Yeah, I'm taking it off. Not sure why it lasted so long.
For we shall slay evil with logic...Does anybody else think this trope should be renamed? When I first heard of it, I thought it meant young boys who act like girls have cooties, like its trope namer.
Hide / Show Replies^Trope Repair Shop is the place, mate.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI found what I think would be a pretty good idea for a page quote... it's from Boyz N The Hood:
Shalika: Why is it every time you talk about a female you gotta say bitch, ho, or hootchie?
Doughboy: 'Cause that's what you are.
What do you all think? It's a pretty clear demonstration of misogyny, though Doughboy demonstrates more of a lack of respect towards women than an outright hatred of them. Would that still fit the trope?
Edited by TyeDyeWildebeest I love to learn, I love to yearn, and most of all... I love to make money.Reading this article, it's hard to understand how this is different from Straw Misogynist. The Straw Misogynist page says this is the milder version, but then this page goes on to point out how these characters usually fall under the Straw Misogynist trope with very rare exceptions. So what is the point of separate pages? Can't we just make a list of the ones that avert the Straw Misogynist tendency on that page?
Hide / Show RepliesWell, I just thought this was a 'light beer' version of Straw Misogynist. It seems that both tropes have the character be a misogynist as their foremost defining trait, but I can't think of any trope that just has "misogyny" as "yeah, he's witty, Nice Guy, great with other people...oh, did we mention he's a sexist?" Now of course if you gender flipped that, then it's Does Not Like Men, but even I find it a little unfair that there's a Double Standard here.
Wondering why the sentence, "Of course, this may be justified, since women who don't like men have rarely had any power in history to do anything to them," is in place. Do the Amazons (when they're not losing to whoever they're fighting) ring a bell by literally only allowing enough men as needed live? And even then killing them afterward? I honestly don't think it's justified myself, and the sentence ought to be removed, but I'm unsure.
Edited by MindGamer Give me a mind, I will play with it. A character, I will roleplay it. Not so different. Hide / Show RepliesThe Scythians and possibly the Mongols (at least some tribes) had female warriors, which is where the whole Amazon myth came from. But said female warriors generally fought alongside their husbands and kinsmen. So that part of the myth is BS.
Okay, wow, P4 spoilers in that image. Should we change it?
Hide / Show RepliesIt's not much of a picture, so sure if you can find a better one.
See you in the discussion pages.
We may need a new page quote: The Cactus Jack quote is out of context. It's meant to convey a love of violence, not misogyny.
