-Blood, which in ''TabletopGame/{{Exalted}}'' terms means he's basically Armageddon on two legs.
* ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5165327/1/Deep_Sleep Deep Sleep]]'', a ''Series/{{Heroes}}'' [[DarkFic fanfic]], has Peter and Sylar battle ([[CoconutSuperpowers fully utilizing their powers]]) and inadvertently [[StoryBreakerPower shattering continents,]] leaving the west half of the Americas a smoking wasteland, [[AMillionIsAStatistic killing millions]], and bringing about a very BadFuture.
* [[SociopathicHero Mark Westion]] in ''Roleplay/YukariIsFree'' (an ''Manga/AzumangaDaioh'' [[MegaCrossover Mega-Crossover]]) possesses the power to fire giant lasers. At one point in the story, he fires one so big it accidentally destroys a planet. His girlfriend then hits him in the face with a baseball bat.
* Yachiru and [[spoiler:Hitsugaya]] in ''FanFic/UninvitedGuests''. Between the two of them, they [[spoiler:completely destroy Las Noches and defeat all espada in a couple of hours; though Hitsugaya was in berserk mode most of the time and Yachiru technically did it by accident. Or did she..?]]
* Paul in ''Fanfic/WithStringsAttached'', who could (if he wanted to, which he doesn't) either systematically and tirelessly dismantle everything in his path, or periodically reduce circular chunks of it to molten glass.
** Probably the others as well. John rejected many of the things the Kansael told him he can do and implied that he's unbeatable in the ocean; George at the very least could wreak havoc as a dragon; and Ringo apparently has a huge amount of power behind him that he's never tapped into. Luckily, they're [[ActualPacifist Actual Pacifists]], and besides, their experiences on Earth taught them what the ''really'' important things in life are, so it's easy for them to reject the seductive call of power. Which really isn't that seductive, given how much [[BlessedWithSuck Suck]] it came with.
* Atticus in ''Fanfic/ProjectChimeraTheAtticHypothesis'' can produce more energy than a lightning strike to an area the size of a dime in a fraction of a second at peak condition. And this is the stage of the story where he's a ''weakling''.
* In the WesternAnimation/{{Daria}} ExpandedUniverse series ''Legion of Lawndale Heroes'', persons who fit this trope are classified as 'Class Five' beings. These are the people who have powers that could outright flatten a city... for starters. [[LittleMissBadass Quinn Morgendorffer]] is a perfect example: [[LightningCanDoAnything with her electrical powers]], she once caused ''[[EarthShatteringKaboom a line of nuclear detonations.]]''
** Also, in the same ExpandedUniverse, the ''[[BadassArmy Corps of Ringbearers]]'' are the same. The [[SwissArmySuperpower Defender Rings]] are incredibly useful and dangerous - from creating a fluid that can dissolve anything not protected by a ForceField, to giving the user the ability to transmute materials into a set number of materials and will-based telekinesis... which one wearer used [[RememberWhenYouBlewUpASun to cause the core of a planet to achieve stellar ignition and become a short-lived star.]]
* Naruto is already a Person of Mass Destruction, but in ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4034451/1/The-Best-Laid-Plans The Best Laid Plans]]'', this gets taken to the extreme [[spoiler:by giving Naruto a ''nuclear'' rasengan]].
* The Kyuushingai in ''Fanfic/KitsuneNoKenFistOfTheFox'' are this, individually. Just one member alone is said to be able to [[OneManArmy take on a whole squadron of fighters]], while all nine together could conceivably destroy an entire city in less than an hour.
* Nearly every Anchor in ''Fanfic/TheInfiniteLoops'' is capable of this, as well as many older regular Loopers. How willing they are to actually use these abilities varies of course.
* While Naruto can certainly do this in ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/6701262/1/ True Warriors Never Die]]'' (having created a lake in Hueco Mundo when he and Harribel fought), Gaara reigns supreme. Apparently, several hundred years prior Barragan's forces pressed him hard enough that Gaara (who'd become an arrancar) was forced to use his Resureccion, which turned all of Hueco Mundo into the desert it is today.
* In ''Fanfic/HarryPotterAndTheMethodsOfRationality'', Minerva [=McGonagall=] [[spoiler:(and others, centaur prophets included)]] is firmly convinced that Harry is this, just because his ''modus operandi'' is absolutely insane in wizarding terms. To be fair, she's probably right, considering that within a few hours of getting introduced to Diagon Alley, he'd already figured out a way to break the wizarding economy in twain. This gets even worse later: [[spoiler: There turns out to be a prophecy that Potter will [[TheStarsAreGoingOut snuff out all the stars in the universe.]] ]]
* Oddly, ''Fanfic/RitesOfAscension'' has Celestia feeling this way; she actively avoids battles as she is a one trick pony in that regard. The one trick is called 'Sol Invictus', which is responsible for the formation of the Glass Desert. And the death of over one hundred thousand combatants. Notably, despite this, it's ''Luna'' who's more feared. Then again, Luna is able to leave survivors. [[spoiler:In fact, part of the political intrigue comes from Celestia not being able to put enough fear into some ponies as a royal force of nature.]]
* ''[[http://www.fimfiction.net/story/174671/seeking-power Seeking Power]]'', an AU work predating the first episode of ''MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'', features a treaty called the Alicorn Accord. The pertinent details are that Celestia isn't allowed to take the field of battle, but ancient dragons would be able to come to Equestria's aid should they be needed. Much to Twilight's annoyance, she was added to the list of 'ponies who count as war crimes should they show up at a battle'.
* In ''Fanfic/SavageSkies'', The Order of Celestial Knights were formed for this purpose. They represent Equestria's aim to be a stable nation without being a threat, capable of single handedly taking out an entire army while being unable to be used as an invasion force.
* ''Fanfic/{{The Games We Play|TheGamerRWBY}}'': Bianca can blow up buildings even with portals only the size of a finger. If she ever cut loose, she could easily level a city. By the time of the Arc family spar, Jaune can call down city-wrecking earthquakes and tsunamis.
* ''Fanfic/TheDarkSideOfTheMirrorVerse'':
** Mirror Celestia and Luna were this before their HeelFaceTurn, as Equestria (as in the comics) is currently suffering a famine and drought due to the amount of destruction they've caused and ''all'' the Pegasi Cities were destroyed by them.
** [[spoiler:Mirror Twilight]] becomes this after [[spoiler:becoming [[SuperpoweredEvilSide becoming Nightmare Spotlight]]. She's capable of tearing a large part of Canterlot out of the ground by sheer power alone.]]
* ''Fanfic/AdviceAndTrust'': Shinji, Asuka and Rei are capable of massive property damage or even ending humanity (and Rei not even needs a giant robot to achieve that). Sometimes Asuka states that they're the most dangerous people in the world.
* In ''Fanfic/ThousandShinji'', [[PsychoElectro Shinji]], [[SuperSoldier Asuka]] and [[{{Plaguemaster}} Rei]] gain powers while their bodies evolve to fight their enemies. Before the end of the story they're capable to level whole cities or even exterminate the human race.
* In ''Fanfic/ChildrenOfAnElderGod'', Shinji, Asuka and Rei –and to a lesser extent, Touji and Hikari- pilot HumongousMecha and wield powers stolen from {{Eldritch Abomination}}s. “Mass Destruction” doesn’t even come close to describe the kind of devastation that they can cause.
* ''Fanfic/TheSecondTry'': Shinji wiped out all of humanity and almost annihilated it a second time. Asuka can crush an army single-handedly and easily. And Rei is an alien goddess.
* Any of the main characters in ''Fanfic/NeonGenesisEvangelionGenocide'' is perfectly able of leveling cities –or worse- using their giant mechas.
* In ''Fanfic/LastChildOfKrypton'', Shinji and [[spoiler:Asuka]] are massively powerful super-heroes. They're capable of picking up Mount Everest with their bare hands and putting it in the Gobi Desert.
* In ''Fanfic/OnceMoreWithFeeling'', Misato nicknamed Shinji “Godzilla” after he destroyed half city in a simulated battle.
* In the crossover ''Fanfic/SOE2LoneHeirOfKrypton'', Asuka is Kryptonian. Ergo, she's the most powerful woman in the world. She can very easily level whole cities. At one point she lifted a skyscraper and dropped it on the head of a giant EldritchAbomination.
** The other ''Fanfic/SuperwomenOfEva'' are no different at all. Misato as the Hulk is treated as a weapon of mass destruction waiting to go off if someone looks at her funny, and even a BadassNormal like Batgirl is seen as a harbinger of doom by Japan's criminal underground [[spoiler:of which Gendo is boss.]]
* The trope's name is called directly by General Ross in ''Fanfic/TheLastSon'', when referring to Superman managing to subdue the Hulk in a physical fight.
* ''Fanfic/TheGodSquad'' itself, when they truly apply themselves, are almost all pretty much this. Special mention to Lord Tydal, who not only managed to take out 4 different armies but also faced off with Person Of Mass Destruction himself Tirek when he was at full strength; Tirek admits that had Tydal been willing to use his full power he could have easily defeated him... but doing so would have destroyed the planet, if not the solar system, due to just how much magic Tydal is forced to keep locked away.
* ''ComicBook/{{Supergirl}}'' fanfic ''Fanfic/HellsisterTrilogy'' offers many examples from the main character to baddies such like Mordru or Darkseid, but Berserker, the son of Supergirl's evil doppelganger Satan Girl and Mordru stands out. As powerful as a Pre-Crisis Kryptonian, plus vast magic powers ''plus'' fighting training supplied by Darkseid.
-->A 3-dimensional hologram sprang into being just over their heads. It picked out a portion of the Milky Way Galaxy, then drew in on several planets in distant but related solar systems. From each planet, in turn, images of carnage, wreckage, destruction emerged. Kara and Dev gazed at them. True, they weren’t strangers to sights such as these. But, still...\\
From one, a moving image sprang forth. A rapidly-moving figure, tearing through the machinery and soldiers of a well-equipped army. Just one man against a horde, and within minutes, that man had won.
* In ''Fanfic/NeitherABirdNorAPlaneItsDeku'', numerous powerful Heroes, such as All Might and Firestorm, can accomplish feats like changing the weather with a punch or turning all of Mt. Fuji into a pillar of salt. Izuku, a [[FlyingBrick Kryptonian]], ''isn't'' this during the story, but it's his fear of becoming one that contributes to his refusal to become a Hero at the story's outset.

* PersonOfMassDestruction/ComicBooks

[[folder:Comic Books]]
* ''ComicBook/ADistantSoil'' has Seren, Liana, and Jason.
* The original 1940s ''All-Star Comics'' had a story where the ComicBook/JusticeSocietyOfAmerica started fighting in the war, logical issues aside. This was {{retcon}}ned to be [[AllJustADream a hallucination]] to which they were subjected when captured by psychic supervillain Brain Wave. GreenLantern was shown horrified at the destruction he had caused in order to defeat the Japanese, uttering the line "I have become death, destroyer of worlds," a quote known for its use by Robert Oppenheimer (originally quoted[[hottip:*: It's often said "incorrectly" since it doesn't appear exactly that way in any English translation; but it's a perfectly legitimate translation modulo a bit of poetic license. It doesn't appear in any published translation because he had been reading it in the original Sanskrit, and translated that passage on the fly.]] from the Bhagavad Gita) after the first deployment of the atom bomb.
** This was taken further in the {{Elseworld}} story ''ComicBook/TheGoldenAge'', in which Franchise/GreenLantern witnesses the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and, realizing that his power is on par with the atom bomb, puts his ring away and retires in the belief that no human deserves to wield such power. His reluctant return at the end of the story to combat the archvillain is his moment, and one of the few times in or out of continuity we truly see how much Alan Scott means to Franchise/TheDCU.
* ''ComicBook/TheAvengers'':
** Jack of Hearts is sometimes considered this, DependingOnTheWriter. His powers came from every cell of his body being infused with an experimental power substance called "Zero fluid." Without his suit, designed to channel and control the energy he generates, he would effectively turn into a small sun (he has been {{retcon}}ned enough that this is probably no longer canon).
** Sersi of ComicBook/TheEternals rivals Jack and the Hulk as the most powerful member the Avengers have ever had. During the CrisisCrossover story ''ComicBook/BloodTies'' her fight with ComicBook/{{Magneto}}'s heir and fellow [=PoMD=] Exodus was so intense that the other Avengers made Sersi stand down lest the fight between them destroy the island nation of Genosha and everyone on it.
* One Post Crisis Franchise/{{Batman}} comic had a one shot TragicMonster appropriately named "Bomb" who had the power to create small explosions at will from an unknown distance and was unstable, thus if jarred would involuntarily explode with the force of 3 or 4 thermonuclear warheads. The "tragic" part comes from Bomb just being a gentle young woman who has powers she can't control.
* There was a notable story where ComicBook/BatMite and Mxyzptlk fought, which destroyed the entire Multiverse. There was even a scene where ComicBook/{{Darkseid}} "found" a paper with the Anti-Life Equation on it that simply said: "Bat-Mite + Mr. Mxyzptlk = Anti-Life". Darkseid promptly laughed himself to death.
* ComicBook/BlackAdam, when pissed off, is quite literally a one-man war. He managed to get a good portion of Franchise/TheDCU united against him just to stop him. In the process of his RoaringRampageOfRevenge, he annihilated ''an entire fucking country''. He also managed to hold off the JLA, the JSA, the Teen Titans, and the Great Ten all at once, not to mention single-handedly killing off the {{Eldritch Abomination}}s that were sent to kill him in the first place.
* ComicBook/BlackBolt of ComicBook/TheInhumans is a cosmic-level case of AsskickingEqualsAuthority, as he is their king by virtue of having a voice so powerful that even just a small whisper from him can kill. A shout can awaken volcanoes and cause earthquakes on the ''other'' side of the planet. His birth cries devastated a city. He fears his own powers so much that he's taken a lifelong vow of silence...but when he declares war, he ''really declares "War."''
** In the ''ComicBook/WarOfKings'' storyline he and the Inhumans do go to war against the Shi'ar and their emperor Vulcan (aka [[spoiler:Gabriel Summers]]), who is also a Person Of Mass Destruction and AxCrazy to boot. What happens when two of these forces collide? [[spoiler:Both are apparently dead by the end of the story.]]
** As of recent issues, [[spoiler:Black Bolt has come back while Vulcan is still MIA.]]
* In ''ComicBook/BlackSummer'', the Seven Guns fit the bill, to varying extents. They're all more or less beyond conventional military forces, and the main antagonist, [[spoiler: John Horus, survives a nuclear missile attack]].
* In the 2006 ''ComicBook/BlueBeetle'' series, the scarab grafted onto Jaime Reyes's spine has an arsenal that includes everything from nukes to a BFG that has "potential theological implications." It's likely only by the virtue of Jaime being IncorruptiblePurePureness that the world isn't already a burnt cinder.
** Unfortunately, the scarab is one of many, seeded throughout the universe to aid their masters, the Reach, in conquering or destroying planets - and on most of those worlds, they easily managed to overwhelm their hosts. Jaime managed to escape that fate because his scarab was malfunctioning, but it's still dangerous, even so.
* As the inspiration for the much more well-known Dr. Manhattan, it should come as no surprise that ComicBook/CaptainAtom is one of these. He's an EnergyBeing like the good doc, but unlike Manhattan is prone to PowerIncontinence whenever he absorbs too much energy.
** ''ComicBook/KingdomCome'' provides the most infamous example of Cap's Power Incontinence, as having his armor blasted off by the Parasite caused him to self-detonate, releasing enough radioactive fallout to sterilize several Midwestern states.
** Monarch is effectively Captain Atom's SuperpoweredEvilSide, amped up by a factor of 50. When Superman-Prime ripped open his armor, it annihilated a ''universe''.
* Marvel's ''Comicbook/CivilWar'' was kicked off when Nitro, previously a C-List villain whose power was to "explode", detonated with the force of a low yield nuke. This levelled a small town and brought the attention and ire of the general public down on the heads of superheroes everywhere. (Amazingly enough, at no point in the ''Civil War'' storyline did anyone ever utter the line "It's all Nitro's fault", unless you count the ComicBook/{{Wolverine}} ''Civil War'' tie-in dedicated to him trying to hunt down Nitro. Which revealed that the reason Nitro was able to cause so much damage is that he was using "[[FantasticDrug Mutant Growth Hormone]]", the superpower equivalent to steroids.
* ''ComicBook/FantasticFour'': Little Franklin Richards, the son of title heroes Reed and Sue Richards, is one of the most classical examples of this in the Marvel Universe. At his full potential he is easily one of the most powerful beings in the universe, with RealityWarper power on a scale wider than ''any'' [[ComicBook/XMen Phoenix]] host. A psychic PowerLimiter was placed on him to keep him from, well, rewriting reality in his sleep, so at any given point he has PsychicPowers that vary in scope depending on the era (or alternate future version.) Without it, he's created entire realities. ''Every'' other Marvel character on this list takes this kid ''very'' seriously. And unsurprisingly, ComicBook/DoctorDoom has more than once tried to make a {{Tykebomb}} out of Franklin.
* ''ComicBook/{{Flare}}'' stories, online since the fourth quarter of 2007, feature Marian Press, a literal "Blonde Bombshell".
* As a [[AlternateCompanyEquivalent DC Comics pastiche]] of the Hulk mentioned directly below, Goraiko also counts as one of these. To further hammer this home he is of Japanese origin and even has an attack shaped like a mushroom cloud.
* The Comicbook/IncredibleHulk is one of the earliest examples. Like Franchise/{{Godzilla}}, he was [[ILoveNuclearPower created by a bomb]], and some adaptations literally compare him to the atomic weapon that spawned him; for example, the shockwaves he creates from smashing things are compared to the blast wave of a nuke. Later on this tendency was dropped, but the Hulk remained as one of these since his power increases the angrier he gets and he doesn't seem to have an upper limit. He may already qualify during normal, building-demolishing rampages but it's completely inarguable during moments like ''ComicBook/WorldWarHulk'' when he gets so unfathomably enraged just walking caused ''measurable tectonic shifts'' at every step. They were calling him the Worldbreaker for a reason.
* ''ComicBook/{{Invincible}}'': Viltrumites are an army of conquering {{Flying Brick}}s. While they'd need to personally tear people, tanks, buildings and other viltrumites apart with their bare hands one by one, they are fast enough it wouldn't take them long, and durable enough that only the latter has any chance of stopping one.
* The Plutonian in ''ComicBook/{{Irredeemable}}''. Max Damage compared Tony's city-wrecking rampage to the wrath of God; he annihilates Singapore and burns a path of destruction across the entire North American continent. Later in the series, as the Plutonian "evolves" to become even more powerful, he gains the ability to cause nuclear explosions with a snap of his fingers.
* Franchise/JusticeLeagueOfAmerica and ComicBook/MartianManhunter villain Despero has become a walking engine of psychokinetic destruction following his various rebirths and power-ups. It regularly takes multiple teams to even ''slow'' him. Sending a single team after him is downright suicidal.
** According to a dossier Lobo was given on him, he has personally killed approximately 5.6 billion individuals on various planets.
* ComicBook/TheMightyThor is routinely depicted as Marvel's answer to DC's Superman, a godlike being with an immense array of physical powers. Add to that the fact that Thor actually '''is''' a god, with his birthright being control of weather conditions on a planetary scale, nearly unlimited physical strength enabling him to lift skyscrapers, level mountains and cause earthquakes, and vast energy projection and manipulation abilities afforded him by his hammer Mjolnir, you understand why criminals, super-criminals, other gods and even cosmic entities like ComicBook/{{Galactus}} afford him varying degrees of fear and respect. And this is ''without'' Thor claiming his father's "Odinpower".
* Creator/AlanMoore takes this concept to it's logical and terrifying conclusion in the climax of his ''ComicBook/{{Miracleman}}'' storyline with Johnny, Kid Miracleman, Bates killing London. Not destroying, mind you. '''Killing'''. As in murdering every individual in the London metro area in original and sadistic ways.
%% * The alien robot ComicBook/{{Neutro}}.
* In Marvel Comics' ComicBook/TheNewUniverse, Ken Connell, the Starbrand, discovers his POMD potential when he accidentally annihilates the city of Pittsburgh by trying to transfer the Starbrand to an inanimate object ten miles in the air over the city.
* Creator/JackKirby's ''ComicBook/{{OMAC}}'' ([[FunWithAcronyms literally]] [[OneManArmy One Man Army Corps]]) hits this when boosted by the power of Brother Eye. Without it, he can casually defeat armies numbering in the hundreds of thousands; with it, he gains [[StrongAsTheyNeedToBe the power necessary to deal with the situation]], which can often be a pretty big one.
--> '''OMAC:''' I'm OMAC! Evacuate this section! I'M GOING TO DESTROY IT!
* ''ComicBook/PaperinikNewAdventures'' examples:
** Xadhoom can, and has, destroyed entire planets and wiped out immense warfleets. Thankfully, she's only after the [[HordeOfAlienLocusts Evronians]] for destroying her homeworld...
** Moldrock turns his homeworld Corona from a desert to a garden world, trap Duckburg under an impenetrable energy barrier, [[spoiler:single-handledly defeats the combined armies of Corona and destroys one artificial moon just because he can, using his black ray.]] His powers are so vast that [[spoiler: he is a key component of the massive "Ultima" space station, capable of opening a door to the Multiverse.]]
** The Rettificators appear to be in Xadhoom's league, as shown when three of them [[spoiler:took on an Evronian PlanetSpaceship, its escorts and an opposing fleet that was matching them]] and ''won with ease'', the only survivors being [[spoiler:the few dozen Evronians that survived their initial assault on the worldship and ''ran'' and a group of En'tomek that had boarded it before the Rettificators showed up]].
* Starfire from ''ComicBook/RedHoodAndTheOutlaws'', some people are even worried that she may be a radioactive hazard.[[spoiler: Made scarier when something designed to drain her powers fails to do so!]]
** She destroyed a group of tanks without even appearing to be winded and then casually asked Jason if there was anything else she could do for him.
** While she doesn't appear in ''Red Hood and the Outlaws'', Starfire's [[CainAndAbel evil sister]] Blackfire has also reached these levels. Luckily for the universe her last appearance in ''R.E.B.E.L.S.'' saw her reforming into ALighterShadeOfBlack thanks to the influence of her new lover, [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Vril Dox]].
* Max, from ''ComicBook/SamAndMax'', has been called the most violent force in the universe by the Season 1 BigBad.
* Since her transition from character to walking PlotDevice, the ComicBook/ScarletWitch has become one of these. The ''ComicBook/HouseOfM'' storyline infamously changed her powers from simple [[WindsOfDestinyChange probability manipulation]] to RealityWarper power on a scale that would make Franklin Richards above blush, and all to fulfill the latest ExecutiveMeddling demands to kill off mutants (resulting in the mutant population being reduced to "The 198", which was eventually undone). Despite not being used for such heavy-handed meddling since then, Wanda's extreme power has hung over her head like a Sword of Damocles, and more tragically over the head of one of her children.
** The Avengers are worried that her son, [[ComicBook/YoungAvengers Wiccan]], who the Avengers might follow in her footsteps. The worst he's done is put a few baddies into temporary comas, but that was enough to make them uneasy. Of course, part of the reason they're uneasy about it is because he ''didn't mean to do it''. He took out twenty guys, all armed with guns and nukes, as a ''knee-jerk reaction'' to his boyfriend being in danger. He wasn't even aware of what he'd done until afterwards. And then it turns out that he's [[spoiler:the [[PhysicalGod Demiurge]], who, at his peak, is capable of stepping outside of the multiverse and rearranging it to his liking]]. On top of ''that''...
-->'''Loki:''' You're a [[spoiler:singular multidimensional messiah]]. You're going to [[spoiler:rewrite the rules of magic and all the implications of that decision are going to echo forward and backward across all realities]]. [[BlatantLies It's no biggie]].
--->[[[{{Beat}} beat]]]
-->'''Billy:''' '''''[[BigWhat WHAT?]]'''''
* ComicBook/SolarManOfTheAtom in both the Creator/ValiantComics and Creator/DarkHorseComics versions.
* In ''ComicBook/SonicTheComic'', Super Sonic is known to be able to create blasts with the power of the sun. He is also mentioned to be able to destroy planets and also takes little physical damage.
* ComicBook/TheSpectre. The Wrath of God, Old Testament-style. Destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. Annihilated an entire country. And sank modern-day Atlantis.
** But arguably, not a person but a force... he traditionally becomes ''less'' dangerous when he inhabits a human host. If you manage to push that human to the breaking point, however, the Spectre starts getting Biblical again.
* ''Comicbook/{{Supergirl}}'':
** Kara shares her cousin's strength and destructive capabilities, thanks to the vast and numerous powers Kryptonians manifest under Earth's yellow sun.
** In addition to them, she got a [[Franchise/GreenLantern Red Lantern Ring]] during the ''Comicbook/RedDaughterOfKrypton'' story arc, becoming one of the most dangerous things in the ''universe''.
--->'''Shay Veritas:''' How'd she get a Red Lantern Ring? [...] A Kryptonian wearing one of those is an extinction level threat—!
** In ''Comicbook/DemonSpawn'', villain sorceress Nightflame smashes a car, wrecks a street, and blows up and burns down several buildings in only two pages.
** In ''ComicBook/{{Bizarrogirl}}'' Bizarrogirl tears an area of Metropolis down. ComicBook/JimmyOlsen deems it as a "Doomsday-level" kind of damage.
* Most of the superhumans from ComicBook/{{Supergod}} count as this. Krishna was able to kill over a billion people in a few short days using his nanotechnology, and easily reversed a massive nuclear attack from Pakistan (destroying Pakistan in the process). Jerry Craven is a "walking atomic bulldozer" that is dropped from a plane like a bomb; the impacts of his punches cause shockwaves that are lethal to any human within a mile. Maitreya was able to [[spoiler:gruesomely convert a large part of the population of China and India into a giant Cthulhu monster]]. Malak is able to project a field around himself that disintegrates all it touches. This last one is illustrated quite poignantly when Krishna [[spoiler:launches him into the Moon and he cuts a hole clean through and out the other side.]]
** The supergod Dajjal's only attack seems to be suicidally detonating himself – but the blast is sufficient to destroy most of Asia.
* ''Franchise/{{Superman}}''. While ''exactly'' how powerful he is varies DependingOnTheWriter, he fits this trope in every incarnation since [[UsefulNotes/TheGoldenAgeOfComicBooks the original]].
** The Silver Age version of Superman took this to the extreme, being capable of destroying entire solar systems by sneezing (no, that is NotHyperbole).
** Even the ''less'' powerful Post-Crisis Superman has been shown to be capable of imparting an ''infinite'' amount of damage to an opponent and causing nuclear winter by falling from a sufficient height - ''and surviving''.
** In ''ComicBook/BatmanTheDarkKnightReturns'', "Ronnie" tells the American people not to worry about rising tensions with the Soviet Union because God is on their side, or (wink) the next best thing anyhow.
** At the end of ''ComicBook/KingdomCome'', [[spoiler:Superman is one of the few survivors of an atomic bomb that takes out a good chunk of the DCU's superhero population. He then sets off towards the UN, [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge fully aware that they're the ones who called in the strike on him]]. The UN's collective reaction: [[OhCrap "Oh,]] ''[[PrecisionFStrike fuck]]''."]]
** In ''Comicbook/WarWorld'', Superman and Supergirl face up to a star-sized satellite armed with weapons capable of blowing up entire solar systems. Kara breaks it down by colliding with it at incalculable speed, and Kal detonates it.
** ''Comicbook/KryptoniteNevermore'': In the last issue Superman sees a vision in where he and the Sandman Superman destroy the Earth during a fight. It freaks him out to the point he no longer wants to get his full power back.
** As the monster responsible for ComicBook/TheDeathOfSuperman, it should come as no surprise that Doomsday is one of these. It's [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast all there in the name]] really: Doomsday's basically on a mission to wipe out literally every other living thing in universe with his bare hands and is just about capable of pulling it off. And sometimes his hands aren't even required: "Adult" Doomsday possesses [[InstantDeathRadius a deadly aura]]; he once killed over a million animals and made wildebeests an endangered species in the span of twenty minutes simply by walking past them.
* In ''ComicBook/SupremePower'', Marvel's AlternateCompanyEquivalent and {{Deconstruction}} of the ComicBook/JusticeLeagueOfAmerica, when Mark Milton aka Hyperion (SupermanSubstitute) learns that his whole life has been controlled by the United States government, the head of the project discusses what an angry high-powered FlyingBrick could do. To adequately describe the casualty rate that Mark can inflict from THE ATTACK ALONE (not factoring in all the deaths from various infrastructure failures that result from the attack and cut-off supply lines making aid impossible) one researcher uses the term "Mega-deaths". At one point, he is traced by the Richter Scale vibrations he causes with his attacks! They are very graphic in the images as well.
* [[Franchise/{{Transformers}} The Decepticons]] in ComicBook/TheTransformersIDW continuity have specialized soldiers called "Phase-Sixers", tasked with razing entire planets to the ground ''by themselves.'' Their ranks consist of Sixshot, Black Shadow, and Overlord. [[spoiler: At least until Overlord decided to go rogue.]]
** For a little perspective, Overlord only considered calling for support when faced with the combined forces of ''an entire stellar empire''.
* The "battleship"-class superhumans from ''ComicBook/{{Uber}}'' are basically walking, reusable nukes. Battleship Siegfried wipes out an entire Soviet army by ''looking'' at it, while Battleship Sieglinde casually reduces central Paris to smoking rubble.
* The concept is explored in many titles of the ComicBook/UltimateMarvel universe, which place a greater emphasis to the reactions of common people to the people with superpowers than in the main continuity. Captain America, the first man with super powers, was already considered as such back in WWII, as he could turn the tide of a battle by taking action in it. Roosevelt himself appears in ''ComicBook/UltimateOrigins'', mentions the recently created atomic bomb, and clearly states that they hold on the GodzillaThreshold as long as Cap can fight, because he's a less destructive option. The trope was deconstructed in ''ComicBook/TheUltimates'' 2, that mirrored the existence of super heroes with the real-world weapons of mass destruction (and note that it was written during the War on Terror). The US used their own superheroes to enforce the American interests and police international threats, Europe develops their own ones, and third world countries organize their own team to take the fight to the US itself. Even better, BothSidesHaveAPoint, the narrative itself does not take sides, and both a US conservative and an anti-imperialism leftwing can feel identified with some characters and their actions.
* Doctor Manhattan of ''Comicbook/{{Watchmen}}'' was turned from a mild-mannered nuclear physicist into a [[AGodAmI God-like immortal being]] thanks to a bizarre quantum-science accident. He can control, reshape and disintegrate atomic structure on a massive scale just by thinking about it. In the series' continuity he has tipped the balance of power between the United States and the Soviet Union by his mere existence: In the event of World War III, he could theoretically destroy large areas of Soviet territory instantaneously, and intercept at least 60% of the missiles launched at the U.S. before they reached their targets. In other words, he is a walking nuclear deterrent. Only two months after he arrived in Vietnam, he had single-handedly turned the tide of the war, to the point where the North Vietnamese were expected to surrender within the week.
* The ''Creator/{{Wildstorm}}'' universe actually uses the trope name as one of several [[DifferentlyPoweredIndividual generic terms for superhumans]] -- and with ''ComicBook/TheAuthority'' around, who can blame them?
** ComicBook/TheAuthority is, after all, a team where one single member freezes a whole country (on a different world, mind you) in time for a second, effectively teleporting the entire landmass and everyone and everything on it into space. Then they go [[spoiler:kill the thing that accidentally put life on Earth in the first place, and is almost as big as the planet itself.]]
** Jack Hawksmoor even [[LampshadeHanging lampshades]] this at one point, telling the President of the United States something to the point of: "We don't have weapons of mass destruction. We ARE weapons of mass destruction. Don't fuck with us."
** And later on, this is taken to its logical conclusion: [[spoiler:ComicBook/TheAuthority takes over the USA, forces what amounts to martial law. Then a rebellion made up of other People of Mass Destruction fought against their power.... and it ends up with Washington being nuked. [[OhCrap Oops]].]]
* ''ComicBook/XMen'':
** The most recent definition of an "[[RandomPowerRanking Omega]]" Mutant is any mutant that could potentially be a Person of Mass Destruction. ComicBook/{{Magneto}}, a mutant who can move entire cities with his mind, is considered one under this definition (despite traditionally being classified as an Alpha-Level mutant). The most commonly brought up example of this is Jean in Phoenix mode, so we're talking off the charts power. Expect widespread control of matter or natural forces down to the sub-atomic levels, full on RealityWarper status, a [[ComboPlatterPowers grab bag of powers that]] would make ComicBook/{{Superman}} jealous, or god help you, ''all of the above.'' However, [[HoldingBackThePhlebotinum for one reason or another]] few can use this power to its fullest whenever they want and with no drawbacks.
** At one point called the most powerful mutant on Earth, Exodus of Magneto's Acolytes certainly lives up to his claim of being Magneto's heir "in spirit and in power". As mentioned above, his fight with the Eternal Sersi in the ''Blood Ties'' crossover was so intense it threatened to destroy the entire island nation of Genosha, and later during the climax Exodus demonstrated he had the power to do that entirely on his own via encasing the island in a force field and then steadily compressing it. Due to being a KnightTemplar whose intentions are noble his power has not been showcased so heavily since then, but in the more recent 2012 story ''Lost Tribes'' it took two whole teams of X-Men to bring him down -- and he wasn't even fighting with all of his power!
** 90's favorite ComicBook/{{Gambit}} was actually one of these originally. It's implied at from the beginning -- his mutant power is having a version of TheMagicTouch that lets him convert anything he touches into an explosive. Something the size of a playing card becomes a handy grenade, and the bigger it is, the more bang it provides. It turns out he had brain surgery from Mister Sinister to ''tone his powers down'', and if he hadn't, he'd be an [[PhysicalGod Omega level mutant]]. We meet an alternate version of Gambit who never had the surgery. He calls himself New Sun. Because he lost control of his powers and ended up turning into an EnergyBeing, and, as an unintentional side effect, ''vaporizing the entire planet Earth in an instant''. Thanks to Sinister's surgery, though, Gambit has never reached these levels in the present day, nor will he likely ever now that his PopularityPower has waned.
** As mentioned directly above, ComicBook/JeanGrey is this in any incarnation when she takes on the codename Phoenix. In ''ComicBook/TheDarkPhoenixSaga'', Jean destroyed a star, snuffing out the billions of lives on an orbiting planet. In the end of that story, she realized [[WhatHaveIBecome what she would become]] and chose the more tragic option of committing suicide.
** "Here Comes Tomorrow", which ends with Jean being able to alter the Universe according to her desire, noting that this is "Phoenix Work", meaning it's something she'll be doing more than once.
** Even without the Phoenix, fully grown Jean fits into this category, with one alternate future incarnation being able to take on teen Jean, Emma Frost and all three of the Cuckoos at once, beating all but teen Jean. While Emma Frost is supposedly an Omega Class telepath, it is quite clear that Jean blows the scale.
** Jean's children by [[ComicBook/{{Cyclops}} Scott Summers]], [[ComicBook/RachelSummers Rachel]], [[ComicBook/XMan Nate]] and ComicBook/{{Cable}}, all qualify.
*** Rachel is, at base line, nearly omnipotent, with psychic powers on a cosmic scale, and the Phoenix is specifically noted as liking her.
*** Nate is arguably even stronger, having been created by Sinister as a LivingWeapon to kill Apocalypse and was estimated as being as powerful as Jean was as the Dark Phoenix at the age of seventeen, later being stated as capable of going toe to toe with the Sentry by Norman Osborn. At his peak, his telekinesis was so strong that it was described as [[RealityWarper 'reality warping']], he lived in mortal fear of accidentally rewriting reality in his sleep (and once, flattened Quito, Ecuador, from most of three thousand miles away, in his sleep) and he wandered in and out of the time stream and up and down the multiverse at will. Once he got his powers back [[spoiler: thanks to the Life Seed, which also gave them a boost]] in 2018's ''X-Men Disassembled'', he casually imprisoned Apocalypse, kept Magneto on a psychic leash, and effortlessly dismantled an entire team of X-Men including Jean, Psylocke, Storm, and Iceman. He later crushed Legion in psychic combat in five seconds flat, [[spoiler: then [[GrandTheftMe stole his body]]]], and it took an all out psychic attack from Jean, Psylocke, the Stepford Sisters, Sage, and No-Girl, combined with a colossal lightning bolt from Storm, just to [[spoiler: separate the two and]] ''stun'' him. He then carried on a conversation with Jean inside his head while all of the above, Magneto, and more or less every other member of the X-Men, and Apocalypse, hammered away at him, and was holding them all off.
*** Cable, meanwhile, is usually inhibited by the Techno-Organic virus. When he's not, he proved capable of holding up an island with his telekinesis while fighting the Silver Surfer. He lost, but only after giving a very good account of himself.
*** Basically, to avoid StoryBreakerPower, they each have a different version of HoldingBackThePhlebotinum. If Jean goes Phoenix she risks going Dark Phoenix. Cable's powers are constantly devoted to holding back his techno-organic affliction. X-Man's usually not in a sane enough mental state to wield them effectively. And ''all'' of the above are subject to overtaxing their powers and being unable to use them at that level again, or at all, for quite some time.
** As clones of the above-mentioned Jean Grey and Cable, Madelyne Pryor and Stryfe have both hit these levels. As the Goblyn Queen Maddie came perilously close to turning New York City into a literal hell on Earth during ''ComicBook/{{Inferno}}'', while Stryfe effortlessly thrashed ComicBook/{{Apocalypse}} and later laid waste to much of his own lunar base fighting Cable during the ''X-Cutioner's Song''. Interestingly, the two characters have since gone in completely opposite directions since -- Maddie has arguably just gotten '''stronger''' over the years, despite no longer being the Goblyn Queen, while Stryfe's [=PoMD=] status has degenerated to the point of Apocalypse pronouncing him an unworthy successor after an extremely one-sided rematch.
** Another surprising example from the X-Men comes in the form of ComicBook/{{Jubilee}}, back when she still had her original powers. On the surface, her fireworks seem [[WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway kind of useless]], but then you remember she's generating ''plasma''. Emma Frost once stated that should Jubilee exercise her powers to their fullest potential, she could detonate matter at the ''sub-atomic'' level, making Jubilee a ''walking fusion bomb''. It was only Jubilee's own fear of hurting someone that lead her to hold back and not utilize them to their full extent.
** Siena Blaze of the Upstarts was one of the most extreme yet briefly lived [=PoMDs=] ever seen in comics. A mutant whose power tore through the Earth's electromagnetic field with each use, Blaze's [[TeensAreMonsters reckless and anarchistic personality]] made her a dire potential threat to Earth, as well as a match for both Jubilee and Rachel mentioned above.

[[folder:Anime & Manga]]
* From what we've seen of their abilities in ''Manga/AhMyGoddess'', any First Class Goddess or Demon can probably qualify, especially without their limiters. Furthermore, anyone who obtains a wish can potentially ask for the destruction of the world.
* One of the best-known examples is the eponymous ''Manga/{{Akira}}'' and his fellow Numbers, complete with an opening scene of [[TheTokyoFireball a mushroom cloud destroying Tokyo]]. And that's just in the first thirty seconds. The ultimate example is probably Akira's successor, [[MindOverMatter Tetsuo]], proving that the Japanese government didn't learn a thing the first time around.
* ''Anime/AquarionLogos'': The titular mecha can destroy all of reality with its heroic counterpart able to literally punch a reality eating black hole monster to death.
* The Colossal Titan and Armored Titan, from ''Manga/AttackOnTitan'', are the most dangerous beings ever known and the greatest threat to humanity's survival. Their appearance ended a century of peace and safety, effortlessly destroying the gates of Wall Maria. Over the next year, a combination of [[EatenAlive Titan attacks]], starvation, and a government-mandated culling resulted in 260,000 people dying. Then it's revealed that [[spoiler:they are actually humans with a LovecraftianSuperpower and were [[ChildSoldiers 11 and 12]] years old]], respectively, when they wiped out ''20%'' of the human population.
** This applies to all the [[spoiler:Titan shifters]], especially those that [[spoiler:fight on the front lines of wars that the Kingdom of Marley are involved in]].
** [[spoiler:Eren is ultimately revealed to have the most destructive potential of any Titan shifter, since his Coordinate ability can be used to unleash the hundreds of dormant Colossal Titans which make up the walls. The fact that he therefore has the power to destroy the world at will is what allows Marley to mount such an effective propaganda campaign against the Paradis Eldians.]]
* ''Manga/BakiTheGrappler'' has multiple people considered this through ''sheer [[CharlesAtlasSuperPower martial arts ability]]''. Most notably is Hanma Yujiro who has been named "the one and only Brute Strength Country", with the USA having made a pact of amity to him. Through Barack Obama.
* ''Anime/{{Beyblade}}'' 's third season G-Rev arc involves [[BigBad Boris]] happily assuming his new Person of Mass Destruction Brooklyn is going to help him TakeOverTheWorld. Unfortunately for everyone, Brooklyn turns out to be AxCrazy and far more interested in [[EarthShatteringKaboom destroying everything]] than following the EvilPlan.
* ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'':
** All Shinigami Captains and Lieutenants are required to have 80% of their power sealed away when travelling to the World of the Living and must receive special permission to release this limiter. If they don't, their very presence alone can warp the souls of the humans around them. During the battle for Karakura Town, Shinigami scientists had to find a way to teleport the whole town into another dimension just to allow the captains and lieutenants to fight to protect it. Otherwise, the Shinigami would have destroyed what they were trying to save. It still almost failed: when one of the boundary pillars collapsed, the real and fake towns began to merge and the destruction Komamura caused affected the real town as badly as the fake town.
** Yamamoto is far and away the most powerful Shinigami in the Gotei 13. His Shikai alone is enough to wipe out an area many times larger than Karakura Town and even other captain-class characters either have to gang up to fight him or have to use well-prepared strategy to limit his power before they fight him. [[spoiler: His Bankai turns out to be ThePowerOfTheSun, a power that cannot be activated freely as the very act of being in use will destroy Seireitei ''by accident'' if used for too long.]]
** The Stern Ritters are extraordinarily powerful individuals, capable of curb-stomping even captains without having to stretch themselves into using the full might of their own power. As Quincies, they've been at war with the Shinigami for a thousand years, but have become particularly aggressive since the Shinigami instigated ThePurge against them 200 years ago. [[spoiler: In less than ten minutes, 16 Stern Ritters cause just under 3,000 casualties in the 6,000 strong Gotei 13, steal five bankais, obliterate Seireitei, and lose only five Stern Ritter in the process.]]
** Yhwach, leader of the Vandenreich, is the Quincy equivalent of Yamamoto. The Shinigami[=/=]Quincy war appears to have begun with a conflict between Yhwach and Yamamoto and escalated. Yhwach is far beyond the power level of even his Stern Ritters. [[spoiler: When he and Yamamoto clash a thousand years after their grudge first began, Yhwach steals Yamamoto's bankai and [[ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill obliterates]] him, meaning that not only does Yhwach have his own power, [[OhCrap he now has Yamamoto's power, too.]]]]
** Thanks to his very colorful heritage, Ichigo is much more powerful than most characters in this manga and the factions in the story work constantly to either use him on their side or neutralize him. His power has been vulnerable to his resolve in the past, lampshaded late in the manga when he irritably observes to an enemy that he's getting fed up of villains thinking that the way to defeat him is by shaking his resolve. [[spoiler: It's revealed in the final arc, his own power has been working against him, too: what he thought was his Shinigami power was actually his Quincy power suppressing his Shinigami power and only allowing the Shinigami to manifest in drips. In other words, he's much more powerful than even previous arcs depicted him as.]]
* In ''Manga/Brave10'', Isanami's [[PowerOfTheVoid darkness power]] is extensive and none-too-choosy about the victims in its radius.
* Victor of ''Manga/BusouRenkin'' is significantly smaller in radius than most Persons of Mass Destruction, but more deadly: thanks to his [[PowerIncontinence always-on energy absorption powers]], he would likely kill every human being within a kilometer or two if he stayed in one place for more than an hour. [[spoiler:Main character Kazuki is immune, but only because he's turning into a Victor-alike himself.]]
* ''LightNovel/ACertainMagicalIndex'': Too many to list, but let's specify the notable ones:
** Index herself. She has a library of 103,000 magical texts in her brain and a photographic memory. Combine this with the ability to ''use'' that knowledge, and she could destroy the world. Subverted in that she doesn't know she can use magic, and [[RestrainingBolt her superiors want to keep it that way]].
** Every Level 5 Esper, almost by definition (more specifically, the requirement to be labeled Level 5 is the ability to [[OneManArmy destroy an army]]). At one point Accelerator is dropped off of a supersonic bomber as a back-up plan in case bombing with a laser/magma-like blade didn't work. And he doesn't disappoint.
** [[KungFuJesus The Saints]], as all of them can be considered equivalents to the level 5 espers, what with the ability to summon the calamity that destroyed Sodom and Gommorah and all. ''Especially'' so with Acqua of The Back.
** [[OurAngelsAreDifferent The Archangels]] can destroy the entire Earth with ''microscopic'' fractions of their power. [[spoiler:Fuse=Kazakiri by definition qualifies, as she is an artificial angel]].
** Any and ''all'' BigBad characters. Fiamma of The Right, the BigBad until volume 22, [[spoiler:can defeat the Archangels in one-on-one battle, and once fully powered he is stronger than ''{{God}}'']]. The BigBad character for the next 10 volumes, Othinus, [[spoiler:''can destroy the entire universe with a thought'']] once fully powered. The [[spoiler:True GREMLIN]] group, each of them being individually stronger than Othinus, more than qualifies. Aleister Crowley is even better, [[spoiler:seeing as he can one-shot Fiamma and take on the entire True GREMLIN group and ''survive'']].
* In ''Anime/DarkerThanBlack'' we have Havoc, whose powers consisted of spontaneously generating vacuums for [[ExplosiveDecompression explosive results]] and a [[PowerAtAPrice remuneration]] of [[EatsBabies drinking the blood of children]]. There was pretty much no way she ''couldn't'' use her powers to murder tons of people.
* The Wretched Egg/Red Man/[[spoiler:Shiro]] from ''Manga/DeadmanWonderland'' is this, managing to cause an earthquake powerful enough to destroy most of Tokyo. Also has the ability to massacre people with the wave of a hand.
* The Lunatic Magician from ''Manga/DeliciousInDungeon'' is a very powerful dark mage who has control over the titular dungeon, allowing her to shape it as she pleases. Bad news for anyone inside the dungeon at the time.
* ''LightNovel/TheDevilIsAPartTimer'': When he goes all out, [[{{Satan}} Sadao Maou]] is so overwhelmingly powerful that even something as simple as a punch can be seen from ''outer space''.
* Guilmon from ''Anime/DigimonTamers'', [[UnstoppableRage when you piss him off]] and [[DeadlyUpgrade unleash the Digital Hazard]], resulting in a creature that could ''destroy the world simply by existing''. Subverted in that he was accidentally created by someone who didn't want a weapon of mass destruction.
* ''Manga/DragonBall'':
** Goku's Oozaru transformation is a threat early on. He destroyed Pilaf's castle in minutes and was only stopped because his tail was removed. Jackie Chun prevents any further tranformations for years by using a [[KamehameHadoken Kamehameha]] to ''blow up the moon''. (Kami restores it later, after ensuring Goku's tail won't grow back again.)
*** As revealed in ''Z'', this was actually the point of Goku being there to begin with: Saiyans would send their young to worlds where they can use their Oozaru forms to exterminate the local populace. Particularly strong ones don't even need that, due to their sheer strength and invulnerability to conventional weapons.
** Later on, King Piccolo levels a city, and after that, Piccolo Jr. one-ups Tenshinhan from the previous tournament by not only destroying the ring, but leveling the entire island it was on.
** ''Anime/DragonBallZ'' ups the ante. Consider that the destruction of celestial bodies was a normal occurrence by the Saiyan Saga (Piccolo with the moon -- a second time; Vegeta with Planet Arlia), and that every heroic character becomes exponentially stronger after that... even [[TheWoobie Krillin]] could probably destroy a planet with a click of his fingers by the end of the Namek Saga, despite not even being a threat to Frieza-- which speaks volumes about just how powerful ''he'' is. Perfect Cell claimed to be able to destroy the entire solar system in a single blast with his energy, before Gohan stopped him.
** Then we get to the Buu Saga, by which time not only has every heroic character become so much stronger, Goku almost shakes the planet in two merely by TRANSFORMING into a Super Saiyan 3, and Buu begins to tear holes in the fabric of reality merely by screaming. We're introduced to Fat Buu, the weakest and most docile form of the BigBad, with a flashback in which he extinguishes an entire galaxy of its luminosity, meaning he destroyed ''millions'' of solar systems in his centuries-long rampage. This gets brought to its logical conclusion by Super Buu, Buu's strongest form, who after reaching the peak of his power can ''destroy the entire universe'' by causing dimensions to collapse on each other. Just by screaming.
** Then brought to its ''[[BeyondTheImpossible illogical]]'' conclusion by Super Vegetto, who fixes the universe and repairs the dimensional collapse... by punching Buu ''really'' hard.
** Broly takes it [[UpToEleven even further]], being capable of wiping out an entire ''galaxy''.
** By the time of ''[[Anime/DragonBallZBattleOfGods Battle of Gods]][=/=]Anime/DragonBallSuper'', era, Goku has reached [[PhysicalGod god-level strength]] and during his fight with Beerus, merely clashing of punches causes ripples through reality that shake up the '''entire universe''' and would've eventually '''destroy''' it. In addition, Beerus is shown to be capable of [[SneezeOfDoom destroying planets by sneezing]]. [[spoiler:Beerus' [[AlmightyJanitor servant/trainer Whis]] would be one as well, as he's stronger than Beerus and Goku ''combined'', but he also has far better control of his power and thus doesn't end up actually destroying anything.]]
** However the Universe 6 Saga reveals Zen'O (a.k.a. the [[GodEmperor Omni-King]]), the GuardianOfTheMultiverse, who trumps every character in the series. It's stated he's so powerful he's capable of one-shotting the entire [[TheMultiverse Multiverse]], consisting of twelve universes, if he wished. Whis reveals there used to be eighteen universes, before Zen'O destroyed six of them when he was upset. Fortunately he's a [[GodIsGood benevolent being]] who serves as an AllPowerfulBystander. [[spoiler: We finally get to see this at the end of the Future Trunks saga, with him obliterating the entire future timeline that was corrupted by Zamasu.]]
** Upon fusing with Goku Black -- [[spoiler:who is essentially his body-swapped future/alternate timeline self]] -- Zamasu could be considered one of these. Although he lost his immortality by doing so, his sheer power in one-on-one combat was potentially frightening. As well as besting Goku, Vegeta, ''Vegito'' and Trunks (that is, before any of them received outside help), he was still quite the threat even when he was on the ropes. [[spoiler: With his whole body destabilising due to Trunks' ''Spirit Sword'', Zamasu's last-ditch attack was to consume the (future) Earth's atmosphere and rain a civilisation-destroying airstrike on the entire planet. A barrier from the Supreme Kais was all that stopped the heroes from being flattened.]] ''Literally everything else on Earth'' - buildings, people and all - was destroyed. In the end, Goku called in Zen'O and had him [[spoiler: ''destroy the timeline'' so that he, Vegeta, Trunks and the rest could use the distraction to ride the time machine back to the present before it collapsed]] and erased them from existence.
* Ifurita of ''Anime/ElHazardTheMagnificentWorld'' is one. However, she's far more level headed and self-controlled than most examples.
* The diclonii from ''Manga/ElfenLied'' are a borderline example; through their spreading of TheVirus that propagate their species and their powerful psychic abilities, they're a very real danger for humanity (especially due to the {{masquerade}})... However, most are ''already'' shamelessly homicidal due to horrible abuse and maltreatment, and the GovernmentConspiracy treating the few diclonii they don't cull as lab rats do not improve matters.
** Lucy also gets steadily less borderline as time goes by in the manga, and eventually ''disappears'' by the end of it all, where her vectors become so numerous and massive, she can [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt wipe out all of humanity]] from a single location.
* In ''Manga/FairyTail'', generally, any remotely powerful wizards can cause unleash destruction upon entire towns with relative ease, but a few examples stand out:
** Gildarts wields the "Crash" magic, allowing him to destroy pretty much anything he touches. Unfortunately for the people of Magnolia town, he often lets his mind wander while walking, and fails to pay attention to things like walls, houses and buildings, thus leaving a trail of destruction behind him as he benignly plows through them. When the townspeople catch wind of his return, they hastily activate a mechanism that essentially ''changes the town's layout to give him a straight path to the guild.'' He also counts as a HandicappedBadass, due to having lost some of his limbs and a few internal organs to a black dragon that even he couldn't defeat.
** Zeref is an even better example; he's TheDreaded for a reason. Not only is he capable of [[WalkingWasteland Death Magic]] on a scale that turns an entire forest into desiccated, shriveled husks, but ''his'' Living Magic, which is used by other characters to basically create {{mooks}}, creates colossal, nigh-unstoppable {{Eldritch Abomination}}s that carve a path of destruction through the lands. And that's when he is ''holding back''. [[spoiler:He wishes he could take it all back, preferably [[DeathSeeker by dying]].]] At least until his disgust with the world becomes so great that [[spoiler:he wants to [[KillAllHumans wipe out humanity]]]], that is.
** The Spriggan Twelve, twelve extremely powerful magicians who serve Zeref directly, are all capable of different flavors of this trope as well. Special mention goes to Larcade, Irene and August, both of which can perfom spells that can affect ''entire continents'' with relatively little effort.
** Any and all dragons are generally beings of mass destruction, but Acnologia, [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast the Black Dragon of Apocalypse]] puts everything else in the series to shame. He singlehandedly ''kills'' every single other dragon in the series, and with a simple roar he can destroy entire islands with ease. When he actually ''uses'' magic, he can blast countries to nothingness. Even ''Zeref'' fears him. In a world empowered by magic, [[spoiler:he EATS magic, allowing him to practically destroy everyone and everything.]]
* ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'':
** Almost any and all State Alchemists. [[ColonelBadass Roy Mustang]] [[PlayingWithFire burns down whole city blocks by snapping his fingers]]. [[SociopathicSoldier Solf J. Kimblee]] [[HavingABlast blows up neighborhoods by clapping his hands]]. [[LargeHam Alex Louis Armstrong]] [[DishingOutDirt rearranges the earth's crust by punching it]]. [[BadassMustache Basque Grand]] [[WalkingArmoury transmutes entire buildings into weapons]]. [[ShellShockedVeteran Isaac [=McDougal=]]] [[AnIcePerson nearly buried Central City in a glacial layer of ice]]. It's worth noting that the Ishvalan civil war--which had been dragging on for seven years--ended within months of Order #3066 going out. What was the order? To [[HumanWeapon weaponize]] and send in the State Alchemists.
** [[BareFistedMonk Scar]] can deconstruct matter just by [[TouchOfDeath touching things]] with his [[RightHandOfDoom right hand.]] This includes [[YourHeadAsplode human brain]] [[CruelAndUnusualDeath tissue.]]
** [[BigBad Father]] takes the trope up to the next level; he is so powerful that he is able to [[spoiler: absorb what is basically {{GOD}}, and create a sun in the palm of his hand.]]
* Once the two sisters come together to form ''Anime/{{Genocyber}}'', ''nothing'' is left standing after their rampage.
* A running theme in ''LightNovel/HaruhiSuzumiya'' is keeping the title character from getting bored, since as an immature and easily-fed up RealityWarper, she has the potential to destroy the world as we know it (without consciously intending to) and remake it into something more entertaining. Several factions within the series make it their goal to prevent this, whereas others actually want it to happen.
* Ikaros, from ''Manga/HeavensLostProperty'', initially appears to be a simple, weak "Pet Class," but is actually the Uranus Queen, a extremely powerful Angeloid that possesses multiple weapons, such as [[spoiler:Artemis, a MacrossMissileMassacre/BeamSpam attack, Apollon, an energy bow with the power to destroy the entire nation of Japan at full power, and Hephaestus, a colossal space warship. Also, she is able to fly at Mach 22 and has an energy shield that can block her own Apollon]].
* The Tribe of Heroes in ''Anime/HeroicAge'' was a race composed entirely of BloodKnight {{Kaiju}} who nearly wiped themselves out in a massive civil war that obliterated entire ''star systems'' in the crossfire. As punishment, the Tribe of Gold (the gods of this particular fictional universe) sealed each of the five surviving members of the tribe into the bodies of members of other tribes. These individuals, called "Nodos", possess incredible powers (like super strength and the ability to survive in hard vacuum) even in their normal forms, and can also call upon the Heroes within them to transform into NighInvulnerable {{Kaiju}} capable of annihilating entire armadas without breaking a sweat.
* Shiba Tatsuya, from ''LightNovel/TheIrregularAtMagicHighSchool'', is able to use one of his powers to replicate the effects of a antimatter bomb at will. [[spoiler:It is a magic that can decompose matter into energy. It is directly decomposing matter down into energy and so there is no loss of energy on this reaction, so the energy released from one drop of water, a paltry 50 milligrams of matter, is equivalent to 1000 tons of TNT]].
* In ''LightNovel/IsItWrongToTryToPickUpGirlsInADungeon'', certain elves play this role as back-line mages; they can cast spells that can destroy a whole army of monsters in one go.
* Ariel, from ''LightNovel/IsThisAZombie'', is a teacher with hundreds of millions of students who sends one of them, Haruna, to pick up kyo-tofu for her in Ayumu's dimension. She initially shows a bubbly and upbeat personality toward everyone when she's speaking with others, but after Ayumu criticizes her for the first time for not helping in his battle with Kyoko sooner, she says that she is only interested in the kyo-tofu and her student, not saving his life, of which she shows no concern. She initially seems to be only a part of the comedy theme, and playfully teases some of the characters to remind them of her abilities of mass destruction for the first time by smiling and snapping her fingers, causing an inferno to engulf them for just a second. Later on, she demonstrates that she has near-infinite magical power that allows her to traverse dimensions and use her abilities anywhere she pleases, and in fact even rivals the main antagonist of the first season. The only reason she doesn't help more is apparently because she's just indifferent about anyone's well-being except her students.
* In ''LightNovel/IzureShinwaNoRagnarok'', humans possessed by gods waged war against each other and managed to destroy one third of Eurasia.
* This is what happens when a King's SwordOfDamocles falls in ''Anime/{{K}}''. To prevent the meltdown, they must have another King, or their second-in-command, slay them as it falls, before it hits the ground. If another King does it, then that King's sword will be in danger. Kings generally do have this power level even without their swords falling, but most of them can control it... and then, there's the Red King. It's implied that he's comfortable in the Blue King's prison because he can "get some sleep without worrying about burning everything around him to the ground."
* As a "Rynasapien", Kurau from ''Anime/KurauPhantomMemory'' can potentially wipe out entire populations. Her sense of morality prevents her from doing so, but unfortunately other Rynasapiens feel less restricted.
* ''LightNovel/KyouranKazokuNikki'' has Gouykouou, whose mere presence on Earth could make it violently explode if he doesn't actively suppress his power. Thankfully, he's the nicest guy anyone will ever meet.
* Ryner Lute of ''LightNovel/TheLegendOfTheLegendaryHeroes''. He has the power to blow people up, cause things to implode, and completely disintegrate things in a matter of seconds, simply by thinking about it. And yet, [[BullyingADragon people ''intentionally'' try to piss him off and provoke him]]. Real smart, huh?
* ''Franchise/LyricalNanoha''
** Hayate of ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers'' demonstrates personal offensive magic on the scale of a small nuclear device, complete with evacuation warnings and authorisation requirements to release her [[PowerLimiter limiters]] for combat. Due to [[UpgradeArtifact the way she received her magic]], "sub-nuclear explosion" is in fact the only way she can use it. Nanoha, Fate, Signum, and Vita qualify to a lesser extent, also requiring {{Power Limiter}}s. They are all treated with enormous amounts of respect.
** When [[spoiler:Caro]] was discovered by her village to be an insanely powerful dragon-summoner, she was shunned. Even some members of the TSAB suggested she would only be useful as a weapon. Fortunately for [[spoiler:Caro]] Fate intervened on her behalf.
** And Nanoha herself is not called [[FanNickname White Devil]] without reason. In doujinshi, especially, she ([[ArtifactOfDoom or her device]]) is very prone to unleashing destruction anywhere, anytime.
** There's also the kings of [[TheEmpire Ancient Belka]], who sacrificed their bodies to become living weapons of mass destruction [[WarriorPrince that could lead their people to war as symbols of power]]. Considering how the few still existing come in MysteriousWaif form, they're quite sought after by those planning acts of terrorism.
** For a given definition of 'person', the setting has a whole lot of artificial sentient entities made specifically for war, from [[LivingWeapon Intelligent Devices]] to combat cyborgs such as the Numbers, humanoid magical constructs such as the Wolkenritter, and Unison Devices such as Reinforce in ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaAs'', who deserves a special mention by being literally a tool that fulfills its masters wishes and somewhat of a LiteralGenie. Despite this, power-wise, Reinforce might just be the most powerful character in the franchise, easily fending off Fate's Plasma Smasher and Nanoha's Excelion Buster ''at the same time'', upgrading Fate's spells to a mass attack "Genocide Shift" mode, breaking through Nanoha's shield without much effort and casting a [[WaveMotionGun Starlight Breaker]] that leaves a ''city-sized explosion''.
* Mahoro of ''Manga/{{Mahoromatic}}'' is an extraordinarily powerful RobotGirl who wields a [[{{BFG}} huge pistol]] and can rip apart HumongousMecha with her bare hands. She was created specifically to battle aliens. The trope of her creators [[AllOfTheOtherReindeer treating her like crap]] is notably averted, as everyone really likes her and are friendly to her, and the fact that [[spoiler:the more she uses her ultimate weapon, the shorter her lifespan is. Has a major part in parts of the plot, where using it could kill her. It eventually does.]]
* Several people in ''Manga/MahouSenseiNegima'' qualify. Just about any powerful mage could probably take out a good chunk of a city with little trouble. ''Then'' you have the ''really'' strong guys, such as Jack Rakan (accidentally blew up a mountain), Fate (pretty much obliterate an entire city sector with the flick of his wrist), Evangeline (beat the crap out of Fate when they fought), and Nagi (who beat Evangeline with no trouble at all). But the most ridiculous example is Asuna; her AntiMagic [[spoiler:actually caused a FloatingContinent to crash, and nearly destroyed the entire Magic World. Even worse is the fact that she didn't intend to do that; other people are capable of harnessing that power.]]
** In-Universe, many people believe Queen Arika to be one of these, thinking she caused a FloatingContinent to crash. [[spoiler:She's actually taking the blame for Asuna]].
** [[spoiler:Chachamaru]] also counts now that's capable of summoning a KillSat that can take out an EldritchAbomination.
* The Otome of ''Anime/MaiOtome'' are thinly veiled analogs for [=WMDs=], complete with a "SOLT" conference based on the real world "SALT" (Strategic Arms Limitations Talks) and issues similar to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The main Otome also have the added danger of being volatile young women in the middle of a twisted LoveTriangle, so you ''know'' there's going to be trouble. One of the girls involved in that triangle ([[spoiler:Nina]]) snaps and ''literally'' tries to destroy the world in the last few episodes.
* The Hero from ''LightNovel/MaoyuuMaouYuusha''. Easily the most powerful being in the world, perfectly capable of wiping out whole armies, cities, and mountains by himself with little to no effort. One of his companions mentions that he's so powerful that he's effectively completely removed from humanity in term of capacities.
* All the minus in ''Manga/MedakaBox'' certainly count [[spoiler:with the exception, apparently, of Shiranui]]: Kumagawa can revert everything to nothingness([[TheEndoftheWorldAsWeKnowIt including the FRIGGIN' WORLD]]), Shibuki can open long-gone scars (and that includes damage done to structures of buildings... [[FridgeHorror Just guess what happens when she goes to a recently rebuilt or reformed one and uses her power...]]), Mukae has the power to corrode things with her bare hands (even the air!) and she uses it to melt away an ''entire school building'', and last but not least, Gagamaru, who can move any kind of injuries he would suffer to another random person... Luckily, he was never hit by something like a falling plane or an explosion of some sort--at least, not that we know of.
** Then we have the Not-Equal Ajimu Najimi, which, with her some quadrillion skills, is the closest thing to a god in the manga. [[OhCrap Unfortunately, she is the main antagonist.]]
* ''Stink Bomb'', the second story in the ''Anime/{{Memories}}'' anthology film, is about a chemist who swallows a tablet, thinking that it's harmless cold medicine. Unfortunately, it turns out to be an experimental drug that makes him emit clouds of poison gas. (It also gives him immunity to most conventional weaponry.) What makes this Person of Mass Destruction particularly dangerous is that he has ''no idea'' that he's emitting all this poison, and is on a delivery mission that will take him straight into a major population center.
* All of the dragons in ''Manga/MissKobayashisDragonMaid'' are this to a certain degree, with the possible exception of [[TokenMiniMoe Kanna]]. Tohru herself casually mentions early on that she's powerful enough to bring about Armageddon.
* In ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'', the most powerful shinobi, those on the Kage level and above, can destroy whole armies and level mountains if they wish. A fight between two such individuals usually ends up with maps having to be '''redrawn'''. Case in point, Madara Uchiha vs the First Hokage, which carved out the valley where Sasuke and Naruto had their first all-out fight [[GenerationXerox decades later]].
** Naruto and his fellow jinchuuriki all have very nasty [[SealedEvilInACan demons sealed inside]] of them. [[SuperpoweredEvilSide It is a bad idea]] to piss them off. But of course, they get the BullyingADragon treatment. When those demons are released, they can fire {{Wave Motion Gun}}s powerful enough to function as FantasticNuke.
** [[BadassLongcoat Kakuzu]] can use wind, fire and lightning elemental techniques that dwarf a forest ''casually''.
** Deidara as well, seeing as he can create pseudo-atomic bombs whenever he feels like it. He can also turn himself into a bomb and explode, although [[TakingYouWithMe obviously he can only do it once]]. [[spoiler:And later after [[OhCrap he's brought back to life]] as an immortal zombie, same as most of the rest of Akatsuki. He's outright stated that he can go nuclear repeatedly, as the resurrection technique allows himself to reform. Person of mass destruction INDEED.]]
** Pain manages to catapult himself up to ''Manga/DragonBall Z'' levels of destruction with ease. Not only does he [[spoiler:control 6 different bodies at the same time, each of whom have impressive destructive powers]], but he also [[spoiler:''completely and utterly annihilates'' the village of Konoha with a single attack that can be best described as a WaveMotionGun that uses ''gravity'' to crush the entire town.]] And he can also use a sphere of '''condensed gravitational energy''' to rip off entire chunks of the earth's surface to form a mini moon.
** O'onoki and his teacher Mu can combine fire, earth and wind elements to form [[FantasticNuke Dust elements]] bombs which can [[DisintegratorRay disintegrate their targets on a ''molecular level'']].
** [[BadassTeacher Maito Gai]] can unlock [[DangerousForbiddenTechnique Chakra gates]] inside his body, drastically increasing his physical abilities. In this mode he can [[http://www.mangareader.net/93-56761-12/naruto/chapter-506.html create flaming Tsunami-destroying shockwaves]] or launch [[http://www.mangareader.net/93-56935-2/naruto/chapter-507.html tiger shaped mega-blasts]] of air pressure.
** Konan's most powerful technique [[spoiler:uses ''600 billion'' explosives.]] She uses it [[spoiler:in a failed attempt]] to ''[[ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill kill a single person.]]''
** But the [[spoiler:real Uchiha Madara]] puts everyone above to shame when [[spoiler:he summons ''[[ColonyDrop giant meteors out of the sky]]''. And that's just for starters. After which he proceeds to A) create a forest that covers the horizon filled with plants that release poisonous pollen, B) use some of the strongest fire-style abilities that take over 20 {{Elite Mook}}s to put out and does it casually, C) create upwards of 20 clones that are each people of mass destruction in their own right, D) have each clone use Susano'o, which on on its own is capable of kicking around 5 of the strongest people in the Narutoverse, E) Create an absolutely [[AttackOfThe50FootWhatever COLOSSAL]] Susano'o that dwarfs the local mountain ranges, F) use said monster to chop a mountain in half, G) reveals that he can [[UpToEleven combine said form]] with the '''Nine-Tailed Fox''' and destroy a mountain-range's amount of land with ease, H) summons a LivingShadow fast and powerful enough to blow away all the tailed beasts in one strike, I) form many gigantic meteors using land uprooted from ''an entire country'', and J) summon ''four'' of the aforementioned {{Living Shadow}}s and have them gang on enemies.]]
** The Sage of the Six Paths/[[spoiler: Hagoromo Otsutsuki and his brother]] took on the [[EldritchAbomination Ten-Tails]] and literally made the ''moon'' when he was on his deathbed.
** [[spoiler:Princess Kaguya was the strongest person to have ever lived, and proves it by moving Team 7 to an ''entirely different dimension'' with ease. Even with Naruto and Sasuke (and temporarily, Kakashi) having reached Person of Mass Destruction status in their own right, the only reason they have a chance at all is that [[UnskilledButStrong Kaguya never bothered to learn even the most rudimentary fighting abilities]], since in the past she'd always overwhelmed her enemies with sheer power. Presumably this is the same reason her sons were able to [[SealedEvilInACan seal her away]] in the past.]]
* ''Anime/NeoHumanCasshern'': Casshern from this show and ''Anime/CasshernSins'' is this, able to destroy countless enemies without breaking a sweat and is credited with ''killing life itself'' (well, [[RuleOfSymbolism the personification of life]], but whatever). It comes to the point where he has to ''actively try to get himself killed''. This is all PlayedForDrama.
* ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'':
** All of the Eva pilots are capable of absolute destruction of the world, made worse by the fact that they're all particularly emotionally unstable fourteen-year-olds. They regularly seem to defeat monsters capable of destroying the human race (leveling cities is child's play)
** In one episode [[spoiler: Shinji actually melds with his Evangelion and is able to successfully destroy an angel ''when his Eva was completely out of power''.]]
** Also, in ''End of Evangelion'' Asuka manages to completely destroy a massive army's offense and almost manages to [[spoiler: destroy the mass-produced Evas in under five minutes.]]
** In ''Anime/RebuildOfEvangelion'', Shinji becomes one ''by accident'' when he [[spoiler: triggers a Near Third Impact from his sheer determination to save Rei. Although Kaworu manages to stop it with the Spear of Longinus, it still kills most of humanity and does even more damage to the Earth's biosphere.]]
* ''Manga/OnePiece'':
** Whitebeard is definitely an example of this. His [[spoiler:earthquake]] powers were once described as being enough to [[spoiler:destroy the world]]. [[spoiler: And then [[OhCrap Blackbeard causes a tsunami, make an entire]] ''[[OhCrap island]]'' [[OhCrap tilt on it's side,]] ''[[OhCrap splits it in half]]'', [[OhCrap and collapses one of the largest buildings in the world.]]]]
** Mermaid Princess Shirahoshi [[spoiler: can summon and speak to Sea Kings, some of the most powerful and intelligent creatures in the sea. And these aren't your run-of-the-mill Sea Kings that the heroes punch out on occasion, these are [[{{Kaiju}} Sea Kings so big they could effortlessly swallow a battleship whole]]. This ability also makes her the ancient weapon Poseidon. So all she needs to do is call out and [[http://onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/File:Shirahoshi_Summons_Sea_Kings_as_a_Child.png these guys]] will show up and eat up whatever she might want them to. Good thing she's kind of a peaceful girl.]]
** Seems to be requirement to advance to [[BadassInCharge admiral]] in the Marines: Sakazuki is a [[ConvectionSchmonvection living volcano]], Borsalino can level cities with FrickinLaserBeams, [[AnIcePerson Kuzan]] can freeze entire islands over and finally Isshô can summon '''[[GravityMaster meteors]]''' to crash down on the battlefield.
** It's also a requirement/side effect for being one of the Four Emperors, the four most powerful pirates at any given moment who control whole swathes of the Grand Line. Whitebeard's already documented above, Kaido destroyed several {{Tailor Made Prison}}s and the fleets that guarded them (even one of his subordinates is called "the Drought" because any nation that has him rampaging around will look like an actual drought ground them down to nothing), Big Mom can and will personally devour an entire island in a hunger rampage and controls the weather for entire nations using pieces of her own soul, and Shanks, while not directly seen, has been said to have such cataclysmic clashes with other Emperors ''everyone'' in the Grand Line knew it was him. The level of power needed to even be able to call yourself an Emperor ''must'' be so high that the very idea of anyone else below them facing you one-on-one is laughable (and woe betide you [[SlaveToPR if it starts to look otherwise]]).
** ''One Piece'' is a series where you do ''not'' need to have superpowers to be a Person of Mass Destruction, because the {{Charles Atlas Superpower}}s are ''that'' extreme. Take the world greatest swordsman, Dracule "Hawk-Eye" Mihawk, who can chop up armadas and ice mountains alike with no real effort (and [[RazorWind without even needing his sword to touch his target]]), or Vice-Admiral Garp, who in a flash back offhandedly mentions ''crushing mountains'' as a training exercise, and has visibly thrown iron balls the size of battleships around with little effort.
** [[TheHero Monkey D. Luffy]] eventually joins this club by dealing some pretty amazing feats of damage even before he had discovered Haki or his gear abilities. And that's just for starters. Throughout the anime, Luffy's gum gum attacks combined with his super strength enabled him to TOPPLE WARSHIPS with his bare hands. e.i. ripping the bow off a ship in order to use as an impromptu weapon [[spoiler: albeit while under strengthening hypnosis]], drop kick and sink a tooled up battleship with ease, rend the mast off another ship and impale it upon a monstrously huge whale and to date one of his most horrendous feats of grit and strength; caused the massive upheaval between a deep cavernous temple all the way to the surface city plaza by rapid punching somebody through countless layers of bedrock all the way through to its surface! On the Enies Lobby Arc, he destroyed the top half of the Tower of Justice with two uses of Gear Third (the first made the Tower shake a little...and that was just by knocking a massive steel door down). As for after the TimeSkip, he nearly destroyed the massive ship Noah by using his most powerful attack. Keep in mind that Noah was in collision course with Fishman Island and worked have almost certainly destroyed it were it not for the Sea Kings who stopped it, who themselves remarked on how powerful Luffy is. [[spoiler: Oh, and there is Gear Fourth Luffy: his most powerful attack in that form split an entire city into two slabs and forced them upwards into the air. It'd be damn hard to argue it now.]]
* ''Manga/OnePunchMan'': The Heroes Association naturally has more than a few, like Tatsumaki, who can lift an entire city's worth of rubble to throw at a metropolis-sized mothership, or Genos, who can incinerate entire city blocks easy. But the epitome is the titular protagonist, Saitama, who ''[[http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/11112/111128182/3964039-7967148121-39640.png split the goddamn atmosphere]]'' when he actually threw a somewhat serious punch at someone.
* Taken a bit less seriously in ''Manga/OuranHighSchoolHostClub'' (obviously) with Hunny-''senpai''. After Japan's Secretary of Defence watched him [[CurbStompBattle beat the ever loving crap out of his father]] (who was supposedly the greatest martial artist of their great martial arts family), he asked Hunny never to fight in public again, lest other countries believe Japan was making a Weapon of Mass Destruction (i.e., this trope). At the time Hunny couldn't have been but 15 or 16.
* A MadScientist creates [=PoMDs=] in ''Out Code'' (no relation to ''Code: Breaker'' aside from pyrokinetic main characters), including a guy who's basically [[Anime/YuGiOh Seto Kaiba]] with ComicBook/{{Magneto}}'s powers (but weaker) and causing several people to [[BodyHorror weep and sweat acid]].
* ''Manga/Overlord2012'':
** Pretty much anyone from Nazarick or its guardians or its guardians' summons, qualifies, but the biggest around (so far) is Ainz Ooal Gown, the main character who is basically experiencing a NewGamePlus in a broadly-similar world:
*** Ainz' biggest claim to infamy is eliminating 75,000 people in a single spell... which was only the first part of the ritual, used to fuel the summoning of {{Eldritch Abomination}}s that increased the death toll to 180,000 (and later Ainz claims he can only cast that one every ten years to reassure everyone). The episode where this happens is appropriately titled "Massacre".
*** Ainz' class prevents him from using weapons correctly, but his strength stat is so high he can still slice through monsters like ogres and trolls. And that's before you get into the stupidly broken things like stopping time, teleporting, removing immunity to instant-death spells, his many, many instant death spells...
*** A single Death Knight (summoned by Ainz) plows through a company of knights and then raises the dead as servants. Later on Ainz shows up with half a thousand of them as his personal bodyguard (not that he needed them- see "Massacre" above) and because that wasn't enough, they're also mounted on {{Hellish Horse}}s called Soul Eaters, three of which nearly wiped out a capital city.
*** Ainz manages to defeat (well, vassalize) the immense Baharut Empire in mere days, something that stuns TheStrategist Demiurge: his faith in Ainz' victory was absolute, but his own plans called for months of bloody attrition warfare and even then only after defeating the neighboring Re-Estize kingdom. This was entirely a fluke on Ainz' part: he showed up in the Empire's arena for [[ShamelessSelfPromoter completely unrelated reasons]] and handily defeated their champion without using magic, convincing the Emperor that Ainz couldn't be killed, period, and thus surrendered in the hopes that being Nazarick's property would save more lives than heroically resisting them to the last. [[spoiler:Several volumes later, it's actually worked out pretty well for the Empire.]]
*** Even worse: Ainz, by his own admission, was only a ''mid-tier'' level 100 character, being more of a roleplay build than {{MinMax}}ed for utter annihilation of the enemy. One of his guildmates ''was'' tweaked for such a purpose, however, and went by the BossSubtitles "World Disaster".
** Mare is a druid and was programmed with a rather shy personality, so we don't see his spells very often. When we do, he causes an earthquake that swallows up several hundred enemies in seconds. His sister Aura doesn't have such destructive powers, because she can use her beasts to do it (the aforementioned earthquake was cast from the back of a dragon).
** When he first came to the New World, Ainz gave Enri a pair of goblin-summoning horns to defend herself (basically VendorTrash back in YGGDRASSIL), the first of which summoned a BadassCrew of a dozen of so goblins, all of which are sentient beings who skillfully defend her and her village. When the village is under attack by an army and she blows the second horn out of desperation, she (somehow) summons ''several thousand goblins'', divided into heavy infantry, cavalry, assassins, and even casters and magical artillery, all led by a goblin strategist dressed as Zhuge Liang, who quickly curbstomp the attackers without a single loss. The narration mentions that Enri fulfilled several conditions to drastically change the results produced by the horn, but doesn't mention what those are (even Ainz is stumped, though he realizes Enri was partly responsible).
** Shalltear and Aura reduce a mole-man population from 800,000 to 10,000 in mere seconds, for the sole crime of ''not submitting fast enough'', when they had no idea who Ainz was.
* Mewtwo of the first ''Anime/{{Pokemon}}'' movie, despite not being human, is definitely a Person of Mass Destruction. This is made all the more apparent by the fact that in some translations his birthplace is listed as [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything Mile Island]]. His power is so great the he was able to create an unnaturally huge hurricane that would've eventually wiped out all life on the planet aside from those on his island in the eye of the storm ''just by thinking about it and twirling his hand'', then dissipated the storm just as easily after his HeelFaceTurn. Note that he was in no way focusing his full power on the storm at any time, and in fact kept expanding it even while controlling hundreds of individual Poké Balls, taking on his ancestor Mew in a psychic battle (in which Mewtwo had the upper hand), completely dominating the mind of at least one human, ''and'' psychically suppressing the abilities of every other Pokemon on the island. Afterwards, he then telekinetically lifted every single person and Pokémon on the island--easily over a hundred individuals weighing several tons in total, and again without any noticeable strain--erased their memories of the entire thing, and teleported them--again, ''en masse''--to a port several miles away. It's a good thing he wanted to "prove himself" before his purge--had he been more efficient, he probably could have easily wiped out humanity in an afternoon at most.
** To further put this in perspective, a similar storm was generated in the second movie, but only after the three legendary birds had been fighting all-out for some time. Each of these three combatants, by the way, are implied to be so powerful that they are able to change the climate of wherever they are ''just by existing''--and Mewtwo equaled their combined power without even trying!
*** Said birds (Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres) and Lugia, who shut down the storm in that movie, all have weather control as explicit abilities. Mewtwo does not. He was duplicating it using telekinesis. Yes, that means he's better than several OlympusMons in their specialization while faking that ability with another ability entirely. Be very afraid.
** May be a coincidence, but his powers glow the exact same color as Cerenkov radiation.
* The titular character of ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica'' has so much magical talent that if she became a magical girl, she would be capable of destroying the most powerful witch in a single blast. And then she [[spoiler:becomes an ultimate witch who really ''can and does'' remove all life from the world. Part of the plot of the story is centered around when she would actually make her wish.]]
** All other magical girls are Downplayed examples: while unable to destroy the world, a fight between two of them, [[spoiler: Homura and Mami in particular,]] has the potential to destroy a mid-sized building.
* ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'':
** Ranma's final opponent is the Phoenix Emperor Saffron. If his maturation ritual is completed successfully, he becomes a living "power plant" to Mt. Phoenix and all its people, constantly shedding light and heat without the slightest effort. If something goes awry, though, he loses control of his power, becoming psychotic, and releasing his energy as raw flame and beams capable of vaporizing mountains. As one character put it, he's like "a flamethrower without a safety valve."
** Most of the [[FanNickname Nerima Wrecking Crew]] qualify as well, who have been responsible for excessive destruction to the city.
** Ryoga in particular, whose SuperStrength, NighInvulnerable nature, and [[DoesNotKnowHisOwnStrength having little control over his own strength]], causes him to leave a trail of destruction wherever he goes. Not to mention his [[FingerPokeOfDoom Bakusai Tenketsu]] that allows him to blow through rocks at ease. At his max power he can generate [[KiAttack Shishi Hokodan]] that is a SphereOfDestruction larger than the whole school.
** Ranma has learnt a fair share of destructive techniques, such as the [[KiAttack Moko Takabisha]] but his most potent one is the [[BlowYouAway Hiryu Shoten Ha]], an extremely powerful tornado that turns an enemy's strength on themself. When using against Kuno, Mousse, Haposai, and Principal Kuno, it created a giant twister that shredded everything nearby. When used against [[PhysicalGod Saffron]] it was strong enough to literally shatter his body.
* ''Manga/TheRecordOfAFallenVampire'' has Strauss, the vampire immune to the sun who also has an almost godly amount of magic, and Adelheid, his queen, who wields the Moonlight of Corrosion.
* Chise of ''Manga/{{Saikano}}'' is a particularly cruel example of the horrible repercussions after she is turned into a super weapon, though it varies on the version, anime or manga. In both cases [[spoiler:everyone dies. ''[[KillEmAll Everyone]]''.]]
** In the anime version, she does her best to try and save what she can, but even she is powerless as the world practically falls apart around her [[spoiler:and with it all ultimately ending with most of humanity destroying each other with a monster tsunami then dealing to killing blow to the rest.]]
** In the manga, [[spoiler:she consciously and single-handedly kills everyone in the human race, save for Shuji.]]
* ''Franchise/SailorMoon'':
** Hotaru Tomoe a.k.a. Sailor Saturn, the senshi of destruction and rebirth, is a perfect example. Able to destroy a planet at will, and just about anything by sacrificing herself in the process.
** In ''Series/PrettyGuardianSailorMoon,'' [[spoiler:Princess Serenity ''herself'' is the Person of Mass Destruction, caused by her being driven insane by the sight of Prince Endymion's death]]. In the [[Manga/SailorMoon manga]] and [[Anime/SailorMoon original anime]], [[spoiler:she has the potential to be this but is generally a Person of Mass Healing]].
* In ''Anime/SandsOfDestruction'', [[spoiler:Kyrie]] is definitely a Person of Mass...well ''World'' Destruction actually. He basically has the power to revert anything (even the entire planet) back to its elemental sand. He was created by the gods specifically for this purpose, and his power becomes active whenever someone comes along who sincerely wishes the world would end.
* Most S-ranked fighters from ''LightNovel/SeikenTsukaiNoWorldBreak'' are considered this. [[spoiler:Moroha Haimura also included, but as unofficial. However, his power is so immense that almost anything else his classmates in the Strikers unit do pales in comparison, such as against the fortress metaphysical in episode 6.]]
* #01 is hinted to be this in ''Manga/{{Sekirei}}'', as those in the know are ''absolutely terrified'' of what would happen if she were to act. Her neutrality is stated to be the only thing preventing the complete destruction of the Capital, as [[BloodKnight Karasuba]] would go into a frenzy at the chance to fight her. A flashback reveals her to be able to [[spoiler: sink aircraft carriers]] with a single blow, hinting at just how powerful she might actually be.
* In the series ''Manga/TheSevenDeadlySins'' [[spoiler: Meliodas, in his backstory, wiped out the kingdom of Danafor single-handedly when he lost control of his powers in the past]].
** Every member of the Sins team qualifies, though it's best exemplified when [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gk-5yQcHfrc Ban and Meliodas reunite]] and [[spoiler: ''unwittingly destroy [[TheAlcatraz an indestructible prison]]'' through the sheer force of their greeting]].
* Lina Inverse from ''The LightNovel/{{Slayers}}'' has a spell that works like a tactical nuke, AND a spell that can undo reality itself. She tends to throw the first around whenever basic attacks fail, and worry about whatever she was supposed to be [[DestructiveSaviour defending later]]. Every now and then someone, from a bandit chieftain to a demon lord, tries to command, manipulate or coerce a person with such powers to work for them; Xellos appears to be the most successful with that, because he does not try to coerce, blackmail or threaten Lina: he is in no way sincerely nice to her, but he IS nice.
* All of the major-level paopei in ''Manga/SoulHunter'' are capable of some serious destruction, but none match this trope as well as Nataku, the Human Paopei (long story). And then there's ultimate BigBad [[spoiler: Jyoka]], who is so ridiculously powerful that it takes a CombinedEnergyAttack from the ''gods themselves'' to take down.
* Ryoko from ''Manga/TenchiMuyo'' fits here, at least in her original OVA form, since she is listed as destroying several planets in her past. An honorable mention should also go out to [[spoiler:Tenchi himself, as when his godself manifested in OVA 3, he nearly destroyed ALL THAT EXISTS.]] Give him his due, he doesn't mess about. For that matter, every OVA shows that when Tenchi manifests the Light Hawk Wings, he can tell the laws of physics to take a hike and destroy almost anything. OVA 2 shows him rescue the other characters from inside the event horizon of a black hole by simply ''breaking it''. Remember that a black hole has the mass of a star.
* ''Manga/TowardTheTerra'' has the Type Blue [[PsychicPower Mu]], who are capable of single-handedly destroying starships and stopping beams from [[EarthShatteringKaboom Planet Killers]]. Finally, the Mu have enough of FantasticRacism and [[BewareTheNiceOnes declare war on humankind and society controlled by computers]]. The only thing inhabitants of next attacked world can do, is to [[OhCrap observe]] how their planetary defense is massacred by 7 teenagers.
* Vash from ''Manga/{{Trigun}}'' is ([[NotHyperbole literally]]) single-handedly capable of destroying cities without meaning to, and is referred to as "the Humanoid Typhoon" throughout the series. His ''weaker'', [[EvilTwin genocidal twin brother]], on the other hand, wipes out millions of people and by the end of the manga poses a danger to humanity throughout the entire ''galaxy''. This example, incidentally, shows us one effective RestrainingBolt for such a character: pacifism and/or guilt. He also has the [[MedalOfDishonor dubious honor]] of being the first person to be declared a natural disaster; you know you're a Person of Mass Destruction when any damage you cause is labelled an "act of God".
** It's also a ZigzaggedTrope, as while Vash does cause ''some'' property damage [[spoiler: including an entire city and [[DefaceOfTheMoon leaving a gigantic crater on the moon]]]], most of the damage attributed to him is caused by reckless bounty hunters with little regard for collateral damage trying to cash in on his bounty.
* The Crusniks in ''LightNovel/TrinityBlood''. In the backstory (which isn't discussed in the anime, but is AllThereInTheManual), during the Armageddon War [[spoiler:Abel]] single-handedly killed ''seven million'' humans.
* Any user of Cosmo in ''Manga/SaintSeiya'' can be this should they want it, as even the weaker ones can easily punch with the strength of an artillery shell. Then we have Lizard Misty, who one-shot ''Mount Fuji''... And ''he's nowhere in the league of the '''really''' strong ones''.

* Crichton of ''Series/{{Farscape}}'' ends up wearing a nuclear bomb with a few dozen kinds of dead-man's switches. He's not happy about it. "Hi... Honey. Huh. Guess what I did at work today? I wore a bomb. A nuclear bomb in a field of flowers. I could get lucky. Tomorrow I could have a bigger bomb. I could kill... more people. Maybe they'll be innocent people. Children... maybe." And this is to say nothing of his wormhole knowledge.
** We finally see a wormhole weapon he unleashes in the ''Peacekeeper Wars'' miniseries in the midst of an all-out SpaceBattle between the Peacekeepers and the Scarrans. The idea is to show them that wormhole weapons are too terrible to ever be used to make war, as they have the potential to destroy galaxies whole or even unravel reality itself. Both sides finally agree to peace after seeing this (although [[MagnificentBastard Scorpius]] doesn't stop in the follow-up comics).

* Crichton of ''Series/{{Farscape}}'' ends up wearing ''Series/{{Farscape}}'', for whom the least qualification is strapping himself to a nuclear bomb with a few dozen kinds of dead-man's switches. He's not happy about it. "Hi... Honey. Huh. Guess what I did at work today? I wore a bomb. A nuclear bomb dead-man switches in a field of flowers. I could get lucky. Tomorrow I could have a bigger bomb. I could kill... more people. Maybe they'll be innocent people. Children... maybe." And this is order to say nothing of crash a peace summit between two galactic superpowers. But his wormhole knowledge.
** We finally see
knowledge is ''so much worse'' for its ability to create wormhole weapons. When it's first seen unlocked, he helps design and build a "displacement engine" which uses a wormhole weapon he unleashes to siphon matter out of a star and vaporize a Scarran Dreadnought--usually considered to be almost unkillable--in a matter of seconds. Later on in the ''Peacekeeper Wars'' miniseries in he unleashes a worse weapon on the midst of an all-out SpaceBattle between the Peacekeepers Scarran and the Scarrans. The idea is Peacekeeper fleets to show force them to the table and prove that wormhole weapons are too terrible to ever be used to make war, as they have used. The weapon? A rapidly expanding black hole, which eats most of the potential to fleets, the planet they're orbiting, and if not stopped would possibly destroy galaxies whole or even unravel reality itself. Both sides finally agree to peace after seeing this (although [[MagnificentBastard Scorpius]] doesn't stop in the follow-up comics).galaxy.

* Potentially the player character in ''Videogame/StreetsOfRogue'', depending upon their traits, items and whatever mutators are active. Infinite ammo or melee durability and either an upgraded Wall Walloper trait or a rocket launcher with Blaster Master will allow anyone to completely destroy every single floor in the city down to the last brick. Even at a lower power level it quickly becomes trivially easy to kill everyone occupying those floors in a relatively short period of time, leading to several hundred casualties per hour being a reasonable benchmark to achieve.
** Out of the vanilla classes [[HumanoidAbomination the Werewolf]] and [[PatientZero Zombie]] best embody this trope, since neither requires gaining any items or levels to wreck the city. The former has the worst base stats of any character but can transform into a howling maelstrom of fury in an instant to shred through absolutely any opponents in mere seconds, this transformation is actually powerful enough that it can realistically solo [[BossInMookClothing the Giant Robot]] with nothing but its claws and some careful dodging. The Zombie is nowhere even close to as powerful in a direct confrontation but infects anyone damaged by it, causing them to revive as another zombie when they die. These other zombies can in turn spread the infection themselves and as you might imagine this makes it very easy to snowball. You can start a floor alone, attack the first few people you see wandering the street or in any nearby buildings and just a few minutes later over a third of the floor can be an undead army that will do all of the heavy lifting for you.

** Roger to an even greater extent, it's revealed in one episode that the secret behind how most of his gags work (generally involving him being multiple characters in multiple places at once, even within the same room) is that [[SuperSpeed he's just really, really, really fast.]] Time appears to slow to a crawl around him when he runs, meaning that [[FridgeHorror if he wanted to he could personally zip around and kill every single organism on the planet with nothing being even remotely quick enough to stop him]]. Thankfully his addiction to silly antics keeps him mostly occupied and limits his casualties to probably just a few unfortunate individuals each week, in a more serious work Roger would be a truly terrifying villain to behold.

** Jean's children by [[ComicBook/{{Cyclops}} Scott Summers]], [[ComicBook/RachelSummers Rachel]], [[ComicBook/XMan Nate]] and ComicBook/{{Cable}}, all qualify. Rachel is, at base line, nearly omnipotent, with psychic powers on a cosmic scale, and the Phoenix is specifically noted as liking her. Nate is arguably even stronger, having been created by Sinister as a LivingWeapon to kill Apocalypse and was estimated as being as powerful as Jean was as the Dark Phoenix at the age of seventeen, later being stated as capable of going toe to toe with the Sentry by Norman Osborn. Really, anybody with a [[SoulCuttingBlade Shardblade]] and/or [[PoweredArmor Shardplate]] counts as this, at least potentially, has the potential to do this. Szeth is particularly dangerous because in addition to having a Shardblade he's also a MagicKnight with GravityMaster powers.powers that no one else understands.
** Vin and other Mistborn from ''Literature/MistbornTheOriginalTrilogy'' (which shares an author and universe with Stormlight) also count. Allomancers can consume metal for various effects such as manipulating other pieces of metal, super senses, or super strength/durability. Most people have access to only one of these powers, but Mistborn can use all of them. The combination of powers allows two Vin and another mistborn to kill roughly 300 men within a few minutes. The rare metal Atium can enhance this even further, allowing the user to see and react to what others will do a few seconds into the future, making them nearly unstoppable killing machines.

How To Write An Example - Don't Write Reviews

** This was taken further in the {{Elseworld}} story ''ComicBook/TheGoldenAge'', in which Franchise/GreenLantern witnesses the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and, realizing that his power is on par with the atom bomb, puts his ring away and retires in the belief that no human deserves to wield such power. His reluctant return at the end of the story to combat the archvillain is his [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome shining moment]], and one of the few times in or out of continuity we truly see how much Alan Scott means to Franchise/TheDCU.

** Harry Dresden himself gets pretty close to this. He's capable of throwing a giant demonic werewolf across a city block with no preparation. When faced with the start of a ZombieApocalypse, he responds by making his own zombie out of something [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome much bigger than people]], which stomps on National Guard trucks as an afterthought. When he goes to rescue someone from faerieland and encounters more resistance than he expected, he sets the whole place on fire.

** ''VideoGame/MetalGearSolidVThePhantomPain'' has another example in the form of [[spoiler:Quiet, Venom Snake's sharpshooting ally and love interest. She is revealed in the game's second act as being infected with vocal chord parasites, a deadly biological weapon that can spread like wildfire and kill anyone speaking in the language the parasites are attuned to. Specifically, she is infected with a strain that is activated by speaking English; a strain that had been engineered by Skull Face as part of his plan to TakeOverTheWorld by destroying the English language (as well as holding the world at ransom with nukes only he could control). Since English is the dominant language of most of the world, if she were to speak a word of English, she could cause a pandemic of apocalyptic proportions. In the end, when Snake is gravely wounded in the desert and an evac chopper has trouble finding them in a sandstorm, she is forced to give instructions to the pilot over a walkie-talkie in English and, with her parasites activated, wandered out into the desert to die, taking the parasites with her and averting a global disaster.]]

* In ''Fanfic/NeitherABirdNorAPlaneItsDeku'', numerous powerful Heroes, such as All Might and Firestorm, can accomplish feats like changing the weather with a punch or turning all of Mt. Izuku, a [[FlyingBrick Kryptonian]], ''isn't'' this during the story, but it's his fear of becoming one that contributes to his refusal to become a Hero at the story's outset.

* ''VideoGame/FreedomForce'' has Man-Bot, an IronMan {{Expy}} who was a carefree playboy until struck by an unstable canister of [[SuperSerum Energy X]], causing it to periodically build up inside him and release in an explosive manner. His smart brother tries to get him to put on a [[PoweredArmor powered containment suit]] until he can find a way to cure him, but the playboy refuses. He then "explodes" and accidentally kills his brother. Now he's TheAtoner and wears the armor in order to avoid hurting more people. The armor allows him to channel the energy to power the suit and focus it into a beam of energy. He can still occasionally explode if attacked, but to a much lesser extent than without the suit. Man-Bot is also the key to the [[BigBad Time Master]]'s plan to destroy the Celestial Clock and allow him to remain ageless.

* ''Manga/Overlord2012'':
** Pretty much anyone from Nazarick or its guardians or its guardians' summons, qualifies, but the biggest around (so far) is Ainz Ooal Gown, the main character who is basically experiencing a NewGamePlus in a broadly-similar world:
*** Ainz' biggest claim to infamy is eliminating 75,000 people in a single spell... which was only the first part of the ritual, used to fuel the summoning of EldritchAbominations that increased the death toll to 180,000 (and later Ainz claims he can only cast that one every ten years to reassure everyone).
Later on Ainz shows up with half a thousand of them as his personal bodyguard (not that he needed them- see "Massacre" above) and because that wasn't enough, they're also mounted on HellishHorses called Soul Eaters, three of which nearly wiped out a capital city.
*** Even worse: Ainz, by his own admission, was only a ''mid-tier'' level 100 character, being more of a roleplay build than MinMaxed for utter annihilation of the enemy.
