** Goku's hair is so static that on the few occasions he suffered some minor hair damage, it immediately returned to its regular state one panel later.
** Lampshaded in the Cell Saga, and the trope was even made to be the Saiyans' racial trait (it does not, however, apply to part-Saiyans). After Vegeta and Trunks use the time chamber to fit a year of training into a day, Bulma is confused to see Trunks has long hair while Vegeta looks exactly the same.

** Apparently doesn't apply to facial hair. Vegeta grew a mustache during GT and later shaves it off. He also has a change in hairstyle being cropped shorter while it still spikes upward. In Super, Vegeta and yes, Goku grow [[TimePassageBeard beards]] during their training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.

** Sakura is an interesting case. Flashbacks show that as a child she had short hair, but grew it long due to rumors that Sasuke liked long haired girls. She starts the series with long hair, but has an ImportantHaircut in the second arc. Sakura keeps her hair more-or-less the same length from then on, bar some flashback where she grew out her hair between Part I and Part II and her hair being slightly longer as an adult.
** Hinata has probably had the most hairstyle changes out of any character. In childhood flashbacks, Hinata had the same hairstyle she had in Part I. Come Part II, Hinata has grown her hair out. TheStinger of ''Anime/TheLastNarutoTheMovie'' and ''Manga/{{Boruto}}'' shows Hinata with short hair again as an adult, though it's in a different style than before.
* Natsu from ''Manga/FairyTail''.
* From the few flashback scenes so far, it looks like this applies to many of the main ''Anime/StarDriver'' characters - Sugata, Wako, Keito, Benio, George...
* ''Manga/MagiLabyrinthOfMagic'': The BigGood Sinbad has been shown to have the same, choppy, side-swept bangs and knee-length ponytail with an IdiotHair since he was fourteen, fifteen years ago. Yunan and Scheherazade have also had the same hairstyles they have now.
* In the ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanoha TheMovie 1st Tribute Comics'' that doubled as promotions for the four manga running at the time of TheMovie's release, the ''[[http://img843.imageshack.us/img843/8812/comics003.jpg Lyrical Almanac]]'' had Subaru making up her version of how she and Teana first met, complete with child versions of the two that were still sporting their teenage hairstyles from ''[=StrikerS=]''.
* Wendy Garret of ''Anime/GunXSword'' has the same [[GirlishPigtails twin braids]] as a very young girl that she dons in series. [[spoiler: She's still wearing her hair that way years later, when she's shown as an adult.]]
* Played straight for most of the characters in ''Manga/{{Eyeshield 21}}''. Especially noticeable in Sena, who has a serious case of {{shonen hair}}.
** Hiruma, Musashi, Mamori, and Agon are aversions. Hiruma started dyeing and styling his hair in middle school, Musashi grew his hair out after becoming a construction worker, Mamori's had a few slight variations in her haircut, and Agon went through at least five different hairstyles in middle school alone.
* Pretty much everyone in ''Manga/OnePiece''. A bit odd that many characters only recently chose to change their hairstyles all at once.
* Subaru, Tasuku, Yoite, Kouichi, and Gau from ''Manga/NabariNoOu''.
* Averted in ''Anime/TenchiMuyo'', where young Ayeka wears her hair in two pig tails instead of two pony tails. Given what we see of other Juraian princesses, this seems to be standard. Played straight with Ryoko.
* In 'the ''Anime/GirlsUndPanzer'' prequel manga, Miho, her sister Maho and their mother Shiho all have the same hairstyles as they do in the anime six years later. Even Kikuyo, a maid who makes an appearance in the manga, has the same hairstyle.
* Kanako from ''Manga/WanderingSon'' had pigtails even when she was a kindergartner. {{Averted|Trope}} with almost everyone else, who realistically change haircuts over the years. Kanako herself eventually lets her hair down starting around high school.
* Averted with four out of the main six in ''Anime/AnoHanaTheFlowerWeSawThatDay''. Menma being justified as being a ghost, so she has the same haircut as a kid. Yukiatsu just has a short, simple, haircut.
* In ''{{Manga/Saki}}'' this can be played straight or averted, as flashbacks take place anywhere from the recent past to roughly a decade ago. Aversions include Saki, who had pigtails when she was younger, and Ako, whose hairstyle looked slightly similar to Yuuki's when she was in elementary school.
* ZigZagged in ''Manga/{{Trigun}}'', while Vash [[spoiler: changes his hair color becomes darker every time he uses his powers]], in the anime he and Knives had long hair when they were kids. However, in the manga, both he and Knives are shown to have had the same hairstyle since they were toddlers, making that [[spoiler:well over a hundred years with the same hairstyle]]. But in both the manga and anime, Vash grows his hair after certain incident and adopts a different identity, albeit temporarily. The same goes to [[TheSixthRanger Livio]].
* When Kurosu's from ''Manga/AnaSatsujin'' life is flashing before his eyes we see that he's had the exact same haircut since infancy.
* Both averted and played straight in ''Manga/YourLieInApril''. Most characters show little to no change in hairstyle throughout their lives. Others such as Emi, Kaori, and Hiroko have.
* Played straight in ''Manga/YouAndMe'' for every boy except Chizuru and Shun. Even with Shun, he starts out as a LongHairedPrettyBoy but cuts his hair early on to look like his preschool haircut.
* Takaki and Akari in ''Anime/FiveCentimetersPerSecond''.
* Zigzagged in ''Anime/DanganRonpa3''. Most of the returning characters have new hairstyles depending on the time period, but any of the new characters hairstyles remain unchanged whenever the anime shows them.

* Played straight with Taki and most of ''Anime/YourName'''s characters, but averted with Mitsuha, who started out as a teen who wears folded twin braids, gets an ImportantHaircut halfway through to short, then is shown after the TimeSkip as an adult wearing her hair down but with a French braid. Also averted with Sayaka who spends most of the film with twin braids but has her hair short at the end.
* In ''Anime/YuYuHakusho'' Hiei is born with black and white hair in the shape of fire and it stays that way throughout his whole life.
* Nate and Katie in ''Anime/YokaiWatchShadowside'' have more-or-less the same hair they had as kids in ''Anime/YokaiWatch''.
* Ruriko Tamiya, the titular "Dissection-chan" in ''Manga/FragmentsOfHorror'' not only keeps her hairstyle from childhood to adulthood, but also until her death from old age in the future of the story.
* ''Anime/MaquiaWhenThePromisedFlowerBlooms'': With the movie being extremely TimeSkip prone, this is used for some secondary characters who are introduced as children and later return as adults.
* A quick flashback in ''Anime/YuGiOh'' shows that the Pharaoh was born with the same multi-colored hair that he and Yugi would share throughout the series.

* In ''Manga/PokemonZensho'', Daisy had the same haircut as a child and Green had the same haircut as a baby. Misty is also depicted with her signature ponytail when she was younger.
* ''Manga/PokemonAdventures'': Characters rarely change hairstyles throughout their lifetime. Even Agatha and Professor Oak had the same haircuts as kids.
* ''Anime/PokemonTheSeries'':
** Most characters keep their hairstyles in flashbacks. Misty even had a sidetail when she was an infant.
** Averted with Ash's mother Delia in ''Anime/Pokemon3''. She wore pigtails as a teenager and only switched to a ponytail after having Ash.

** ''Anime/KiraKiraPrecureALaMode'': Episode 1 opens with six year old Ichika wearing pigtails with strawberry clips; fourteen year old Ichika still wears them.

** ''Anime/HirogaruSkyPrettyCure'': The younger version of Sora seen in the intro still has the same side ponytail as fourteen year old Sora.
* In ''Manga/AsteroidInLove'', Mira's hairstyle is the same now as she was in the flashback, having shoulder-length hair with a little tied up on the right side. The only difference is now she wears a star-shaped hairpin, due to the one encounter she had in that flashback.
* The Inner Soldiers of ''Anime/{{Sailor Moon}}'' always have the same hairstyles in the original anime. In their previous lives, as children in this life, as their current teenage selves, and as centuries-old adults in the future--all of the Inners have the exact same hairstyles.

* Played with in ''WesternAnimation/MeetTheRobinsons'' in that Wilbur has to hide Lewis's hair in order to keep his family from finding out that [[spoiler:Lewis is Wilbur's father.]]
