* ''Series/FraggleRock'': In "Gobo's Discovery", Gobo, after a bad scare in Outer Space, considers giving up exploring and becoming a juggler. It doesn't help when he gives Boober and Wembley the wrong directions to Rock Soap Cavern, accidentally sending them to the Great Outer Maze (home of the dreaded [[InvisibleMonster Invisible Garboil]]), and goes there to rescue them... only to get lost in it himself, narrowly make it out, and find out they hadn't entered the Maze in the first place. More sure than ever that he doesn't want to be an explorer, he sulks in his room, but Red tells him, [[QuitYourWhining "Oh, come off it, Gobo. You're not the only one with problems, you know."]] Gobo responds by angrily singing "The Me I Wanna Be".

* ''Literature/EarthsChildren'': This briefly comes up in ''The Plains of Passage''; when Ayla tells Madenia she understands how she feels because she herself was raped, Madenia stubbornly points out that Ayla was "only" raped by one man, as opposed to multiple men. Ayla gently counters that her rapist openly and repeatedly preyed on her for weeks and no one stopped him, which makes Madenia realize Ayla probably does know better than most how she feels.

[[folder:Real Life]]
* Extremely common in real life. Complain about literally anything, ''especially'' on the internet, and someone will be there to tell you about how they or other people in the world have it worse. Weather too hot or too cold? Someone from a greater climate extreme will be there to laugh at you for being such a wimp. Tough childhood? Bullied at school? Toxic work environment? Abusive spouse or parent? They've had it worse!
** ''Very'' common among military personnel. You think ''your'' previous assignment was bad? Rest assured, it wasn't as bad as theirs! And don't even get started if someone has deployed to a war zone when someone else hasn't. The previous generation of soldiers will always look down on the current one for being "soft" and "weak."
** Among social justice activists this is referred to as "The Oppression Olympics", and strongly discouraged. Trying to one-up each other over who has suffered more discrimination (of whatever kind) only creates division, resentment, and hinders cooperation among people who would otherwise work together to improve things. Even so, it still happens.
* The previous generation of anyone, anywhere, in any context or career field, will always look down on the newer generation for "having it easy." It just seems to be a universally human thing.
