She discovers the lie when their infant son Gimlet dies while he's away on a raid, then leaves him out of a combination of grief and anger. Unfortunately, she gets caught in a landslide and ends up in a permanently vegetative state. Pink never moves on from his lost family.

* ''Fanfic/EyesWideOpenAllTheTime'': Aki and Rin's relationship ended after Aki's miscarriage of their son. Nonetheless, they still care about each other.

* ''Fanfic/SchoolIdolDays'': [[Anime/LoveLiveSunshine You]] throws herself from the balcony of her house and into traffic, killing herself in front of Chika and Riko. This ultimately causes Aqours to split up and forces Riko to return to Tokyo.

* ''Literature/FireAndBlood'': It's implied that Aegon II and his [[RoyalInbreeding sister-wife]] Helaena didn't have the best relationship to begin with, her being well aware of his many affairs, though they did have three children together. Their relationship goes completely down the drain after their eldest son Jaehaerys is horrifically murdered in front of Helaena, who had been [[SadisticChoice forced to choose]] which of her sons would die ([[KickTheDog the assassins killed the son she didn't choose]]). Divorce is extremely rare in Westeros, but Helaena [[SleepingSingle stops sharing Aegon's bed]] and shuts herself in her room most days, while Aegon spends much of his time [[DrowningMySorrows drinking]] and plotting revenge. When Aegon is bedridden with serious wounds for half a year, Helaena never once visits him. Helaena eventually [[DrivenToSuicide kills herself]], possibly from finding out her remaining son had also died.

When Darcy confesses to Cassie that her unborn baby is Brian's, Cassie [[GreenEyedMonster can't bear the thought]] of another woman giving her husband a child, so she murders her.

But then Max dies in ''City of Glass'', being killed by Sebastian Morgenstern, and the relationship definitely goes down the drain. In ''City of Heavenly Fire'', Robert announces that he and Maryse are separating.

** As Miles and his girlfriend Rachel were driving home from hospital with their newborn son Clayton, their car crashed into a lake and Clayton drowned. Rachel was furious with Miles for saving her over their son. They attempted to salvage their relationship but Rachel eventually left Miles, leaving him [[DearJohnLetter a note]] explaining that everytime she looked at Miles it reminded her of Clayton and she couldn't bear the pain anymore.
** Clayton's death led to his grandparents splitting up too (Miles and Rachel were step-siblings), as Rachel's mother divorced Miles' father and moved back to Phoenix with her daughter to support her, with Rachel saying it was too hard for her stay after Clayton died.

* ''Series/AmericanHorrorStories'': Jay and Addy of "[[Recap/AmericanHorrorStoriesS1E6Feral The Feral]]" divorced after their son disappeared during a family camping trip. Nonetheless, they unite to follow a tip on his whereabouts.

* ''Series/BecauseThisIsMyFirstLife'': Jung-min left See-hee because he wasn't emotionally there for her after she miscarried. Over a decade later, he still believes himself undeserving of love and regrets how their relationship ended.

The marriage already had issues, with Susan being uncomfortable with Neil's [[AbusiveParent authoritarian behaviour]] towards Billy; he was also [[DomesticAbuse abusive towards his first wife]] and is shown to have been controlling of Susan. Susan hasn't been dealing well with the split, [[DrowningMySorrows frequently drinking heavily]] and [[StrugglingSingleMother having to work two jobs]] as she and her daughter are forced to move into a trailer park.
** Following the events of the Season 3 finale, Max broke up with Lucas, physically and emotionally withdrawing from him (and to a lesser extent their mutual friends), due to her grief and trauma over the death of her stepbrother Billy. Lucas isn't completely oblivious that there's something wrong with Max, but did a poor job of supporting and understanding her. Max later apologises for shoving him away, while Lucas apologises for not trying harder to reach out to her.

* ''Literature/TheRing'': The protagonist of ''The Spiral'', Mitsuo Ando, is traumatized by the loss of his three-year-old son Takanori, who drowned while they were playing at the beach. His wife filed for divorce soon after. ''S'' reveals that Ando gets both his son [[SubvertedTrope and his wife back]], and that [[BabiesEverAfter he and his wife have a little girl]].
