** It's more likely that Rorschach suffers from a madonna/whore complex, which is used to describe a disturbed male state of mind that views women as either innocent, pure, and nurturing or depraved and sexually filthy. Rorschach never actually met Kitty Genovese, his first motivator for becoming a vigilante, so he could project an ideal onto her to fill the gap, while the victim in the case that sent him over the edge (Blair Roche) was a seven-year-old girl, which makes her innocent by default. This interpretation can be supported by the fact that he similarly projects an ideal on his unknown ''father'' as well- while it's obviously not part of his madonna/whore complex, it still shows that he has a tendency to build up false images of people he has never met in order to categorize them into his polarized worldview. Everything in Rorschach's mind falls into either one category or the other, and he is incapable of understanding anything in between... which kind of fits, given that he's a commentary on TheQuestion from when Ditko was ''very'' big into Objectivism.

Current comics show that he got better (implied to be due to being forced to pair with Gypsy - they were each other's last chance). Now he's simply [[TwiceShy painfully shy]] around women who aren't Gypsy.

The (partial) SpearCounterpart to DoesNotLikeMen, [[DoubleStandard except portrayed much less sympathetically]]. When one of a character's major defining traits is his hatred of women. Usually portrayed not just as mere sexism, but [[StrawMisogynist unreasoning hate of women]]. The DepravedHomosexual rarely exhibits this trait (this is the usual department of the CampGay and it's played for laughs).

In any way, there's quite the DoubleStandard here: women who don't like men will more often than not be portrayed sympathetically, but this will rarely happen with their {{Spear Counterpart}}s. Consequently, {{He Man Woman Hater}}s are very often (but not always) {{Straw Misogynist}}s while their {{Distaff Counterpart}}s are much less likely to be {{Straw Feminist}}s. Of course, this may be justified, since women who don't like men have rarely had any power in history to do anything to them, making their hatred relatively harmless for real-life male viewers -- whereas men who don't like women have...

* Leo, a former GiantMook who underwent a pseudo HeelFaceTurn in the {{Western}} {{Shojo}} manga ''{{Miriam}}'', dislikes women so much he's practically enraged when one so much as ''talks'' to him. Miriam constructs an elaborate imaginary backstory for him that, in her mind, would excuse his behavior, which involves several groups of women (his sisters, his female co-workers, his sisters-in-law, etc.) taking advantage of him for his entire life. While her story is farfetched, his attempts at explaining himself, which amount to "they're noisy, and if you deal with them, they cry, and you still can't fight them..." suggest ''something'' along those lines might've actually happened to him, even though he's never been married and doesn't have any sisters.
