** The first single from ''Watch Me Fall" was entitled "It Ain't Gonna Save Me", which for almost the last half focused around a hook based on the lines "all is lost/there is no hope for me".

* In August 2009, critically acclaimed indie punk rocker Jay Reatard's released his second solo album, ''Watch Me Fall''. A little over five months later in January 2010, he died in his bed of cocaine toxicity, after a tumultuous year that culminated in the firing of his entire live band.

** Also a case of CompletelyMissingThePoint, since the film is one long anvilicious PSA about the evil of racial profiling. On that note, the scenes of the US Army rounding up every Arab male in Brooklyn and putting them in a concentration camp, where suspected terrorists are tortured and even murdered by the Army operation's commander is pretty grim in light of Gitmo, Abu Ghraib, and the contention of the White House that it can (theoretically) execute suspected terrorists, even US citizens, without trial. Though YourMileageMayVary about whether that was parallel to the movie, ahd how disturbing it was.

* ''The Virginity Hit'' is a comedy about a guy whose friends secretly tape him and his girlfriend making out and the [[HilarityEnsues ensuing hilarity]] that follows after said video is released on YouTube. In RealLife, [[http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704116004575522410465437660.html a guy gets caught on webcam]] making out with another guy and after it's shown on the web he ''[[DrivenToSuicide jumps off a bridge]]''. While the movie itself hasn't come out yet, its commercial that played every other break has diappeared.
* In the [[BruceLeeClone Bruceploitation]] film ''The Clones of Bruce Lee'', one of the Bruce clones is investigating a director who uses his work to cover his gold smuggling. The director gets suspicious and eventually decides to eliminate Bruce by staging a weapons malfunction during filming...which is exactly the way Bruce's son Brandon died while filming ''TheCrow''.

* The gunship mission on ''ModernWarfare'' will never feel the same after [[http://www.collateralmurder.com/ the footage of the 2007 deaths of Reuters reporters in Iraq]]. The fact it plays out so similarly, the fact that the pilots talk in such a callous way... in both reality and the game. It's very disturbing.

* Another case involved the death of LiamNeeson's wife: the character he voiced for the game ''{{Fallout}} 3'' loses his wife in the intro sequence, which goes from being {{narm}} (due to DeathByChildbirth being overdone) to absolutely tragic.

* In 1969, John Lennon remarked in an interview that he tried to be as humourous as possible with regards to his political agenda because 'all the serious people, like Martin Luther King and Kennedy and Gandhi, got shot." Just over ten years after that interview, Lennon crossed paths with Mark David Chapman...

* In the [[StarTrekTheOriginalSeries Star Trek TOS]] episode, "Assignment: Earth", Spock mentions that one of the events that occurred in the Enterprise's visit to Earth in 1968 was an assassination attempt. The episode was first aired on March 29, 1968. In an eerie coincidence, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was murdered six days later.

* September 11. As you've seen above, the September 11 attacks in 2001 left a lot of ill tastes in a lot of media.

* The SherlockHolmes story "The Adventure of the Copper Beeches" features a villain who's locked his daughter up as a tormented prisoner, and whose young son tortures helpless animals. At the time, the son's behavior was introduced as an hereditary clue to the father's cruel nature, and the villain's motives were financial only; nowadays, readers are more likely to suspect the man was molesting both his kids.

* In an issue of ''Uncanny Comicbook/{{X-Men}}'' from 1986, we get a flashback (-forward?) to Rachel Summers' CrapsackWorld of her DaysOfFuturePast, where it's revealed that among the other actions to happen in the war against the mutants, someone destroyed the World Trade Center with a bomb (one panel shows the Twin Towers in ruins). Unthinkable in 1986, but cringe-inducing after 1993 and absolutely eerie after 2001.

* The diffusion of the first episode of ''{{Fringe}}'',which contains a plane accident,in France coincided with the Rio-Paris plane crash...The episode was broadcasted one week later instead.
