* In [[OlderThanDirt Amores]] by Psuedo-Lucian of Samosata, Caricles and Callicritadas are debating the virtues of heterosexual love versus homosexual love, particularly that felt for [[{{Shotacon}} teenagers]], [[{{Bishonen}} and young, beautiful men]], each taking defense of the respective form of love. After a series of slights against females made during his defense of male love, Callicratidas pulls out the big bow (this was before guns were invented, mind you) and fires away with his strongest amm... arrows: Heterosexual marriage was a remedy purposed with perpetuating the species, but something done out of necessity is inferior to something that has an aesthetic value (such as [[BoysLove making love to boys]]). 'At the beginning of History, Man was constrained by necessity to obtain food in order to live. He therefore fed on roots and berries. But, as time went on, he discovered how to sow oats and barley and only animals went on feeding on roots and berries. Would anyone be crazy enough to believe that animals are superior to Men because of this? So why do we not apply the same standard in judging Love? Loving women is a primitive necessity. Loving men was a conquest of divine philosphy.' Well, at least he avoided the Naturalistic Fallacy.

** Ironically, when, in the manga, Ryoga accidentally used a magical artifact on Ranma that caused Ranma to fall in love with him, Ranma spent almost the entirety of that storyline in his female form (only changing to male when it was necessary to overpower Ryoga).

** Not helped by the fact that there's only a handful named male characters in the show (and they're two creepy middle-aged men--Kimura the Classical Literature teacher and Gotou the principal--Ohyama the class president, two cats (Mayaa and Kamineko), a dog (Tadakichi-san), and some sort of imaginary magical cat man... thing). [[hottip:* :Which, according to both Sakaki and Osaka, is Chiyo-chan's father, and is thus named Chiyo-chichi.]]
*** Also not helped by the fact that this fandom had a bad experience with an infamous GaryStu fic pairing off five of the girls with [[strike:five male [=OCs=]]] [[AuthorAvatar the author]] [[SelfInsertFic and his friends]].
*** However, he ''is'' a very cute dog. And gets shipped with the girls occasionally. Especially Chiyo. But the others also get their share of hot Tadakichi action.

* Kind of justified on series like TheLWord and QueerAsFolk, where, as you'd expect, there are literally no het shippers. It's notable that both shows received very loud "Ews" (and angry letters) from the fanbase whenever heterosexual hookups occurred. Definitely, when you're drawn to a show because it's a CastFullOfGay, you're going to feel that HetIsEw, but this extends to fans of the show perpetuating NoBisexuals by removing the possibility that canonically bisexual characters could ever be interested in someone of the opposite sex.

* Mostly the fanfic-fandom for ThatGuyWithTheGlasses averts this. Iron Liz, Linkara's girlfriend, was happily fangirled after her 'true nature' was revealed.
* However, there are [[{{Fangirl}} certain]] [[StrawFeminist areas]] where you will find people who think that the first [[RapeAsComedy Spooning With Spoony]] was offensive and horrific, while the second episode induced much delight. [[SarcasmMode We wonder why that could be?]]

* The Wicked fandom have a Fiyeraba section and a Gelphie section, they both like to pretend the other doesn't exist. And you will DIE if you ship Crope or Tibbet with someone of the opposite gender - in fact in most fics their defining characteristic is that they're homosexual.
* RENT fandom does not look approvingly of shipping homosexul characters with hetrosexual partners or even Maureen with Mark unless it's pre-musical
* The musical Zanna, Don't projects this as reality, with heterosexual couples being persecuted and disowned by everyone around them. Its....weird.

* The AceAttorney fandom tends to have people playing for all teams, but the HetIsEw people happen to be one of the crushing majorities. It doesn't help that the games themselves are overtly drowning in both het and slash subtext for ALL characters, even though several het couples have been officially hinted at (Phoenix/Maya, for example) and even made canon (Diego/Mia, Ron/Dessie) in the official game timeline and story.

** Sonic x Shadow (known as Sonadow) is quite possibly an even more popular pairing, despite the fact that there's barely any in-canon chemistry between them other than their same species. Sonadow fangirls are often very obsessive and defensive.

* Unsurprisngly, [[FamilyGuy Brian is often paired with Stewie in fanfiction]]. However, what it is surprisingly is the number of people who think that Brian is gay ''in canon'', despite being absolutely no evidence of this.

The extreme versions are the kind who write [[HarryPotter J.K. Rowling]] hate mail for daring to give Remus Lupin a wife. They also don't seem to want to listen when many real gay people point out the fanfiction they're writing is highly stereotypical and doesn't really reflect reality (not that all Het Fic does this either, but there you go). Mind you, more extreme typical {{Yaoi Fangirl}}s might engage in this sort of flaming as well. There are also those who are just tired of the ubiquity of het romance plots in all variety of fiction and the tropes that go with them, particularly the stereotyping of everyone involved.

* ''{{Gorillaz}}'' - 2D/Murdoc shippers are usually ''very'' opposed to either of them engaging in a relationship with a female, to the point that Noodle, Paula, Rachel, Cyborg Noodle etc. are oftentimes subject to DieForOurShip. Which is odd, because while there is a nice chunk of canon HoYay, both of the guys in question are notoriously promiscuous with women (this troper can't remember any info about Murdoc's, but 2D has eight or ten illegitimate children). A nice subversion of this is TheFoolOnMelancholyHill, which focuses on 2D/Murdoc, but also has a heterosexual side pairing between a female OC and her male former friend.

Some people are fans of [[SlashFic Slash]] - the {{Shipping}} of two same-sex characters from a fandom together. Some people take this is a little further though; they don't just like Slash but also dislike the idea of {{Shipping}} two opposite sex people together, even when it is clear that these characters are 100% straight, and even if these shippers themselves are.

* Certain sects of the ''SonicTheHedgehog'' fandom are like this, determined to make Sonic x Tails work as a pairing. Although another way to do this is to exploit ViewerGenderConfusion and insist Tails is a girl.

This trope is OlderThanTheyThink. When you get down to it, plain-vanilla sexual intercourse has its own share of {{squick}}. Just about the only thing more unsanitary would be for a boy to stick his whatsit in a ''back-door'' whatsit. (...And yet the HetIsEw crowd runs with that. So maybe these two are unrelated.)

Actually, much of the time you can tell if someone is a fan of the anime or the manga depending on whether they like Winry or they wish her an [[DieForOurShip awful demise]] (or, if they're more benevolent, ignore her existence altogether or pair her off with Al. [[LesYay Or Sheska, or Riza]]).
